My eye surgeon determined that I needed either prisms in my lenses, or surgery. She recommended Dr. Dubick as the person to see. I was apprehensive because I had seen other optometrists without satisfaction. I finally went to see Dr. Dubick, who gave me a quite thorough exam and prescribed what he felt I needed. Barbara helped me with frame and lens options. I picked up my new glasses in about 5 days and........I could see!! And I could see well! All my fears of the glasses not working/surgery were assuaged by these two folks. I couldn't be happier. If you have a vision issue and you haven't been satisfied with the results so far, I highly recommend going to see Dr. Dubick. If you need lenses and frames, Barbara will do a great job. I know, because when I arrived home with my new specs, my wife said that I finally found a good looking pair of glasses. read more

If you read my earlier reviews, you'll know that I'm a little wiggy about people messin' with my person. The only truly *positive* eye exam experience I've ever had was in Oakland at Ursula Montgomery's office. So I'm probably harder on any person who comes in with the intention of poking, blowing in, or otherwise disturbing the sanctity of my ocular area. That said... I'm definitely a fan of their assistants. If they ran the show, this would be a 5 star review for sure. Gigi found me glasses that looked pretty awesome and comparable to the totally rockstar glasses that I brought in (though was unable to fit with prescription lenses -- wah). The doctor, though, was a little weird. He went on about his pride in customer service and how it only took 15 minutes to get a customer and how he went to get his MBA to learn this, but then went on to kind of be kind of rude. I asked a well-meaning question (do I really need to wear sunglasses?) and he dismissed it as "just ridiculous." He then went on to laugh about the whole premise of the question as I struggled to explain why I wasn't sure about the value of sunglasses. Honestly, I left feeling like not wearing sunglasses if only to defy his dismissive, patronizing attitude. I'm not one of those "the customer is always right" people when medical issues are concerned, but there are kind ways and there are rude ways to handle a bumbling, unscientific patient. On the plus side, he said my prescription was probably fine to stick with, which eliminated the need for that sucky re-adjustment period when I'm always falling down stairs and stuff. All in all, I left making a mental note to come back as infrequently as possible, despite the cool assistants. Ah well, it's not like I'd be there all the time anyways, considering how much I dislike eye work. On the other hand, like I said, I definitely do not like people in my eyes, so I'm sure I was predisposed to be anxious around this. UPDATE: this time the eye doctor asked if my eye "were always buggy like that." Really? You want to give me a complex about buggy eyes? Not only that, if they're buggy now, they were buggy a year prior when I saw him before. So YES, they're fucking ALWAYS buggy like this. read more

I've been going to this practice for over 15 years and I have to say I think some of these 1-2 star reviews are pretty funny. I was recently in LA and paid them my yearly visit and surprise surprise, my visit was dandy (minus my vision deteriorating). Here's my review: Location: The current location is great. It's vibrant, the displays are awesome to look (I actually start trying things on immediately), and it's constantly clean and tidy. Very easy to access by freeway. The biggest con is that they're not located in SF. Staff: I've met most of the staff over time. Dr. Shuham is friendly, extremely patient, and thorough with exams, even if (like me) you're constantly running late. News flash people: no doctor, lawyer, restaurant host, etc. is obligated to keep your appointment if you don't show up on time. Monica and Camilo have done my pre-exam test thing in the past, and they were both wonderful. Generally, everyone is pretty badass. Product: They usually have the latest trends in stock. If they don't, I usually show them a photo of what I want and they check to see if they can get it or they point me to something similar. They've tried to persuade me into the whole contact lens thing but I have this irrational fear of my finger touching my eyeball. Overall, I'd recommend a visit there. It's pretty legit. read more

The best optometrist I have been to. They are extremely nice, efficient and the office really runs on time! My son who is really picky about his glasses always checks all the budget places and always comes back to Studio Eyes. Their prices are competitive with the big chain stores but, MUCH better service. I have been to Studio Eyes Optometry twice. Once for my annual exam as a first time customer and again a year later for a second annual exam. I was first referred here by a co-worker as I was looking for an optometrist near work. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 years old so I've had many eye exams in the past. You start to get used to the procedure. My first visit was as expected with nothing out of the ordinary. I wear contacts most of the time now but I also keep glasses on hand and it's common practice to have to get a new contact lens fitting when going to a new optometrist. My second visit was disappointing. First, because the manufacturer discontinued the lenses I had before, and despite the new product line having the same sizes and prescription, I was "required" to get a new contact lens fitting - NOT covered by my insurance provider. I also asked to get a copy of my prescription so that I can order contacts online. The assistant told me it would "Take a while" because the doctor had just gone in to see another patient. They then wanted to know who I was going to purchase through because they will price-match. Their so-called price match was partly because my insurance provider's discount was applied to the total purchase. In my opinion (as a result of first-hand observations) is that this place only cares about customer service just far enough to get customers in and out with the most amount of money they can get out of you between your insurance and out-of-pocket expenses. Each visit to Studio Eyes had a total cost of nearly $900, approximately 60% of which was covered by my insurance. I will not be returning. I'd rather go to another place (such as Lens Crafters) where I get better service for less money. read more

Excellent! I was afraid of going back to this place because I had a bad experience with a Doctor who is no longer there! This time around I got to see Dr. Dubick who was very kind! Few days later I made an appointment for my husband and son. They booked us in right away. The staff is super friendly and the new doctor (Dr. Yaz) is great!! Went in with my 3 year old and we are really happy! Parking is quite the pain (street parking) but if you get lucky, no problem! My 3 year old (1st time check up) still talks about the "horse & ducks". They gave him a great experience, a non-traumatic 1st time!! Highly recommend!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I REGRET GOING HERE. I EVEN REGRET REFERRING A COWORKER HERE. I am writing this review way after my bad experience because now I work in the optical field as an ABOC optician. In February 2009, I needed a new Rx for eyeglasses. Having been new to Burbank, I was freaking out about where to update my optical prescription. I work right down the street from Studio Eyes and that was convenient. I made an appointment and was excited to get new lenses. I thought the practice was kind of small. Dr. Dubick did not have good bedside manners. He was unnecessarily loud. I didn't feel like I got a comprehensive eye exam. I think the ONLY thing I liked about the ordeal is that he prescribed Ciba Vision Aqua Comfort Plus Dailies. I wanted to use a one year old frame I had bought the previous year because I loved the shape, fit, and color. The optician didn't seem enthused about it. A week later, I picked up my eyeglasses that should have had new lenses I purchased... but the vision just seemed blurry. The fact that my eye exam and optician didn't seem professional or accommodating, I didn't go back to check what might be wrong. Fast forward to March 2010, I am taking a class to prepare for my American Board of Opticianry Exam. We were working with lensometers (they are the machines that measure the power in your glasses). I measured the lenses I had ordered to be in the new Rx Dr. Dubick prescribed... they were not the new Rx. It was my Rx from 2008 from my previous OD. WTF!!! I felt so bamboozled and upset. This place should not get any stars. The optometrists I work for now feel like there should have been at least a courtesy redo. Too bad those things typically only last a year from the day they process.. BOTTOM LINE.. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE STEIN OPTOMETRIC CENTER at the Burbank Mall. They were very nice and helpful in assisting my husband getting a new glasses Rx and fit for contact lenses for the first time. read more

Nice selection of glasses but they are all literally marked up at least 20% from msrp. When asked if they could price match the average price of their glasses to what they are on the internet, then they agreed to sell at suggested msrp but still not near what you can get the lenses for. read more

The most professional, kind, patient staff in all of optometry. I went to LensCrafters a couple weeks ago, and the optometrist there got my prescription wrong. I made an appointment at StudioEyes to get a second opinion, and the doctor took her time and got it right. Pleasant experience all around. Other places rush you straight to the register. I am impressed!!!!! I just completed my exam and selected frames. Whitney, the optician is very knowledgable and skilled. The doctor and pre-tester were excellent too. I am extremely particular since I was an optician myself for 23 years before taking on the job of a full time mom. Excellent customer service. I went in with my insurance paying zero to nothing ($5 off the exam) and they worked with me and I was able to get superior quality service. They even called numerous times to confirm the amount with my insurance. Doctor brought my contacts into 2014 :) as I had old technology contacts. Will come back. read more

I love this place! I used to go to another optometrist for my eye exams and lenses, but never truly felt welcomed nor comfortable. I kind of felt as if I was at the DMV. The staff didn't really seem warm or upbeat, just quiet and to themselves. Here at StudioEyes, it's the complete opposite! I love the front desk! They're so friendly, helpful and always have a smile on their face. Many people who have to work in customer service don't realize that a smile can go a long way! I first went to them back in June for some contact lenses; I was so nervous though because I had never worn any before. It took so long for me to finally find the right prescription and lenses. I went back so many times and probably tried on five different contact lenses before finding the right match. I was afraid that both the front desk and the doctor's would get tired of seeing my face and think I was being a brat about my contacts not being the right prescription or not comfortable enough. Luckily, they were so patient and so nice that I never felt pressured to do something i didn't want to- such as get stuck with the lenses that they gave me or buy something I wasn't going in for. I'm really happy with my new optometry office and have recommended it to my family. They also have a check in offer, so make sure to get it when you visit. I have been to other places before that just feel like a big sales job after the exam. StudioEyes is so much different and so much better... They actually take the time to help you make the most of your insurance coverage, which is really important. Pros: Dr. Dubrovnik is a good eye doctor in that he was able to figure out my contacts in the first go. The doc I went to previously had me go in multiple times and try several trial pairs until she figured out the right fit. The girls that work the front desk are super sweet. Cons: Dr. Dubrovnik is a little short (not physically... but in the way he answers questions). Comes off as condescending but if you're kind of sarcastic and are knowledgeable about your needs, you should be fine. Their contact lens examination fees are on some really weird, inexplicable sliding scale. When I first made the appointment, I was quoted at $100. Then it was $175 on the day of my visit. And then it became $150 when I finally paid. I would have been more OK with that if they were able to explain where the difference came from but all we got was "it all depends..." read more

I just started going to this eye doctor and have been pleased so far! The office is easy to get to and very clean. The staff is super friendly and answered all my questions with a smile! I was worried about my appointment because of the comments about the doctor being rude, but I met him for my follow up appointment and he was never rude or mean to me. He even made a few jokes while dilating my eyes! This office is super close to my apartment so I walk there for my appointments and they have complimentary bottled water which helps on a hot day. It is also in walking distance to all the cute restaurants on Riverside for a bite to eat after your appointment. I will definitely continue to use this doctor for my eye needs in the future! read more

Love this place. I don't even live in LA anymore, but whenever I need an exam or new glasses, I make sure to schedule one when I'm back in town. The front desk staff are always friendly and welcoming, Barbara the office manager(?) does a check-in of what my insurance covers and what costs I'll incur out-of-pocket each time (so there are no crazy surprises) and Dr. Dubick takes care of business thoroughly and quickly with sweet small talk and an explanation of anything he discovers throughout the exam. Parking is easy, the office is stocked full of great products and I'm always amazed at how quickly I'm in and out of there regardless of whether it's an exam visit or just to pick up/drop something off. I find everyone who works there to be warm and welcoming (and extremely kid-/family-friendly) and I'll continue telling friends and family to use them as their eye care providers. 10/10 read more

I just received a call from the optometrist's office that seemed, at first, to be someone genuinely interested in checking up on how things were going with the glasses - and then it just devolved into a request I take my original yelp review down. Super disappointed. The more I think about it, the more distressing it is to me as a patient. I had just been unhappy with the customer service with regard to the frames before, but now I feel sad. Horrible, rude service from Dr. Drubick!! Don't go there!!!! Staffs are sweet and nice. I won't go there again after seeing him the 3rd visits. I am done with his rudeness. I won't pay for his horrible treatment!!! My first time went to this place I saw Dr. Yaz and she made me feel comfortable but every time I went back there after I saw different doc. One time I saw Dr. Drubick's partner and she made me waited for more than half an hour with no other patients around except me. I ordered a replacement bifocal lenses for a pair of glasses I had with a medium to light shade. it took 3 tries and still did not get it right. I even showed the technician the shade I have on the pair I was wearing and still did not get it right. the staff however are very sweet, courteous and friendly, but that did not help getting the right lenses for me. I tried a place in Alhambra, in two weeks I had the right shade and the right lenses for less than I paid Studio Eyes. Oh well.. live and learn. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Dubick for years, so this review is long overdue. The Studio Eyes team are all great! Dr. Dubick is friendly and easy to talk to, has a genuine desire to help you and listen to you. I appreciate his thoroughness. They use a computer to document all his notes from the exam, and the technology is a plus. The pre-exam tests and prep work by his associates are also very thorough and they explain all the tests very patiently and politely. I always enjoy going to visit them. All in all, I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an optometrist in the Valley. read more

The worst customer service ever!!!! I arrived to pick up my glasses 5:28, and they were not opening the door, there were inside I could the voice, after 5 minutes knocking and calling someone open the with very nervous and annoyed face expression and told me that she closed the door at 5:30 , but I was there 5:28, nevertheless I was just picking up my glasses nothing 1 min thing and I was going out of town it was Friday , and she'd not give it to me saying that we are closed!!!! It's seriously ridiculous how pathetic person can be!!!what kind rude and careless customer service is this !!! The appoint was quick, professional and informative. I found out the brand of contacts I'd been using had been more or less discontinued, which explained a lot of the irritation issues I had been having (other optometrists hadn't shared this/seemed to be aware). I was able to get my glasses that day and a trial of a new brand of contacts. Definitely recommend it! read more
