People ordering food around you during the movie and servers delivering food. If that doesn't annoy you, you're good to go. If it does, go to Cinemark. Super nice staff. Good popcorn. Convenient location. Not fancy, but succeeds at what it sets out to do. read more

We come for the movie not the food also in addition they have a full bar if that is of an interest to you. Came to see the 1st half of the "Michael" movie. This movie theater is a great place to catch a film. The seats are pretty large, super comfortable, and fully recline with leg rests--perfect for a relaxed movie experience. They have a good variety of food options. I tried the chicken tenders with tater tots and the loaded brisket nachos. The nachos were a bit on the salty side, but the tenders were great, especially with the Thai chili sauce. These seats are not comfortable.. they are like living room recliners from the sale section. I thought the menu looked pretty decent for a movie theater, but I have to say only the popcorn and tater tots were appetizing. I used to come here often. They have made some changes good and bad. The seats are new. They are not electric but they are clean and comfortable. The menu is pretty good. I've been here several times and it's your typical dine in theater. They are always nice when we go which is important to me. I care lots about customer service. Couple things I wish would change would be the 18% mandatory gratuity that is included on the bill. Not sure why they do that, but I'm sure there is a reason. I'm a pretty decent tipper so it actually keeps me from tipping more since it's automatic. Also, and this is my biggest beef, I greatly miss free refills on popcorn. It already costs 10.00 for a large and it's fairly cheap to make. It seems like one free refill wouldn't hurt. For lunch I got the avocado protein bowl and it comes with a good amount of chicken. It's supposed to include veggies such as onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and peppers but those were sparse. Add more veggies and it would be a win! read more

I'm partial to IPIC but waited too late to purchase tickets for a Christmas show. The IPIC seating options were directly in front of the screen - no thanks! I searched for a dine-in theatre and found SMG. It was closer to home and had a good seat option available. I've tried other dine-in theaters in the Dallas area and left disappointed. SMG didn't disappoint! The theatre is clean and doesn't smell like popcorn either. The bar had a good selection of drinks and a friendly bartender. The dine-in experience offered a variety of food options that wasn't stale nachos and dry chicken fingers. I've found an option similar to IPIC and will definitely watch another movie at SMG. read more

Haven't been to a studio movie grill in a while. Was excited to return to one. This location is actually pretty nice compared to some others I've been to. Pretty clean theater. I didn't order anything this time as I had plans to eat afterwards so I can't rate the food at this location but one of the servers accidentally put someone's pizza on my tray and it smelled and looked good lol. The only gripe I really had during the movie was we could hear the movie next door during a majority of our movie. Whatever movie it was had to be lots of explosions happening. The theatre was rattling a lot and that was kind of annoying but umm besides that not too bad of a movie experience. The staff greeting us is not always the best, we had a few off encounters but l our wait staff is usually super kind. Bring a jacket because it's always super chilly! Went to Studio Movie Grill for the first time in a very long time. There are so many other movie/eatery options around that it is never really on my radar. However, they were the only theater with a movie time that worked for us, so there we went. The movie was great, the food was ok, the seats were decently comfortable, but the thing that turned me off was the gratuity added onto my bill. We were a party of two. A server took our order at the very beginning and delivered four items to us...our entrees and drinks. The entire set of interactions took less than 1 minute total. And you added on an 18% gratuity (over $8) without allowing me to decide what that tip should be. Ridiculous. I see that others have complained about the grat on here too, with a flimsy reply of "it helps make the process easier". How? I still have to open the bill, now add a strikethrough line to the additionally gratuity, and sign. Calculating my own tip would not make this a more difficult experience. I won't be back. read more

In the four weeks since my last visit, the theater implemented an automatic 18% gratuity to the bill. While there is a line for additional gratuity, there needs to be one to negate it. The theater had blocked at least one row of seats, so it was definitely not at full capacity. When serving the initial orders, someone decided to let one person hand out the napkins. Unfortunately, when that employee ran out of napkins, he did not get additional napkins for the remaining customers. So I had to press the button to get staff to provide napkins. For some reason, they decided to serve water in the plastic cups used to serve cocktails. In the past, regular beverage cups were used. My straw must have gotten dropped in the water. The wrapper was wet and it was fun trying to remove it. At about 80 minutes into the movie, I wanted to order dessert. An employee warned me my tab would have been closed. I let him know that I asked it kept open as I would be ordering dessert. He told me that they closed tabs at this time. There was at least 90 minutes left of the movie. In the past, I usually order dessert when an hour of the movie is left. I knew the kitchen would not be closed since there were four additional screenings of the movie tonight. Fortunately, we discovered my tab had not been closed. When the dessert was being served, this employee would not remove the existing plates. While waiting for my dessert, I kept the plates stacked on my tray. I made sure the plates were taken when my dessert was served. read more

I didn't have a great experience here. My movie started at 6pm I ordered as soon as sat down because I always get the same thing. Waiter took my order I'd say around 6:20. Ordered tenders fry's and a drink. Around 6:30 my food was brought out but it was wrong. He apologized and said he would correct it. Around 7:00 he came back confused I hadn't got my food back yet. I informed him no I hadn't and I also hadn't got my drink either that was put in earlier. I didn't end up getting my drink until 7:30 and my food around 7:50. Four of us went to a private showing on January 24th . The movie was to start at 6:30. We were in our seats by 6 and ordered our food. Three orders came out within a reasonable amount of time. The fourth order did not come. As time went on , we pushed the call button at least 3 times and each time were told that the food was coming. After FORTY minutes, the three of us who had been served were done eating and I went to talk to the manager about the fourth order that STILL had not arrived. I told him the situation. His answer was that he "had an auditorium of people waiting for their food" and she would have to wait until her order got to the front of the line. I replied that I thought her order should have gone to the front of the line after we told the first ( of three) waiters that her food hadn't come. His answer was " that's not how we do it here". Then I suggested that the very least he could do was to comp her meal and his answer to that was " that's not going to happen". This manager has no idea of customer service or pr. He was rude and arrogant and NEVER even said that he was sorry for the service. The four of us will never go back there. read more

Where do I start? We sat down at our seats, and each of the tray tables were loose and unstable. Mine specifically was so bad it would not hold anything. Was floppy and hanging down about 30°., but yet they sold the seat. It took us four times, requesting our drinks to be brought to us. The food that was supposed to be warm or hot was cool in temperature. It also took a long time to be served our food, and it did not come all out at once. It took about 15 minutes for every one in our group of five to get their meal. The worst part about it is that they charge an 18% gratuity automatically. What is frustrating is it gives them no motivation to work hard to earn a tip. The tip is guaranteed, so I feel there's like a flippant careless attitude. Came here with my boyfriend today and wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews. However - I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was absolutely FANTASTIC! We came in the afternoon and it was very quiet. The lobby and theatre were super clean and in great condition! Each staff member we encountered was so nice, helpful, and attentive. We were able to place our order soon after we were seated and the food came out pretty quickly. Everything was surprisingly delicious! We started off with Long Island Iced Teas and a half order of nachos. For entrees, I got the chicken strips and fries while my boyfriend got the meat eater pizza. I honestly was expecting everything to taste like some frozen food reheated at an expert level but I could not have been more wrong. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and PHENOMENAL!! We both really enjoyed everything!! Lastly - the chairs were SO cozy and they reclined. I'm rating this based on what it is and compared to the other locations. The one in Lewisville is so bad that I drive to this one. This one is significantly better. I love coming here because it's a relatively cheap family night out. The food is exciting for the kids and we all get to watch a movie for pretty cheap! While the food isn't super high quality, it isn't bad. The chairs here are very comfy. I haven't been to any of the other similar dine-in movie theaters so I don't have anything to compare SMG to across companies but compared to the other SMG I prefer this one and I think it's pretty great to come here. read more

Horrible Food, Horrible Service! They are NOT ready for customers. Please do not go here and expect other than seeing a good movie on the big screen. I asked for water 5 times before I received only one glass. I simply do not even know where to start because I'm just so upset. My college daughter came home for the holidays and we decided to head out to see a good movie. After doing a lot of research, we decide to give Studio Movie Grill in The Colony. We have not been to the movie theater in almost 2 years and we were excited. We sat down, 20 minutes before the movie started and placed our order. Another group of 3 came in after us, sat down and placed their order. They were immediately served drinks as we were still waiting for ours. The waiter then brought my husband a pepsi and a bag of cold popcorn. I asked the waiter about my daughter and I water with lemon and he Said I will bring it. The waitress then brought refills to the 3 people next to us and I asked for our water AGAIN. She said it was coming. Another waiter then served the couple in front of us and I asked for our water again and he said it was coming as they are backed up. I asked two more times for WATER and finally we were served water, without lemon of course, but no need to ask for that as I was sure I wouldn't receive it. When we FINALLY received our food, of course everything was cold, hamburger sliders, chicken sliders, chicken strips and the fries....ALL COLD! I pressed the button and asked for a refill of water of which, you guessed it, we NEVER received! I got out of my seat, during the movie and then asked the waiter who was just standing in the aisle watching the movie for water and he said sure but NEVER returned. I am BEYOND upset about this theater! Eat before you go or just stay home like I plan to do next time. read more

We had the 2 for $30 special, + dessert. Pretzel bites are small, but awesome. Chicken finger basket was good. Pizza tasted like Totino's. Beignets for dessert were great. My daughter ordered Sprite to drink, and was served Starry, which is NOT the same. She returned the Starry and had water instead. The drink was not removed from the bill. Also, no refills on the drinks. Items were billed separately, and an 18% automatic gratuity is added by the theater. This is only disclosed by a small sign located by the restrooms. I didn't go to the restrooms until after the movie. The manager did refund the drink charge from the bill. However, the overall experience did leave something to be desired. Well.....NOT impressed and have only been here 15 minutes. First off, there is only one set of restrooms and they couldn't be farther from the theater I am in. On crutches that will be an issue. 2nd issue....NOT all seats recline. Guess I am spoiled with BrewFlix where every seat reclines. Besides just being more comfortable, I just had hip surgery and really need the reclining seat since sitting up is fairly painful. More update after the food arrives. I some how managed to get theough the entire movie with a lot of squirming and repositioning. Thankfully being in the handicap section only my wife was bothered with all the moving. I swore off SMG after nothing but negative experiences in the three times I went in 2022. My lovely spouse insisted we see Oppenheimer there this last Sunday at 3:15. First - and already known, an 18% ticket surcharge. Second and NOT KNOWN was the 18% minimum food and drink fee. Our server (no name and never saw again after food delivered) informed me that in order to order, I had to agree to a minimum 18% tip. That is, no 18% agreement, no food or drink. If you think I am ever going to pay 36% surcharges again...H*LL NO. SMG isn't that special. Also, food quantity and quality down by at least 25%. Where's the beef...chicken...lime...etc.? read more

The best thing about studio movie grill is that you buy a reserved seat so you can show up half way through the previews and your seats are waiting. I usually use the Atom App to buy my tickets. The first 3 rows in the small theaters recline and the first 4 in the big theaters recline and are powered. If you sit in the seats in the handicapped row you can push you seat manually into a recline. All other seats don't recline. The food value is average. It wont be the best you have ever had but wont be the worst. The best part about the foos is it is there. Sometimes the pizza is a little undercooked and the dough is mushy. The fries are always good and i like those with a side of ranch. The service is average at best. Usually have to ask for things a few times like if you paid for a side or ask for salt. Sometime they even forget to bring the drinks. When they bring your food they seem to never know what seat ordered which mean but supposedly the order system tells them which seat. It is a little annoying trying to tell them who ordered what while the movie is going. It is hard to want to tip them more than 10% but i always do the 15%. You have to love tip guilt. However even being average they are still my goto movie spot because did i mention the reserved recling seats? read more

This theatre is located in what used to be a Best Buy, and I have been frequenting this location since SMG bought it--so quite a while. Yesterday was the worst food service I have ever received. There are times when maybe the chicken strips come out overdone, for example, but whatever else you order comes out fine. This was not the case yesterday (5/4/24). The egg rolls were burnt, sent them back. My burger was overcooked and had goopy cheese on it ( I did not order cheese), and the French Fries were limp and chewy. The fries tasted/looked like they were about a day old and microwaved....sent that back and ordered nachos! Should be pretty simple, right! Nope. The chips were stale, the "cheese" had a sour taste, and the meat smelled. Sent it back. I actually left hungry--first time ever. Also, after we pushed the button for service, it was 25 minutes before a server showed up--an African-American man who we never saw again. We were taken care of by Blaine, who, in my opinion should be running the place. He's awesome and gets 5 stars from me. read more
