New Yorkers like options…read more We like to choose our favorite pizza joint, our baseball, hockey and football teams (two of each!) and now we can choose exactly what we want in our tea. I don't know about you but I like the getting things my way. Any fan of choice and flavored teas will enjoy Design a Tea. Design a Tea has such a fantastic business model, I wish I thought of something like this earlier and capitalized on it. Here's the deal: Step 1 - You select your base. Black, Oolong, Green or Rooibos Tea. Each has their own distinct taste. Step 2 - Here's where it get's tricky. Pick one. Or Two. Like those trendy self-serve froyo places that are popping up virtually everywhere -- your choice can make the end product virtually amazing or disgusting. The power is yours. The flavors run the entire gamete from Almond, Amaretto, Anise to Pear, Pecan, Peppermint and even Wintergreen and Zabaglione (zaba, what?). Step 3 - Get tea bagged, or go loose ! Step 4 - Name your package! Go crazy and call your dark, spicy tea Cthulhu's Blood, or be corny (like yours truly) and call your chocolate mint tea Chocomint! Step 5 - Pay the man. Some combos I've tried (and enjoyed!) were Ginger Peach (black), Peach (green), Coconut Almond (Rooibos) and Plum (black). In addition to giving you exactly what to want, the owner throws in samples and -- get this, a hand written note saying thank you for ordering. Amazing customer service with a personal touch is certainly not dead to the folks who run Designatea.com

I found their website randomly, and the fact that I get to have tea however I want it AND get to label it with whatever I think is a good tea pun at the time, is just absolutely incredible. I am a four hour flight from them, but the package still arrives always quickly, always completely intact, and always with a little handwritten note thanking me for my purchase. No, thank YOU! Do yourself a favor and try the tea. You won't regret it :)

Coffees were delicious and a good price. Pretzel bites can with a side of beer cheese and mustard and I personally love pretzel bites so this was the perfect addition to my relaxing reading/study session! Next time I might come and get a couple beers or ciders. They have a lot of drink options available at the bar. The area is super cute and you can book a private area in a separate room for events but there's still enough seating in the general area. The service is great and the bartender was super nice! I would definitely recommend this spot.

Like c'mon! Imagine, you can have a cocktail and/or an appetizer and relax reading a book on the couch. Yes, I love this idea, I'm all about it. The place is small but seating is nicely spaced out, it's super cute and cozy, a modern rustic vibe, totally made me want to start my own book club just so I could be the cool person that hosts a gathering here! I came here for a Galentine's Day - Self Love Birthday gathering that was situated in the back room. It's a small room to the back left of the place where 12 people can sit at the three tables and there's a love seat and two chairs with a table accommodating 16 people and a couple more for standing room. We ordered three appetizers at the bar (see my pictures) and everyone ordered a mocktail. They brought the food over to our area but didn't ask who ordered the food or where to put it, they just kind placed it down and walked away. Appetizers were about $8, I was told the Buffalo Chicken Wing dip was not that good but I didn't try it. I ate the Mezza plate and appreciated it, would order again. I think this is a cute date night visit or a bring your bestie and chill kind of place. I'll definitely come back again with a friend to hang out, chat a bit and check out some books!

Perhaps I misunderstood and what they were talking about was the wall with the incredible number and variety of sundaes available. We shared a "small" bowl of mint ting-a-ling ice cream, not a sundae. When I ordered, I was asked "what size?". I asked what size servings the people at the corner table were eating. I was told "small". Even though I had been told the servings were very large, I was not prepared for the very large "small". It was clearly large enough to share, so ordered a small with two spoons. It was only $5.50! The attached photo was taken after we started eating our ice cream. We'd eaten about 1/3 of it.

Yummies offers a wide selection of flavors that they make themselves and are different than what I've seen at other ice cream shops. The stand out when I was doing my pre-visit research was the Abbey Cadabbey, a dirty chai ice cream with caramel swirls! The let their employees create their own ice cream flavors and this was on of them; how cool is that?! In addition to hard scoops, the also offer sundaes, shakes, floats and more! I opted to get a large (3 scoops) in a dish as the friendly cashier recommended because they are large scoops and they didn't want me to risk licking the scoops off the cone! In addition to the Abbey Cadabbey, I also got the Boss Lady's Take 4, Curious Jorj, Hello Dolly, Gopher Den and Snap, Crackle, Pop. Descriptions of all in the menu pic. All were very good and creamy; none of the flavors that were described were missed in any of them. My favorite was the Abbey Cadabbey though... I love a good dirty chai!
