I called ahead to reserve a stuffed animal that was was specific to a Dino book we were giving as a gift. I ordered one on Amazon and it didn't come on time, so we made the drive West. The gentleman I spoke to gladly reserved the Dino in advance and was welcoming when we arrived. Would definitely return for a book, gift or drink!

I especially enjoy locating hard to find second hand books. I had a particular book in mind that I had not been able to find elsewhere. Guess what?!!! I found the book at this little gem (for .50!) plus more. I ended up buying 7 books for $7 while enjoying a delicious sandwich. The owner is very friendly and luckily has made it through the pandemic. This shop opened 3 years ago. I encourage everyone who comes through this town to support this small business. He makes the drinks and sandwiches himself....and does a great job! The store is spacious, clean and comfortable with an eclectic array of seating. There are new and used books. Clean bathroom. Well lit for reading. There's something for everyone including adults, young adults, and children. Comic book collectors should stop by as well!

I appreciated the variety of books that were present in such a small shop and was even more impressed by the low prices. Many of the books were in very good condition and I was happy to see a fair amount of booktok faves. Me and my friends picked out a couple of books for very fair prices. I still have PTSD from when I tried to report a libelous coworker…read more(who actually confessed to me her tendency to falsely disparage my work, a characteristic which I can document she shares in common with the office person) and, rather than bring her in to explain her actions which I came to report, her two supervisors stood over me with unmistakable grins on their faces (and you can hear it in the audio recording which I can produce) telling me I was making "accusations", that I was wrong (again without even calling in the allegedly libelous coworker), and ultimately firing me (still grinning monstrously). And then later (after I scored them on Google reviews) they would try to pretend that I had been scaring them. So yeah, this is easily the most toxic organization I have ever worked with. As a self-taught student of, and for this purpose a periodic participant in, cults (see the BITE model or simply look for the narcissist on top [that is, a person who never sincerely compliments others unless they have some mechanistically strategic reason]), I find that "Lamplighter Ministries" (or rather LAMPLIGHTER INTERNATIONAL INC) is nothing if not a hierarchy of delusional and/or sociopathic radicals, but they get away with it (leaving aside for the moment the possibility of hidden ties) because they hide their wackier doctrines behind more mainstream Christian teachings paired with banal pop culture to diffuse critical thinking. (Oops, didn't work on me.) UPDATE: I made the original Google review after, as I narrate above, they physically intimidated then fired me in retaliation for reporting a coworker trying to add lies about me to my weekly employee review then admitting she'd lied. Their whole game had then become one of faking that they were afraid of me when it was they who had physically menaced me, while I was seated the entire time (you read that correctly) and kept answering their repetitive questions and correcting their repeated misstatements during which they, standing, cornered me. When they saw this Google review, Lamplighter's top person breached a contract with me as well as evicting me their tenant (the tax record showed that the house was owned by "Lamplighter Ministries Intem" ["I-n-t-e-m"]) WITH ONE HOUR'S NOTICE (see photo of text message) prior to the end of our verbal contract. It was totally worth it though. This breach of verbal contract was no sort of isolated incident: I've documented daily-plus falsehoods often secreted until my Friday "performance review" charade, always defaming and disparaging my work or character, clearly threatened by my vastly superior skill set (in both typography and general bindery) but unable to admit it to themselves. And then this Emmy-worthy cast of characters turns around and feigns shock about this review. Delusional prima donnas to the last. When I complained and the peace officer wanted to speak with their leader, the latter got into his rancher costume and even walked bow-legged. I've never seen such a con-artist-level fear of truth in my life. I am starting to talk with public officials and find my experience corroborated and my suspicion that they never wanted to hire me long-term very nearly confirmed as well.

I have been coming to Lift Bridge since I was a kid!…read more It is a quintessential small town bookstore with lots of books, a great kids section, and many fun toys, games, and knickknacks to look at and buy. I love coming in here and taking a stroll around the store and checking out their art and used book section in the basement. I do feel like their book selection is not as full as it once was, which makes it hard it always find the books I am looking for. If you are on Main Street or in the Brockport area make sure to shop small and locally here!

Writers and Books is a wonderful non-profit literacy center dedicated to promoting reading and…read morewriting. They have a book store on site and host workshops, and events with authors in person. The building is quite large and has on site parking with a back lot. I was very excited to learn of a free event with graphic journalist Joe Sacco. The event was free and I found great value in the conversation with Joe Sacco and Daniel Worden. I learned a lot about the authors body of work and felt it was a great evening focused on the arts. I also learned Writers and Books hosts events like this throughout the year and brings authors to the Rochester area to discuss their works. As previously mentioned, The book store had new and used books, including books by the visiting author available to purchase and have signed. I also enjoyed an interactive typewriter display where you can type out a line and add to what others have written before you. A wonderful organization with a worthy cause, I hope to attend more events in the future and visit the bookstore when in the area.

It's a bit of a hike from Rochester but was definitely worth a trip to check it out. There were so many books that were organized in helpful sections. The decor and overall vibe created by the layout was great as well. Books were reasonably priced, including a rack of paperback classics. The bookseller was very friendly and knowledgeable.
