We attended the 2023 Studio 22 **OpenHouse** It was a full day of free classes, and it was spectacular!! We had a great time, felt confident in what we learned, and certainly will go back soon for more lessons and events. We both wanted to take country dance classes but didn't like that our only option was a bar. When we tripped across Studio 22, this is exactly what we'd hoped for. This event was organized and well planned with professional instructors who were patient and kind. Studio 22 made it fun, not intimidating. The ratio of guests balanced itself out. They encourage frequent rotation of partners (if you go as a couple, that's okay too), no one person was without a partner for too long. There was a wide range of dance lessons, not just country. The studio itself was very spacious, large enough to hold 50 - 80 people comfortably. There are dozens of four top tables along the wall, no reservations, you have to grab one asap. You are allowed to bring your own water bottles (BYOB). They kept the temperature very comfortable, impressive! Wonderful dance studio with lots of styles taught. The studio is big, and the floor are pristine. The studio is clean and well maintained. Teachers are welcoming and patient in group lessons. The community here is also very nice. Parking is super easy-- there's a huge lot with tons of parking spaces. The teacher was very welcoming and proficient and aware of what was actually happening with the content being taught and adjusted accordingly. The teacher was also willing and able to answer any questions during and after class. I also loved the extra hour after class to try to put the new content/concept into practice. If you have a Groupon you have to be cautious about registering your account with the front desk lady, the elder one, she would ask you to register a new account in their system and then she would decline your Groupon, because " it would only apply to new customers" and if your name is in their system you are no longer a new customer even though you have never been before. First time it happened I was like that's fine ill try one class (I was offered a free session since I was a new customer) and next time I come I'll just gift the unregistered Groupon to a friend and I'll just pay for the class at regular price(I have no idea how much it costs but I was willing to pay for it if I liked it). The class was fairly easy (first time salsa everrr) but pleasant, I enjoyed the instructors and the atmosphere of the class. Came again a week later, explained the situation with front desk and told them that I would pay for the class at regular price and my friend will use the Groupon, and then the front desk lady started off saying the same thing as a week ago, asking my friend to register a new account first. I said no because of what happened last week. And then the front desk lady said he couldn't use the Groupon because he has to register Groupon like 24 hours in advance, but he could cancel the Groupon and just sign up for one free class today, i asked her why and she came up with an excuse saying that the Groupon takes 24 hours to process, I have used Groupon at different places before and they never require 24 hours stuff like that, and even so, the Groupon was purchased a week ago! And then the lady said she could try to process it and see if it will go through. Right after she wrote down the Groupon numbers from me she said: he still couldn't join the class today because it's week four and it may be too difficult for him, he will have to wait till the class restarts all over again and then he can learn. I said I was here a week ago, on week 3, and SHE was the one who let me in! (and the class wasn't even that hard). It doesn't make sense. if she wouldn't honor your groupon if you show up on week 2, 3 or 4 but somehow you can join any class, any week if you register your name in their system? what that appears to me is so basically she would come up a whole bunch of excuses to refuse Groupons. So why selling Groupons if you aren't going to accept them? Unfortunately I won't be coming back to studio 22. I will go to a different dance studio where they will value their customers and will honor their Groupons if they are selling on Groupon. read more

I'm very unhappy about your policy when a member wants to "pause" his account. I missed several weeks of classes and have accrued 20 credits, and continue to accrue 5/month with the Basic membership. I asked lady week to freeze my account (stop accruing credits) so I could "catch up" over the next few months. I learned that if I freeze my membership I CANNOT use the credits I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! This policy is so bad for members, and I'm not sure it would stand up in a lawsuit.Failure to deliver services paid for. read more

Why do I dance, a complex question to answer. I dance because it is an all around goodness. You get tired, become sweaty, exhausted. You then smile, you feel happy, and relaxed. Then the next lesson start or the next song plays and you do it all over again. Studio 22 creates a great environment to get my dance fix. Great teachers, great facility and the most important really pleasant professional teachers that do care about your learning time at a reasonable price. I am in particular extremely impress with my Argentine Tango "Maestros" of around 7 years; Jarelbhi and George Furlong, as we have been seeking amazing dance education, always using simple, clear instruction and just talk time as needed. Most people who know me realize that I love to dance. Dancing in general but I especially enjoy dancing to Latin music. Hence, after attending a milonga (an Argentine social dancing event) for a friend's birthday, I decided I would like to take tango lessons so I could become more familiar with this entrancing dance form. Studio 22 was recommended to me by some friends because of the tango instructors, they themselves have taken classes from and ended up adoring. It's easy to see why after taking classes with George and Jairelbhi because they are such generous, intuitive teachers as well as amazing dance partners. Plus, they make the class fun and upbeat and never boring. At the end of the class, they do a short presentation for us and they always manage to create art in motion. Of course, if tango is not your "thang", Studio 22 offers a wide variety of dance classes including Latin and Ballroom. The set up of the dance classes is pretty similar across the board. At the beginning of the dance class, the participant will perform the dance steps individually while the instructors demonstrate them simultaneously. Afterward, a dancing rotation takes place where you switch partners as the song changes or a new step is engaged. There are always enough partners so you can attend as a couple or a singleton. At Studio 22, the front desk attendants are friendly and courteous and make you feel welcome. The prices are reasonable and they offer individual, group and wedding packages that you can choose from. Studio22 is my happy place and one of the few reasons why I started liking Dallas recently (I moved here 3 years ago). They have many varieties of dance forms to choose from, and many free classes, parties, events to boot that are just cherry on the top. I've taken salsa, bachata, West coast swing, cha-cha/rumba classes here and also attended a free progressive double 2-step. All the classes were great!! The instructors are so good, and they make learning a fun process cz how jovial and full of fun they all are! Michelle and Sergey are my most favorite of all! They're good looking, great dancers who have performed internationally and won several times and yet are very down to earth, welcoming people. Here, students bond like a "dance fam" and we hangout outside of studio for continued fun as well. And BTW I'm an introvert. And it's then that I say, I totally love this place and people here!! I am a terrible dancer and within two lessons she was able to come up with a dance that we both loved, and teach me how to actually do it. She's very outgoing and energetic, and a nice person. Giving 3 stars because one class was good and one was not. I did the buy one class, get one free. I went to the Samba class on Saturday and it was great. Went to the Salsa class on Tuesday and left 1/2 way through. There were so many people in there that I could not see the instructor's feet to learn the steps. I could look in the mirror, but then it is all reversed and that messes me up. There were 2 instructors, both with microphone headsets, both talking at the same time, calling out 1,2,3,4, right, left, cumbia, turn, right, 7,8. I am the type of person that can only concentrate on one thing at a time when it comes to audio (cannot have the tv and music on at the same time, it's just noise, drives me crazy) so when they were both talking, and the music was so loud, I was totally lost, and getting a headache. I don't know if I will be back. Too bad because I want to learn dance so badly! read more

I've taken dancing classes before in Houston so I sort of know what to expect from a dance studio and Studio 22 more than met my expectations. Everyone here from the front desk to the instructors are friendly and patient. The instructors here explain all the dance moves thoroughly to where you can understand in your head but maybe not be good enough to execute it without sufficient practice. Ever see a dance move and try to imitate it but just realize it doesn't look right? The instructors here will be able to immediately pinpoint what you're doing wrong and tell you what you should be aware of. They do move a little bit fast but it's a good thing because if you're dedicated to learning the dance, you'd practice on your own time to be prepared for the next class. I would recommend this studio to anyone whether you're a beginner or an expert at dancing. read more

We hit the Studio 22 parties a few times year. We always have a blast. This Friday we tried a Date Night covering West Coast Swing. We realized once it started that it was for brand new dancers. We still had fun, but we are a little more advanced. So I bring this up because I can guarantee you that if a couple that never dances tries one of these classes you will have a blast! I wish when we first tried to learn West Coast we had learned from these folks. Awesome relaxed atmosphere! Plus, if you are advanced they have tons of great private instructors. They are an independent studio so in my experience you will find them much better than the two large (and expensive) chains named after a couple old dancers! read more
