We had a great time, felt confident in what we learned, and certainly will go back soon for more lessons and events. We both wanted to take country dance classes but didn't like that our only option was a bar. When we tripped across Studio 22, this is exactly what we'd hoped for. This event was organized and well planned with professional instructors who were patient and kind. Studio 22 made it fun, not intimidating. The ratio of guests balanced itself out. They encourage frequent rotation of partners (if you go as a couple, that's okay too), no one person was without a partner for too long. There was a wide range of dance lessons, not just country. The studio itself was very spacious, large enough to hold 50 - 80 people comfortably. There are dozens of four top tables along the wall, no reservations, you have to grab one asap. You are allowed to bring your own water bottles (BYOB). They kept the temperature very comfortable, impressive! Dress code is casual attire, something easy to move in, and shoes you can easily shuffle in. There is a fantastic YELP coupon when you check in: 1 Free Group Lesson. I plan to redeem it and will write another review about it.

Teachers are welcoming and patient in group lessons. The community here is also very nice. Parking is super easy-- there's a huge lot with tons of parking spaces. There's also a lot of restaurants and shops nearby, making this place super convenient.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this studio based on my experience…read more My first booking was disappointing because the studio I reserved did not look like the photos advertised on Peerspace. It was under construction, with mirrors on the floor, dust throughout the space, nails, and conditions that did not feel safe or appropriate for hosting a Pilates class. I reached out DIRECTLY rather than leaving a negative review, and Alex at the front desk was incredibly kind and professional. She apologized and offered me a complimentary session, which I appreciated. I actually planned to continue using the space because of its convenience and how the first issue was handled. I had also already paid for upcoming classes. Unfortunately, my second experience was much worse. There was a miscommunication regarding the space and a different room, and the studio was STILL under construction. I requested a call so the situation could be addressed before my class started, but no one reached out. I handled the situation the best I could without immediate support from the staff. While I was setting up for class with my clients present, the owner, Sal, confronted me INFRONT OF MY CLIENTS and raised his voice at me. I was then told I could no longer use the space moving forward and that we were "not a good fit." I would have been completely open to having a respectful conversation and resolving the issue. Especially because I booked 3 other upcoming slots for the month of October. While I was refunded for those, being yelled at in front of my clients was unnecessary and unprofessional. Which is why this review is being left. No apology & UNACCEPTABLE! I recently moved to Dallas from California, and unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression. I will not be returning or referring others to this space. Future Peerspace bookers should also be aware that the space may not look or be provided as advertised.

Jay somehow combines great humor and charisma with outstanding musical and footwork instruction to make every class a blast. In my very first class, I learned an entire routine to a song I had never heard before in ONLY 2 HOURS. (And I suck at learning in group sessions!) He also changes it up each week to accomodate the more advanced students as well. A nice side effect of Jay's classes are that you get to learn in a fun, safe, relaxed environment, and that has really helped me come out of my shell and feel more confident - not only on the dance floor, but in real life as well. Whether you've always wanted to learn bachata or salsa, or you just want to come out of your comfort zone, I'd highly recommend Jay's classes.

I recently signed up for adult tap classes at Arabesque Studio of the Dance. I discovered the…read morestudio when a childhood friend "liked" the company's Facebook page. She and I had last tap danced in junior high. I had fond memories of my experience as a young girl, I thought why not try it again. The studio is conveniently located on the corner of Coit and Belt Line. The adult classes are in the evenings, so it doesn't cut into your daily work schedule. You can try your first class for free. I was able to borrow a pair of tap shoes for a couple of weeks until the pair I ordered arrived. Borrowing was helpful because it let me try out the two different approved styles that are safe for the Marley floors. The instructor sent me a link to an approved vendor so that I could order what I needed. Oddly enough, dance dress code is enforced here. As an older portly adult, it is probably my least favorite thing about coming to class. However, you don't feel out of place because everyone follows the code. You are allowed to wear a black dance skirt over your required pink ballet tights and black leotard. A black athletica shirt is also permitted, but you will get hot, especially in the summer. The women are all very friendly and welcoming. Many have been dancing with the studio for years and are happy to help you. They are all very encouraging. Some of them take adult ballet and jazz as well as tap! The instructor is very knowledgeable and extremely proficient in her craft. She uses the classic Gilbert method. We start at the barre with basics (shuffles, flaps, Irish, etc.) before moving to the floor, and cross the room dance moves. We eventually work on choreography for an upcoming performance and finally end with stretching. Dance performances in December and May are optional (for adults - not sure about kids), but are highly encouraged. There is an extra cost for costumes and a deposit months in adapted is required if you will be performing. Even if you don't plan to perform, you will still be able to participate in class choreography. Billing is automatically applied at the beginning of each month. You commit for the entire year. It costs nearly $100 a month, which is not cheap, but the benefits are: *exercise that doesn't feel like exercise *camaraderie with new friends *challenging choreography *FUN! Whether dance is new or an old lost friend, I highly encourage you give a try.

One of the things I appreciate the most is that I don't have to worry about my child learning inappropriate dance moves for her age or having a skimpy costume for recital. Everything they do is age appropriate, including the advancement of the dancers. They make sure they dancer is ready before they move on to the next level. If you're looking for a great place to send your child, try them out.
