I do not much about dance studios, but a friend of mine taught a Nia class here the other night so I paid the $11 or so dollars on line when I signed up for the class. It seems most classes have a virtual option too. Met the owner when I arrived. She was really nice and showed me around. There are several studios and lockers for your belongings. The studio we were in for the class was really chill. Not what I expected. The lighting was dim with blue and yellow tones. I didn't feel as nervous after entering the room and not feeling fully on display. The Nia class was 30 minutes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will most likely look at the calendar and pick some other classes here and there. I notice they do Pilates, yoga and things like that too. Lots of options! read more

I signed up for their belly dance classes and opted to go in person. The first class the studio was closed when we arrived, the instructor didn't know what room was assigned to us or anything. The following week I tested positive for covid and could not attend the rest of the series, I called the studio and no one ever answered the phones, I contacted them via e mail and let them know of my situation and asked them to allow my credit for the next series that would begin at the end of November. They said they couldn't do that and instead sent me a link for a zoom class, I specifically told then that I was sick and couldn't take the classes and asked to get my money back, no one responded back, did not get a credit. I tried calling and again nobody answers. Their insensitivity to their current situation is horrible. I would not recommend this business at all. Dont waste your money here. read more

This review is long overdue! I threw a pole dancing party and invited all my girls for a night of fun. The instruction called me the night before and make sure we were on the same page with music choices And she was so nice and answered all my questions. I was able to bring my own bottle champagne so all the girls can do a toast together. They did allow one drink per person but that's it. And I understand that because you will be doing pole work and we don't want anyone getting hurt. Overall, the ambience the lighting and music was perfect for my group! The instruction ( I can't remember her name... Christine!) was super encouraging. She even helped us record some moves on our phones while we dance. We all had a little solo moment where you can perform your best. But it's a warm supportive environment so there is no pressure and it's about feeling empower and sexy!! I had a lot of fun and would love To come back to try other classes. They also give you credit ($25) to try another class once you participate in the pole party! Ever since I was a kid, my favorite form of exercise is some kind of dance. I have always had a gym membership somewhere and I will do traditional workouts, but when I'm having a hard time getting motivated to do that, I look for a place to dance. The challenge with that is as I get older, I have found most dance studios are geared toward youth. I don't want to be dancing with teenagers doing the recitals! My latest search led me to Movestudio. I found them on a Google search and saw the impressive Yelp reviews. The variety in types of classes & the amount of classes available each week is awesome. The website is very comprehensive. They have clear payment options, clear studio guidelines, and the studio itself clean & neat. The teachers all have impressively experienced profiles - no bumbling newbies. Their options are so vast - I have fun trying classes even beyond traditional dance (Zumba, Nia) like Tai Chi, chair dancing, Deep stretch yoga, hooping, and more. I'm excited for some of the featured "special" classes like Bollywood and Pound. It's a 20 minute drive from my house and the drive is WORTH IT! read more

Move Studio is a perfect location for a variety of yoga practitioners and/or anyone who just wants to incorporate MOVEment into their life. The studio is nicely arranged and the staff have always been super friendly and welcoming. My experiences are primarily with the varied yoga classes - and there a plethora of them - but I have tried the Barre class (excellent teacher, by the way). Aside from yoga and Barre, there are a wide variety of class options for those who want to sample activity outside of yoga or Barre. There's a sound sense of community at Move Studio; I like that. A note for beginners: Louise's series for beginners is a super way to ease into yoga, especially if you've never tried a lick of practice and "down dog" makes you think of a hyperactive Fido. read more

I liked this studio, but have moved on. I fully believe your experience will be based on the classes you take and the instructors that teach it. I did a newbie's week for 15 and tried out a few pilates classes. Each one had a different instructor, and each class title was a tad different. The special is a good way to mix it up and see what you like. They have an email list that sends you weekly updates, and they offer you little price incentives and some free classes after they notice you aren't coming in any more. The website is really useful and gives you all the rates and class schedules and descriptions. I would recommend it if you are in a bit of a work out rut, and need something to shake it up. read more

Got my move on and my muscles are punishing me every time I sit down, especially on the toilet. My thighs are like....what the hell?? I got an unlimited week trial for $25. I first tried the yoga class....meh, not for me...not that it was bad, just too low key after a day of sitting in an office - I need something high energy. Ramiro's salsa classes on Sunday evenings are THE BEST in Dallas. The value is incredible (only $10 per 1 1/2 hour class, unless prices have gone up in the past month). If you've never danced salsa before but want to learn from a trained professional in the biz, go to the beginner class at 6pm. If you've already got the basics down pat and you're looking to enhance your technique and learn more turns/footwork/shines/etc. then go to the intermediate/advanced at 7pm. Ramiro's classes are fun and entertaining, I felt as though I was learning salsa and attending a comedy show at the same time. You don't need a partner, just yourself and maybe a shot of alcohol beforehand if you're the type that needs it (jk). After the 7pm lesson, the group normally goes to Al Amir for salsa night at 9pm. read more

If you are looking to get out of your gym rut & you dont mind spending a little bit more than usual to get excellent yoga, pilates or dance instruction, you may want to check it out. Love this place. Started with the $25 unlimited classes intro week. I took Nia with Jule which was weird and AWESOME. It was relaxing but definitely a workout. I took Raise the Barre ballet workout with Victoria. She makes it look so easy! The class is great at targeting muscles we don't use everyday. Plus whether you've had any dance training, or not ballet is a must. I was sore for 5 days after her class! The second time around was much better (for me personally) but still a great workout. Zumba with Jasmine was the most fun I've had in a class in a long time. Intense but fun cardio. I haven't sweat that much in a long time and it felt great. This weekend I'm trying zumba with Frankie and their hip hop class. This place is totally worth the $ you pay. It's a very friendly environment with all shapes, sizes, ages, genders, etc. Definitely not intimidating (which is hard to find in dance studios). Highly recommended! Can't wait to see the fall schedule and try some latin ballroom! read more

Mimi's Yoga for Childbirth class was an absolute delight. We learned a lot of concrete strategies for dealing with labor, medicated or not. My husband absolutely loved the class and felt that the atmosphere allowed him to connect to other dads; the lesson was not all mom-centric. Mimi's weekly prenatal yoga class is the best part of my week even when I have to drag myself there. This week I went in absolutely livid about something probably induced by pregnancy hormones, and left with a renewed sense of calm. She keeps the class engaging enough to keep me interested and mindful, but not so brutal that I leave the class wanting to hurl (It's a fine line with exercise these days. If you need to feel super challenged, I suggest hitting up prenatal pilates. That worked out poorly for me.) The yoga practiced in this course is not general yoga; it's specifically geared toward childbirth. Much of what Mimi talks about comes from her experience as a doula, and much of it is backed by recent research on childbearing, even if it sounds unconventional. She's not a fan of epidurals, but respects those who do want them and gives tips for making the process easier. I've seen moms come in here happily even past their due dates, and I'm hoping to keep coming here through Mommy and Me yoga. ALSO: They don't mention this up front, but you can pay to try a single class, and then go back and pay for the whole series at a lower per class rate. I ended up buying the whole pilates series up front and ended up having to quit early. Luckily I spent my remaining balance on continuing with yoga. I know with the non-prenatal programs they have certain days (mostly Saturdays; check the website or call in) where you can try before you buy. read more

I love MoveStudio! If I didn't live in Denton, I would totally join this studio. I have taken Pilates, Nia, Deep Stretch Yoga, and Hula Hoop classes at Move, as well as used their wonderful Infrared Sauna and come to regular meditation sessions (with a third party that rents their space, the outstanding Art of Living Foundation), and I cannot rave enough. The staff and faculty are outstanding, personable, and professional. The locker room and all of the other facilities are well maintained, and their equipment is in clean, fine working order. I LOVE MoveStudio and highly recommend it, esp. classes by Candace! read more

My favorite yoga studio in all of Dallas. The classes are amazing and you can tell the instructors are very experienced. I originally found this studio while looking for a prenatal yoga class in Dallas. The instructor is very experienced and really cares about her students and whole body wellness. I've learned so much from these classes and they have really helped with my pregnancy more than anything else I've tried. I can't wait to try the other pilates and postnatal classes. One of the best things is they offer single, drop in classes for a good price in case you are busy and can't commit to a full series. The series are 6 weeks and are very reasonably priced. Their classes are flexible - they offer weekend and evening classes and allow for you to make up at other locations if you miss one in the series. I took a prenatal workshop here and brought my partner and we both loved it. They send emails and are easy to get in touch with for questions about classes or availability which is also really nice. The rooms are beautiful, clean, cool, and spacious. The studio is nicely decorated which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed as soon as you walk in. I love the super cute locker room which adds a level of convenience to your visit and they also have a lot of bathrooms too. They also have a water machine in the back, and even provide a lot of equipment like yoga mats and blocks and balls which adds another level of convenience to your visit. They have a cute boutique in the back with clothes and jewelry, and even had some local artists stop by one day. read more

My partner and I have been trying to shift into a healthier lifestyle and found MoveStudio while looking for local yoga classes. We got started shortly before the pandemic and were able to enjoy a few weeks of classes before everything shut down. I tend to be a bit socially anxious and self-conscious about the extra weight I'm carrying. However, everyone at MoveStudio has been warm and welcoming and quickly put me at ease. While hubby has has enjoyed the yoga classes (and I enjoyed those too), I really fell in love with the Nia classes. Until they closed the studio, I was quickly shifting my schedule to make sure I could attend Nia at least twice a week. They've been offering online classes, but I can't wait until I'm able to start attending in-person again. read more

Review based on the prenatal yoga series... I am taking prenatal yoga classes and am 31 weeks. This series is great for those that need a gentle and conservative class. For me it was way too "crunchy granola". I feel as though it is a great class for ladies who like a slow, maternal, feelings type of class. This was just not for me! I can only rate this class based on the fact that it is a great class for ladies who are comfortable at this level. Mimi is a great and caring instructor who is passionate about what she does and will benefit prenatals greatly with her way of teaching. I ended up swapping to We Yogis because it was more my level of yoga, studio, location, instructor, and crowd. I take this with Karen and have even added in her "We Slow Flow" class which is a regular yoga class that is for beginners or those who want to get back to basics and emphasize correct form/posture. Prenatals are welcome in this class and it was a good level of intensity to add into my fitness regimen since I am an experienced yogi but needed a slower pace at this point in my pregnancy. Again - great studio but wasn't for me! I can't downgrade them for that :) read more

I want to preface this review by saying, I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS however Move Studio in Richardson deserves a million+ stars. In the past 7 days I have attended 5 classes -- Zumba (twice), Yoga to the Core, On the Ball, and Ballet Barre. All of which were excellent, intense workouts with even more phenonmenal instructors! It's such a vast difference when comparing generic gym class instructors with the ones at Move Studio. Literally each instructor came up to my friend and I (as we were new to every class) and introduced themselves and remembered our names as well. They come around and gently help with proper form or get close to give you a better view of the instructions which is so helpful for a beginner like myself. Alright now to brag on the classes that I actually got to try out... *First Zumba experience with Frankie was awesome! That chick can move! She is super high energy and got my heart pumping while I barely noticed because we were having so much fun shakin it! *Yoga to the Core with Meg was very serene. There is something really tranquil about her as a person and that really comes through in this intense yoga class. We focused on alignment and proper technique while engaging the core the entire time. Hello Abs! *On the Ball with George was downright FUN! That dude has a great personality and rapport with all his regulars. This was a challenging workout (not necessarily super sweat inducing but one of those deep burn kinda classes). I actually learned some things about my own posture and flexibility that I will bring to other classes in the future. Can't wait to check out his Pilates Mat class next! *And finally, Ballet Barre with Kris... Oh. My. Gosh! First of all, I just left this class a few hours ago and the soreness (in the best possible way) is already setting in! Ladies I swear if you do this class with Kris just a couple times a week I can't see how you you wouldn't get amazing results! I mean it is definitely challenging and my heart was racing at some points but at the same time it's a good burn that you can just feel tightening in all the right areas! Their introductory special $25 for 7 days of unlimited classes & sauna truly is a great way to get started and try out several of their unique classes. It has yoga, pilates, dance, belly dancing, etc. I personally love Jasmine De la Cruz zumba class, it doesn't even feel like a workout, it feels like a party in the middle of the day, she is super fun, active and her dance moves and energy are amazing read more

All 5 stars go to MiMi and her PRENATAL YOGA SERIES. I tend to stress easily and my whole pregnancy was filled with worries about everything. I started to take her class during my 3rd trimester and I wished I have done it earlier. I immediately noticed a drastic difference, I became more relaxed and peaceful. It helped me to slow down mentally and as a result, think more clearly and my productivity increased. Mimi has an incredible light positive energy, very thoughtful personality and great sense of humor. You can see how passionate she is about women and her work. read more

The fitness instructor for the class I attended made an inappropriate comment to me during the class. He announced to me, for the group to hear, that we will "lose that baby fat and I just need to change my eating habits because I have a lot of energy!" My two children are 6 and 3, which he knew.....really beside the point though. I'm sure he was trying to "motivate" me, but he's clearly not educated about how women are best encouraged. It's a good thing I have a good self image and am at a point and age in my life that I have the self confidence not to let that bother me as much as it would a young girl. I would STRONGLY discourage young females from attending any of his classes. I'm all for encouraging participants to push hard and strive for their best, but humiliation tactics are not what will keep women motivated or participating in his programs at Move Studio. I was excited that there was a drop in class option, as I am a recent member of Texas Fit Chicks, and was interested in the drop in class schedule for the days I can't make the TFC class. I can't speak for all of their instructors or different classes, but I can speak about my experience with George at the Tone and Sculpt class on Monday evenings. I assume people who attend classes at Move Studio are striving to improve themselves, and how embarrassing for their facility/company that their Instructor is not able to support that goal in a meaningful, positive way. Please do not automatically assume I'm an obese, angry female. I'm a very happy 38 year old woman, wife, working mother of 2 amazing boys, whom I am striving to raise with positive self body images and teach them that exercise is important. I am 5 ft 1 & 1/2 in (which is important when you're short!) and weigh 139. Not ideal, would like to be about 15 lbs less, but most importantly I'm strong and energetic for my kids, but would like to look a little better while doing it! I have been there before, and know I will get there again, but will continue to chose a more supportive environment to do it!! read more

Cardio Salsa with Sherif - It's a fun class where you learn different moves that result in a long combination at the end. He speeds up the music as you go so you can work harder and really get your heart pumping. My only complaint is that the combinations are very basic and he doesn't vary them up much class to class. So it might be boring for an experienced dancer. But if you're goal is to just mix up your cardio routine, this is perfect! NIA - with Jule and Shannon (Nia stands for Now I Am). It's a dance/ cardio/ karate/ kick-boxing / crazy, wonderful medly. Don't be shy when you come to this class. It's all about enjoying the way your body moves. There are some free movement parts where you are encouraged to be creative and move around the space. I came in skeptical, but left feeling sweaty and energized and very positive. Both teachers have a different style/ music taste. I enjoyed both. On the Ball withe George. An awesome pilates workout. I was so sore the next day. It's a really great way to change up your regular cardio and weight workout routine. After just two classes my core felt stronger and my posture improved. I can't wait to go back to take it again! I would recommend this place to everyone! I think they have membership packages or you can pay per class. They also have some good deals for the month of January for people that want to try it out!! read more

I have recently taken several of Michie's Zumba classes and really enjoy her teaching style. As a new student to Zumba, you just kind of have to try to make your body do the right moves and hope for the best! As Michie says, as long as you keep moving, you'll be fine. She takes song requests and makes class fun. She has all kinds of energy and makes me want to keep going (even when I don't really want to)! I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my entire life. The studio is clean, with restrooms, changing area, lockers and a water cooler to refill your water bottles. They have all kinds of other classes here as well. read more

I LOVE the variety of course offerings (gentle and mindful yoga and Tai Chi) and the comfortable temperature (around 72 degrees) of the classes. The quality of instruction is excellent; Tida, Chantal, and Bobby bring an educated background and wise understanding to the practice. They encourage students to challenge themselves but not go beyond optimal limits creating a very non-competitive atmosphere. This studio meets my needs beautifully. My favorite part about MoveStudio is their Zumba classes!! They have wonderful Zumba instructors who are energetic, motivating, and excited to teach! I've taken some Zumba classes where the instructor doesn't really seem into it and this never happens at Move. One of my fav instructors is Michie - you definitely want to take class from her. She teachers regular Zumba on Tuesdays from 7:20 - 8:20 and Zumba Toning on Thursdays from 7:20 - 8:20 (awesome workout!!) Once a month she also does a drop-in, special class called Zumba Sentao - Zumba with chair that is a totally different, and wonderful workout!! I love the music played during these classes...always a balanced mix between latin and top 40 music that keeps you moving! My only complaint would be I wish they offered Zumba more times throughout the week : ) I definitely recommend going to check it out ASAP!!! read more
