If you like structure and consistency in your yoga classes, then you'll like Gaia. I first discovered them on ClassPass, but I stopped doing CP and going to Gaia directly. My favorite class is Still Water (yin yoga) which is focused on holding single poses for a longer duration. I also like the other two beginner classes, Gentle Waves and Dessert, although I honestly can't discern between the two. Classes typically start with a warm up of some kind (core work in the normal classes) followed by a short 5 minute group discussion. I'll admit the first time I can to Gaia this part was WEIRD. But it has grown on me, I like hearing the "good news" from other people in the class - it gives a sense of community. They also do a short spiritual on the yamas & niyamas. It's nothing weird, I often do find that the instructors give me something new to consider. That's followed by another 40mins or so of practice. During the final minutes of practice, the instructor massages your shoulders and neck with an energizing lotion. I'll admit that I find it a little gross, but I still enjoy it. I mostly feel bad for the instructors. Other things I like: early morning practices, yoga mats and blocks available, room is kept warm (not hot!), and easy parking. My only gripe is that practices don't always end on time. Combine that with having to arrive early (late yogis have to shamefully tap on the glass to get the instructor to let them in!), a one hour yoga class can quickly turn into a 2 hour affair. I've been loving my at-home practice but when I need something more I'll still be coming here and nowhere else. read more

Love this place. One of my favorite studios to practice at. All the teachers are amazing.

Hands down my favorite yoga studio in the metroplex! This location is fairly small so I usually try to get there a few minutes early to secure a spot. They have two other locations in Plano and Uptown but this is the studio I frequent most often. Street parking can be tricky here but there is a parking garage next to the studio that you can park in. This is a heated yoga studio so get ready to sweat! There are various classes for everyone depending on how intense or light you want your practice to be. My favorite classes to attend are the ocean and weekend warrior. Ocean is more cardio-based/HIIT workout and will keep you moving (and sweating) the whole class. Weekend warrior is also more of an intense class but the instructors are all very helpful and hands-on and will provide any modifications that you may need in order to make the practice most comfortable for you. Kendra leads a fabulous weekend warrior practice on Saturdays and will be sure to kick your butt! Chrystal and Andre also lead very challenging yet fun classes that will be sure to leave you sweaty and feeling accomplished! All the instructors are very personable and make you feel welcome here. I am becoming a yoga addict and it's this small gem of a studio that is enabling my addiction. Prior to having arrived at the Gaia Flow Studio, I have taken yoga classes before and some I have enjoyed and some not so much. Hence, when, I first entered the quasi-lobby I was a bit nervous since I am definitely not a pro but after being greeted by a friendly and professional staff at the front desk I came to feel completely at ease. To your right you have the main section of the studio where all the fun yoga stuff takes place. And on the left side of the entrance there is a walk in closet where the back wall is lined with wooden cubby holes where you are able to place your belongings during class. You can bring your own mat but they do have extras if you forget yours. Although this is a version of hot yoga its really no where near as hot as Bikram, thank God! Chrystal Rae and Andres, the principal instructors, do an excellent job in their instruction and in helping you to incorporate your own truth into the practice. All the instructors offer modifications for beginners who are not ready to practice the most advanced poses. The flow aspect of the practice refers to the cardio exercises you are performing throughout the class. The strength training occurs through the poses and the duration that you are able to hold them. The purpose of the heat is to help your body sweat out all the toxins and limber you up so your muscles are supple and better able to attain the poses you are attempting to engage. Since you are sweating profusely, it is advisable to drink lots and lots of water before and after your practice. Afterward, you realize how rejuvenated you feel and you can not wait to go back again. The classes are small enough that you never feel crowded and for the un-assimilated its really easy to get a spot closest to the exit in case you need a quick breath of fresh air and I am not going to lie cause I still do on occasion. Happily, I am already seeing significant changes and even my skating coaches are noticing my skills are improving on the ice as well. Still, I can absolutely do none of the binds but I am able to coordinate most warrior poses and planks and dog poses. And I maintain the hope of someday mastering the hand stand as well! The studio offers different packs of classes for reasonable prices. And the first week special is comprised of $15.00 for one week of unlimited classes. Also, I have determined that this yoga practice imparts you with this natural high & sense of euphoria that you will be riding for several hours afterward. I am starting to crave it even on days when its not on my schedule. It's a beautiful thing. And to think when I first walked into this quaint studio located in Addison Circle , I believed I would only be taking my friend Stacy's first Ocean class with the sole objective of being a supportive friend. Now, its only a month later and I am doing my best to attend at least four times a week. Now most of you who know me know that I already have a super busy schedule so even attempting to incorporate yoga into my schedule is a feat onto itself. I'm new to this studio, but I really like it. This location is TINY, but the quality of instructors and classes is really great. Classes do get packed, reserve your spot early. Classes ARE heated, which makes you sweat like no other, but I personally love it. Cubbies for your personal belongings, bathrooms and a single studio room. Cozy, intimate and zen! After reading Flor V.'s review of her favorite yoga place, I really wanted to give it it a try, so I tagged along with her last week. One word: wow. Let me just say: I am a yoga beginner. I took a few classes years ago that were offered through my gym, but that's it. The class I took at Gaia was very beginner friendly. Jessica, the instructor that night, came over and helped me out during the session if I was having trouble with a pose or otherwise looking lost. She is really nice and exudes a lot of positive energy. She lead us through a tough session which began with an ab workout; which I loved. Next we went into all the yoga poses. I was dripping in sweat in no time, and luckily I headed Flor's advice and brought a towel with me. I am not kidding - my elbows were sweating. The room is really hot, and the workout is substantial, so make sure to bring a water to class as well. They also sell bottled waters if you forget one from home. After contorting our bodies into all sorts shapes and sweating off about 5 pounds in water, Jessica ended our session with a unique cool down. I left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and that night I slept like a baby. They offer one free class as a trial, or a 1st week special of $15. After that there are different packages. That $15 week special is a steal, and I can't wait to go back. read more

I cannot stress enough that Gaia Flow Yoga has changed my life. It is a beautiful, professional, clean studio with a loving, welcoming environment. The instructors are knowledgeable, caring, innovative and genuine. I started practicing there in September of 2012 and have been there at least 5 times a week ever since. At the time, I was looking for a new work-out that would relieve my stress from work and kick my butt into shape, but wouldn't be as monotonous and hard on my joints/ back as my running and gym routine. This place gave me all of that and more than I could ever have imagined. I never went back to my old work-out routine again after trying Gaia Flow yoga. I immediately became lasting friends with many of the amazing instructors up there and they convinced me to get my 200 Hour certification with Gaia Flow, which I received in November of 2013, and soon after, became a permanent instructor there. As a teacher, I have ventured into trying classes at other studios, but nothing else quite compares to Gaia. The level of professionalism there and the creativity of the instructors at Gaia really cannot be matched. I received my 500 Hour certification in June 2014 from Gaia Flow. Teaching there has made my life better and more fulfilling than I could ever have imaged; I will forever be in their debt of gratitude. One of the things I especially like about the studio is that they structure their classes in timeslots--so if you find a timeslot that works for you, you can take classes every day. I started yoga some years ago and decided to get back into it. I was used to Bikram so Flow was a but of a change. The instructors are so welcoming and helpful. It really feels like a second family. I haven't tried all of the classes since I'm still a newbie but I'm looking forward to them. The schedule is pretty accommodating too, especially with there being two other studios. I am probably one of the most out of shape person you will ever meet. I was active in high school and always too skinny, but as I got older, my metabolism slowed. I've always wanted to try yoga, but I absolutely LOATHE exercising and simply couldn't motivate myself enough to start. However, my friend Judy highly recommended this studio (and she's been to TONS), so I decided to give this a try since it was only $15 for the first week for unlimited classes. I feel like for a lot of people, it's intimidating to try new things out - I was definitely scared my first time since I had never done yoga before in my life. All of that flew out of the window as soon as I started my first class. The classes are engaging, and the instructors are the nicest people you'll ever meet. I feel like the entire studio just has this great vibe where everyone is so nice and always smiling - and I don't ever feel self conscious if I can't do something. They also give you this amazing little massage at the end of the class with this minty lotion, which is an amazing treat after pushing yourself during class. I have been wanting to join a yoga studio for a few years now, just wasn't sure about committing to it since it was an expense I wasn't really wanting to have. I heard about this studio but the $$ seemed high to me, so I just never committed. Then back in November I saw a Groupon for this studio's new location in Plano. I live in Addison, so even though it wasn't down the road from me, it wasn't far, so I decided to go for it. 30 days unlimited yoga for $29.00 seemed much more worth it and I would definitely decide if I wanted to make the jump and commit. The plano studio was easy to locate, the instructors were incredibly friendly and the studio was so nice, big, and clean! The first few classes I felt clumsy, and couldn't do half the things I saw others doing. I made a commitment to go at least 3 times a week. Within 2 weeks I found myself itching to go to classes, and adding it to my routine. By the end of the Groupon after seeing the benefits and how much improvement I had made, I decided that this was a no brainer. I need yoga in my life. Since I signed up as a member, I stopped going to the Plano location, and have been going to the closer Addison location. The Addison studio is very different from the Plano spot because it is so small, but it has a very nice charm to it. My only issue is they have such a small front area, that tends to get crowded between classes bc its winter and you have to dress so many layers. Im sure once the warmer weather comes it'll won't stay as cramped. I love how Gaia structures their classes, it is very different to what I have experienced before, starting off with a core workout, then there is a quick good news sharing around the room, the instructor goes over the spiritual sana for the week, and then you begin your flow. At the end of class the instructor comes around with some peppermint lotion for your neck which feels aaaaaamazing after the work out. Not going to lie, I have accidentally dozed off before because of how relaxed I am at the end of class. I go to classes on Thursdays, Fridays, the occasional Saturday, and Sunday, Monday. Since I am still a beginner, I am focusing on the Desert/Gentle Waves classes for now, I went to a Tuesday ocean class once, and got my butt handed to me, so I may need to work my way to go to the Ocean/Mountain classes, but I will get there soon. One thing I do wish is that they include which instructors teach which classes. There are some instructors that I really enjoy taking their classes, so I would like to know other classes I could possibly attend when I know its an instructor I am familiar with, and enjoy. Today was my first time doing hot yoga, and I loved it! I got the Groupon for $35 for a one month pass, and I will definitely be taking advantage of it. As a previous reviewer stated, parking can be difficult. As suggested, I just parked on the other side of the railroad and walked over. Problem solved! I took the Gentle Waves class as recommended for beginners. The instructor(Olivia) was fantastic, easy to follow and gave lots of modifications. She was friendly, involved, and had a very calming presence. I always enjoy getting adjusted in poses, and she was very good about going around the room and gently adjusting you if needed. No judgement, no ego(to quote Gaia!). I appreciate the message- Always come from a place of love. It's sometimes difficult to remember, so I enjoyed having that to meditate on. I had a great first experience, and I'm so glad I chose Gaia Flow. I'll be telling all my friends/family, and hopefully I can talk them into going with me so we can all sweat it out together! read more

I'm a huge wannabe yogi (no way i'll ever be able to do side crow) and have tried out all the major yoga studios in Dallas and Gaia is kind of a special place. Great location, clean and well kept and their exercises are challenging for those that want to push themselves but also gentle for those that require modifications. What i love about Gaia is that they begin each class with a series of situps so it forces you to work on your core - i love it!!!! After going to Gaia for 2 weeks, i do have to say that my stomach feels stronger and like the results that i'm seeing. Give it a try:) read more

As a new yogi (only a month in!), I LOVE this place... I tried it out because my friend goes there regularly and there was a great Living Social deal for a month's worth of classes. I have been going at least 2-3 times per week and I love it! It is not intimidating or overwhelming by any means. All of the instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the place isn't too big that you get lost in the crowd. I enjoy that it's hot yoga (about 95 degrees) because it feels like a more therapeutic and detoxifying experience. I literally go to class, leave my worries at the door and just get sucked into the world of Gaia Flow Yoga. It's great! The instructors also make sure to walk around and actually take a look at how each person is doing. If someone needs help, the instructor will correct their form or give them help. And no one judges... At first I was really embarrassed that I had no idea what I was doing, but then you realize that everyone is at different levels and they're focusing on their own technique, not how you look. Plus... everyone is sweaty and gross so there's no room for impressing at that point! Because it's on the smaller side, you want to get to class early (10-15 min). The morning classes aren't as crowded but any of the weekend or evening classes will surely fill up, so get there early to score a good spot by a mirror (so you can watch your form). At the end of each class, the instructor goes around and massages you with peppermint lotion. O-M-G... I wanted to just fall asleep and stay there forever... time really does fly during that part. I've stayed for the massage before and the next thing I know, it's been 15 minutes and I'm late for work! Lastly, I love that the schedule is exactly the same every week. I have a busy job, a busy life and I suffer from information overload. I cannot afford to remember a changing class schedule, so knowing that the same class is offered at set times each day of the week is EXTREMELY helpful. It helps me to develop a routine that I can actually stick to! This location is in the Addison Circle area so there is limited street parking. However, it's on the corner near Arapaho so you can just park across from the railroad too. I love this place and it has completely changed my perspective on yoga. About 6 or 7 months ago I was looking for a way to get in/ stay in shape. I tried weight lifting, tons of other classes, biking, walking/ running and then yoga. The only thing I could stay motivated to keep doing was yoga because it is not just a "workout", it is spiritual, it is relaxing, it is challenging, it is rewarding, and it is addictive. It is like nothing I have ever done. The amount of a "workout" you get from it is up to you. You can push yourself in a gentle waves "beginners" class and it can be an amazing workout. You get out of it what you put into each class. Since I have been practicing, I have felt calmer, more balanced in my life and additionally, tons of people have asked me if I lost weight, but I didn't lose a pound. Why Gaia Flow? I love that it is hot yoga as opposed to Bikram, it is the only studio I know of that starts every class with 10-15 minutes of ab work, and all of the teachers as well as the owners are amazing and helpful. When I have mentioned that I was into yoga to a few people, their response was often "Isn't that just a lot of stretching?" My response to them was hahaha, come to a class! read more

Ever since a friend of mine (also one of the instructors at the studio) introduced me to Gaia Flow Yoga almost a year ago, I've never been happier with this new found treasure. The room is heated (around 95F), it's warm but bearable. All of the instructors that I've practiced with are very encouraging and friendly. During my earlier visits I was taken aback by the ab workout as it was not expected, but I grew to enjoy and appreciate it. A variety of classes are available for people who want to focus on certain fitness needs. I highly recommend GFY to anyone who's interested in trying out yoga. Don't forget to bring a yoga towel and a hand towel to wipe off the hard earned and happy sweats. I'd definitely visit the studio more often if I lived a little closer. read more

I really loved this place! I paid $15 for a week of unlimited yoga and got a lot out of it. The instructors are really nice and helpful. They do a great job of communicating what position they want you to get in, that way you don't have to stare at them the whole time. They walk around and help you out. They even give peppermint neck rubs at the end of class. If you are a beginner, I recommend going to the gentle waves class. It gives you a great work out and isn't too hard. Out of the 3 times that I went, I always left happy. The only complaint I have is that they aren't easy to get a hold of. They don't have a receptionist, so the instructors are usually not able to answer and are busy with yoga. Also, they are a bit awkward to deal with when signing up. If I wasn't leaving Dallas for school, I would go here all the time. I definitely recommend it for all new yogis! I say new because I didn't go to the advanced classes. read more

I really like the laid back atmosphere and the class selection here. The location in Plano is the largest, with huge class rooms and shower facilities. The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive. They are always able to show you modifications for poses your body is not ready for yet. I like this place particularly because they retain the meditative qualities of yoga, whereas a lot of other places I've been really de-emphasize that, focusing primarily on the physical, losing some of the stress relieving qualities of yoga. read more

I'm a running addict. When it comes to working out, the high impact and heavy stress of running is what I crave. However, in an effort to change my routine, I heeded Flor V.'s advice and took a week at Gaia Flow. WOW. I knew I liked yoga after taking a trial week at Sunstone but not like this. The whole studio feels like a warm welcoming family. After being made fun of in front of a class at Sunstone by an instructor for my inability to hold a pose (true story), the instructors and community at GFY were a breath of fresh air. What I love is the sense of family and the the rejuvenation you feel after sweating out poses for an hour. Reference Flor's review for all the basics, she has it spot on. The instructors are truly here to help you and not to judge. The first trial week is $15 and then should you decide to keep on- $49 for the first month and $115 a month for unlimited yoga after. I think that's pretty reasonable for enlightenment, eh? While I also use yoga as a supplement to my half marathon training, I find that I look forward to yoga as a treat and not so much a workout. Also, I have really awful anxiety and since starting at GFY, I feel a noticeable decrease in my anxiety attacks. Strange but true! The spiritual side of Yoga is really introduced at this studio and it's not just a bunch of Real Housewives looking to be trendy in skimpy clothes. You sweat, you detox, you feel, you think- it's a really great experience getting to know those around you as well. All in all, GFY is a great place to grow spiritually and physically.
