Chelsea always provides a challenging and creative class. I'll be back for more sweaty yoga with her teaching.

Ask the Community - Gaia Flow Yoga

I liked more non traditional yoga classes that play modern music during class - does this studio do that, or does it play more traditional yoga music?

I attended a vision board workshop led by Destiny W. recently, and it was amazing! The workshop…read moreconsisted of a yoga series/flow, an opportunity to create a personal vision board, and then yoga nidra to complete the workshop. I will address each portion. Attendance: The workshop was well attended, but there was still space so I did not feel like I was too close to another person. I did not know other participants, but had met the woman leading the workshop (Destiny W). I felt welcomed into the space (so it was not weird if you showed up without a group of friends). Vision Board Workshop: I have never done a vision board before, and I am not a person who normally shares alot, so this was out of my comfort zone. I figured I would try it as a "new year, new focus situation." I am also not very creative/artsy. There was no pressure to share, but people could if they wanted. There were more than enough supplies (and there were cool supplies, too), so there was more than enough for the exceptionally creative and those who needed assistance in sorting their thoughts. Destiny (she led the workshop) walked around and chatted with each person but the conversations were not loud or intrusive so people could be present in the space and also focus on their own thoughts. Yoga Portion of the Workshop: I have practiced yoga before, and even at the old Samatone location (before it was purchased and relocated). I have not practiced in a session led by Destiny W. so that was new. I have also not practiced yoga in a couple of years (life got in the way), so I was not particularly flexible coming into this session. Destiny is a very thorough and calming presence in the studio. Some teachers talk too much, but she does not. There was enough direction to follow coherently, and the way that Destiny described yoga poses/steps made sense to me. It was not all explained in yoga words (some of which I do not know/understand), and there was time to actually do the pose (some teachers move quickly and I feel like I am sprinting to get from a down dog to a warrior). It was very obvious that she had given thought to which poses we were going to do, and in what order. This was not slapped together, and I appreciated that flow. Because this was a workshop, we completed certain yoga series/poses and then took a moment to respond to guided questions to help create our vision boards. There was enough time to do the pose, stop, and then write down a couple of words to help us when we got to the vision board portion. If we would not have done this part, I am not sure I would have been able to put a thought together coherently. The yoga definitely centered my thoughts to what I was supposed to be doing. The music was good. It was more animated during the vision board portion (which was good), and the background sound/music during yoga was neither too loud nor overpowering. I was still able to hear what was going on and also not hear the "extra" sounds of other people in the room. Yoga Nidra: Um, wow. I love yoga nidra. If you have not experienced this type of yoga, you are missing out. I think we might have done 5-10 minutes of yoga nidra at the end, but I also am unsure because I checked out for at least half of it. It was a very nice way to end the workshop. Studio space: The studio is very clean, bright/welcoming, and organized. It was easy to check in, sign the waiver, and find a space in the studio for my mat. There are more than enough cubbies/storage for bags, shoes, etc., and the facilities (bathrooms) are clean. The studio smells nice, or does not smell like a bunch of people sweat regularly in there or like feet. In between the workshop and the next class, the owner and Destiny were cleaning and making sure the room was ready for the next group. The studio owner (Rhonda, I think) was there and very nice/welcoming. Some studios have a clique vibe, but this place does not. There was a bit of everyone in this studio, so it is an inclusive place. That is nice. I would return for regular yoga, or for more workshops.

Dallas has no shortage of gyms, but when you're choosing the one -- the one you'll see more than…read moreyour own reflection -- it has to feel right. I'd been hearing whispers (the good kind) about working out in infrared light, so naturally I had to investigate. This studio offers a free first class, which is honestly the chicest way to commit-curious a new gym. Low risk, high glow potential. Here's what you should know: the concept is interesting -- but not super clear online. They have around eight private infrared rooms, and classes rotate every 15-30 minutes depending on the format (most run about 30-45 minutes). On weekends especially, sessions are consistently cycling through. You can book a specific class, but there's also flexibility built in. If you're there and space allows, you can jump into a different session or pivot your workout. It's structured... but with options. Very choose-your-own-fitness-adventure. Confession: I arrived early (as one does for a first class), and the doors weren't open yet because we were technically late for that session. Slightly confusing at first -- but once inside, it made more sense how the rotations work. A clearer explanation online would've saved a little guesswork. The workout itself? A solid, full-body intensity without being punishing. I hadn't worked out consistently in a while, so I wanted something effective but not soul-crushing. This delivered. You definitely feel it, but in a "see you again tomorrow" way. What I loved: * 24-hour access (major bonus for unpredictable schedules) * Super clean, modern space * Easy parking (underrated luxury in Dallas) * Friendly, welcoming staff * Great value for the price They also offer branded workout apparel (think training capris, etc.), which is cute but not required. My only hesitation? Motivation and in-person energy. Because of the semi-private infrared room setup, it's less of that high-five-the-room group vibe and more self-directed. If you thrive on heavy social interaction, that's something to consider. If you like autonomy with structure, you'll love it. Overall, it's a really strong option -- especially if infrared training has been on your radar. Clean, flexible, effective, and open 24/7? That's a compelling Dallas fitness situation. Would I go back? Very possibly. My muscles are still deciding.

As much as I loved my time here, I'm having to change my review from 5 stars to 2.5 stars (3 just…read moreto be nice). Sad cause I really liked it but I don't appreciate being told that we have free guest privileges only to discover there's caveats to that. Their website clearly says you can bring a guest for free however the contract states something completely different (see below). Yeah anyone can say well did you not read the contract? But at the same time did you not read the website? How is it's there's conflicting information, shouldn't it be the same? That's fine. I'll take my my L here but it feels a little deceptive (all signs state it has to be during staffed hours, NOT that there's restriction to who your guest is) and the reason why I'm canceling my membership. I appreciate Chelsea's friendliness and demeanor but EOS Fitness just opened up down the street with more amenities than Hotworkx (including IRL sauna) and it's only $20/month compared to a $70/month membership at HotWorkx on top of their $100 HotWorkx mandated yoga mat requirement.... Classes can get a bit repetitive as it's the same workout for x amount of weeks. They allow up to three people in one room however even two starts to feel a little bit too much. I can't imagine having to work out with three other people in the same small room. Maybe if they didn't have so many restrictions, stipulations and caveats, I would stay but it just doesn't work for me and I think others should be aware as well. They should change their wording to "one time guest" versus the word "guests" with an S, too. One time, Sarah also followed us into the sauna trying to make a sale towards my friend which did annoy me a little...... Not to mention, they don't even have filtered water. For the price you pay, you would think we could at least get better water? A towel? Nope..... I'm trying to justify the cost now but it doesn't make sense anymore. Since my sister is a lawyer, I'll post the contract details for those who may be unaware. How to cancel: YOU MAY CANCEL THIS CONTRACT BY MAILING TO THE HEALTH SPA BY MIDNIGHT OF THE THIRD BUSINESS DAY AFTER THE DAY YOU SIGN THIS CONTRACT A NOTICE STATING YOUR DESIRE TO CANCEL THIS CONTRACT. THE WRITTEN NOTICE MUST BE MAILED BY CERTIFIED MAIL TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS:.
