This is an appetizer review. And the Mule's apps are delicious. We stopped for beers and some bites after a round of golf like life used to be. It was so nice to sit in a restaurant again. Covid hasn't got me but it killed my Yelp game. Snapping pics of styrofoam take out just isn't the same. Snapping pics of delicious appetizers while drinking a cold pint is much more my style. We each got an app and I will rate them in the order of deliciousness. 1- The spicy calamari. A huge plate of big sticks of calamari smothered in a sweet & spicy glaze. Chopped jalapeños on top for heat and crunch. I would order it every time. 2- The ballpark nachos. Again, another huge plate of crispy chips doused in cheese, chili, jalapeños, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. I would have to order those every time too. 3- Chipotle BBQ wings. Another big plate of large, smoky wings. Ask for extra napkins. My beard was drenched in sauce and blue cheese. Pretty good but I would like to explore the sauce menu to truly know the clear sauce winner. 4- Potato skins. Another healthy portion of small, crispy skins loaded with bacon, cheese, and onions. Very tasty but they couldn't compete with the other app champs. House IPA was pretty good and on special. Pale ale was not a hit, but they switched it out no problem. I and my family have been coming for years. They have a great selection of beers and make a phenomenal old fashioned with many bourbons to choose from. The other mixed drinks are excellent as well my wife and sons can attest to that. The food is great with a lot of variety. Miss the truffle fries though. Sometimes they get busy and the wait times are a little longer for the food. This can happen anywhere though. read more

Service: Been there three times, and every time we have had excellent service, even when items have been missed. My order was missing the totts, and the waiter was quick to get me some. UPDATE REVIEW! I had a terrible experience there last night and would not go there due to the staff, their inability to stop pouring drinks to drunks and overall attitude! "Carl" who is apparently the town drunk must have had 5 rum and cokes. I told the bartender to stop serving him because he was belligerent. When she asked me if I would like anything else I said "yeah for this guy to shut the f**k up before I knock him out". There was another flat billed hat character being an ass but he seemed to just be hitting on ladies. I was asked by another patron to sit next to her because he made her nervous at the bar and she left early. I explained to "Dee Dee" that while she made a deal with "Carl" that he would take an uber home that I witnessed him drive and she basically said it wasn't her problem. He could barely talk, let alone drive! Then she copped an attitude with me because I questioned her judgement! I'm looking out for people driving on the road! What if this clown hits a mother and 2 kids after I told you to stop serving him and you continued, everyone knew he was drunk!!! I just wanted to finish my beverage and get home. Ruined my spot. First timer... came with a friend that works nearby. Service was ok; she was quite friendly but not very speedy considering there was only 2-3 other tables. Food was really tasty. I had buffalo Chicken sandwich with tots, a very basic sandwich order but it was really tasty (with cole slaw added on the 'wich; nice plus). Friend had short rib sandwich with onion rings, rec'd tots instead. Waitress brought the onion rings relatively quick to fix the issue. Lots of tvs, probably fun to watch games. Always excellent service, food, and drinks. It is our "go-to" place. Love watching football at the Stubborn Mule, San Dimas. Unfortunately, last night we had a bad experience at Stubborn Mule. It wasn't a lack of service or bad food or drinks, it was a group of men in the bar who were very loud and using inappropriate language as there were families in the restaurant area. At one point the group was heckling a young lady that apparently had dated a member of the group both sides yelling F-bombs across the bar. Very sad. IMHO, I think Stubborn Mule needs security to assist them with these types of situations. read more

Excellent blackened ahi sandwich with fries. Ahi perfectly cooked, wasabi aioli delicious. Fries crispy and hot. Staff very friendly and attentive. Relaxed atmosphere with music playing and lots of TVs tuned to sports. This is an excellent neighborhood gastropub. The food is pretty good; I've gotten the Cuban sandwich, tater tots, tacos, and lots of other dishes. There's a good selection of beers on tap, including local microbrews in addition to many of the major commercial beers. The main thing though, is the service here is really good. In fact, it's why I keep coming back for food and drinks. The staff does also get swamped at times, but they are still attentive and make sure to provide excellent service. The music is usually selected by patrons, so it's an eclectic mix. But that also means it's a usually a fun and happy crowd. I will say this, jerks will soon realize they don't really fit in with the rest of the crowd. That's not to say the staff will treat them any differently, but the other patrons may give them a little side eye and make them feel a little less than welcome. Again, this is the other patrons, not the staff who are always courteous and friendly to everyone. Overall, I highly recommend the Stubborn Mule for a casual place to get (better than average bar)food and drinks and to watch a game or two. read more

Walked over from a local hotel to enjoy a nice beer for a "5" star rating. I was there at 9:10pm but the bar tender and waiter said the kitchen was closed. According to Yelp and hours of operation they were open until 10pm. What?! Never even had a chance to rate the food or beer but service is less than zero. Must be entitled employees! This place doesn't treat people equally and discriminates. I've been coming here for the past few years and they don't seem to appreciate someone's loyalty or business. The only nice bartender who works there is Justine who this does not apply to. I got to this place early in the morning one of the first ones here. And wanted to Watch the Greenbay Dallas Game. And just last week there was a person here watching NASCAR Racing on one of the main screens during prime time football. Everybody else wanted to watch football. But the bartender said that he was there first so they kept the NASCAR on the main screen. Today I was getting ready to watch the GreenBay game and all of a sudden they Changed the screen to the Rams Game. I asked the Bartender (Not Justine) if she can change it back because I was one of the first ones here and was watching the Green Bay game because just last week you guys had a NASCAR insignificant car race on this same main screen that only 1 guy wanted to see and that other Bartender told Me that she couldn't change the Channel to football because that other person was there first and wanted to watch car racing. The Bartender (Not Justine) comes back to me a few minutes later with a sort of a attitude and told me it doesn't matter if you where here first it's what the majority of people want to watch. Then she told me she isn't going to argue with me. So I asked if she could call the owner over. The owner comes and tells me what's the problem. I explained the situation to him and he tells me well this is In State game (They already has the Rams Game on mostly every other TV) And if I don't like He doesn't Give A Shit and I can beat it. WOW! I was in shock this coming from the owner of the Establishment. So I ended up leaving and driving all the way to Monrovia to my usual spot Copper Still Grill. That place knows how to treat its clients. This guy should take notes from the owner Steve of Copper Grill on how you should treat your clients. All these years of me going there and giving them my business and this is how the owner treats me. Each one left a lasting impression, and I can't speak highly enough of their exceptional service. Rayleen aka RyRy, she was incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in. She took the time to chat with me and make recommendations based on my preferences. I was blown away by her knowledge of cocktails and her ability to create something unique just for me. Kaya was equally impressive, with a warm and engaging personality that made me feel right at home. She was attentive and always made sure my glass was never empty. Her attention to detail and commitment to customer service was truly remarkable. Chloe had a real passion for mixology, and it showed in every drink she made. Lick my chili was the ultimate go to for me and thank you girl! You truly changed my perspective towards vodka. She was happy to share her knowledge and even gave me some tips on how to make my own cocktails at home. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it made for a truly memorable experience. And last but not least Justine... more like just WOW! She is just a great person to perfectly end to anyones night. She had a great sense of humor and kept the conversation flowing effortlessly. This is the local bar I check in at at least once a week in my area. I come back because the service is great and the food and drinks are good. The servers all work well together and they are constantly moving. The bar is clean and the food comes out quickly and tastes great. The patrons seem like a majority of them are regulars. The worst customer service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. I was sitting at the bar for 20 minutes while the servers walked past me, and even looked at me, but didn't bother to ask me if I wanted a drink. The servers asked other customers around me for refills, but I was completely ignored. The customer next to me asked me several times if any of the servers had helped me because he noticed that I was being ignored. I quickly realized that I was the only person of color sitting at the bar... The place was full, but there were a lot more servers than usual due to the MLB playoffs. When a short Hispanic server finally came to me, I said "Finally". She quickly got defensive and told me not to tell her finally, and that she wasn't going to serve me and to leave, so I did.
