Our experience here was ruined with a long blonde hair in my salad. Wait staff should wear their hair up and staff handling food should wear hair nets and even beard nets. The manager did take the salad off the check but it was still off-putting and I didn't eat the rest of my food, that was ordered. We ended up leaving early and going to the only other place still opened which was "Bramble & Brine" to eat, which was a good move, just wish we went to "Bramble & Brine" first. read more

Showing some love because you deserve it! We were staying at the DFH Inn and needed a late-night bite to eat after the kiddos went to sleep. We ordered the fish tacos and turkey burger with fries to-go and they did not disappoint. Portion sizes were generous, fish was tender, moist and fried to perfection (not too much batter either), turkey burger was juicy and fries were hot and fresh. We especially liked the jalapeño ranch that came with the tacos. Thanks Striper Bites! read more

If you are in the area, Striper Bites is a great location to dine at for fresh seafood and a "nautical" atmosphere. Our server was excellent and informative. He made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the Striper Bites Club but was a little weary about the dressing on the actual sandwich so I requested it on the side. As for the sushi, it was amazing. The ingredients tasted fresh and everything came together nicely. My wife and I had an excellent time here and would love to come back. read more

The atmosphere was great, a small portion of the floor is glass and you can see the wine cellar below, up high there was fish tanks in the walls, the longer you look around, the more unique things you will see. I was very impressed with the side house side it came with artichokes, olives, onions , tomatoes and more! Just yum! read more

Another great time downtown Lewes for dinner with my wife. Striper Bites restaurant did not disappoint. Started with the calamari app. My wife had the North Easter with scallops and shrimp in a butter sauce and a crab cake. I went with the shrimp and grits with chorizo. Always a great meal. read more

Great food and the decor puts you back in time to an old ship yard pub on the coast. Try the crab bisque with a side of grits. Sooo good together. read more

This restaurant was literally right next to the place we were staying at so we had to try it. The staff was friendly and so were the patrons. I originally ordered a Sangria but it was overly sweet so I asked for an Old Fashioned. It was made perfectly. The food was delicious and wait time to be seated and for food to arrive at our table was minimal. I would definitely go back there again when we're in town. read more

This summer, Striper Bites has become our go-to Lewes restaurant. There are no reservations, which makes it a perfect last-minute pick, and we've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. It's close to the parking lot by the bridge over the canal, which also makes it easier to find parking. We've never been disappointed by the food. The last time we were there I had fish tacos, which were a personal favorite. Their menu features lots of fish, but also has plenty of non-fish options, which makes it a good place to take visitors to the area. read more

Food was average. Place was super packed and busy. They limited our carry out order to 4 items. They do NOT do a proper curbside during the summer. You are required to go inside and pickup. read more

Food and service both great, relaxed atmosphere. Had fish and chips and other seafood, all fresh and well made.

Great atmosphere and food...we had a party of 8 and tried everything from nachos to the Lewes style mp (salmon blackened)...there's an outside patio as well. read more

We were exploring Delaware and decided to go to Lewes for the tulip festival. The town of Lewes is historic and beautiful! So many cute unique shops right by the bay. One of the towns people recommended going to Striper Bites & Bistro for lunch so we decided to check it out! They have indoor and outdoor seating which is always a plus! It was a gorgeous day but a little windy so we decided to eat inside. The decor is cute, with sailboats hanging from the ceiling, which gave it the "by the bay" feel. Our waitress was nice but seemed like she was in a rush. Wasn't very personable to say the least. I ended up ordering a basic salad with crab cake on top. Salad was dry (nothing special) but the crab cake was TOOOO DIEEE FORRR! Some of the best I've ever had. I tried the coleslaw but it wasn't good. My boyfriend got a turkey reuben cheesesteak (he's not a fan of seafood) and macaroni salad on the side. Both were alright- nothing special. I figure the seafood options are the way to go at this restaurant. They also allow dogs in the outside seating area! read more

We highly recommend Striper Bites! It's a step above your typical beach town restaurant beginning with the welcoming, friendly attitude from the staff from the moment you step inside or when calling ahead for a reservation (recommended in peak season). Their servers are always attentive to our needs. Food allergies are taken seriously as evidenced by our servers never hesitating to check with the kitchen to verify any ingredient concerns. The manager also brings out any special dishes to the guest(s) and explains what the kitchen did to comply with the allergy - a nice touch lacking in many restaurants of this caliber. From the outside seating including a cozy wood-burning fireplace to the nautical decor inside complete with a unique collection of vintage vessels hanging from the ceiling, you're sure to enjoy your dining experience. read more

Striper Bites - Lunch on vacation. - Seafood Near Me - Lewes, Delaware

Saturday evening, 7:45 PM, President's weekend in Feb. An hour for a table. Good for them. We got two seats at the bar instead and so glad. He was an excellent bartender. Friendly but kept everyone served and happy. Tried a lemon drop martini, a Fat Tire draft (had had Dogfish Head beer earlier), and we shared a mahi mahi club ($14) sandwich on ciabatta. (We had had a late lunch at DFH tasting room). Sandwich was decent, not top notch. Choice of fries, pasta salad or slaw. We chose slaw which was good with yellow raisins but a little skimpy. Others nearby ordering apps at the bar had a crab sushi roll that looked skimpy, too, frankly. But the atmosphere, bartender, vibe all satisfying to us for our first trip ever to Lewes. Would try again for drinks for sure. read more

We were at Striper Bites on a Tuesday evening. We were told there was a 35 minute wait. Our table was ready in about 20 minutes. The waiter was pleasant but not overly attentive. I had the NorEaster which was a crab cake, scallops, and two shrimp. It was cooked just right. My wife had the Lobster roll and it was good but too small. We sat in the bar area which was very noisy which is not what we wanted on our anniversary. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was very nice. I would go back again. read more

Table of 7 sat right away on a Sunday night (off season)! Service was good. The crab bisque was thin and didn't have enough crab. However, the firecracker tuna roll was fantastic! We never had a chance to enjoy our drinks or our food because our server never came back to our table after dropping off our water and sodas. I've been to Striper Bites several times and have always had good food and service- our server was horrific and shouldn't be in this business. I am not being mean, I'm speaking from many years in the service industry. My rating is based on TODAY, not all the days prior. read more

Service was perfect considering how busy it was. The a/c was having a hard time keeping up amount of customers in the dining areas as it was getting pretty warm and made it a little uncomfortable. Loved the Crab Bisque, my kids loved the wing apps. The lobster roll was just so so, i actually prefer the one served at Friendly's for 1/2 the price. Portions are somewhat on the smaller side. I will give this place another shot and see if it improves read more

Enjoyed a delicious meal here this past August. Very cute establishment, and obviously popular in the area. We had a relatively short wait before being seated. We went last night for dinner to Striper Bites for lobster rolls. Their bruschetta was delicious and a great shareable. My crab bisque was so good! Just the way it's meant to be thick and creamy. A weak 4, but consistently good experiences overall after a few visits. Not a huge place, but I've managed to avoid ever having to wait long. Really cozy ambiance, great spot for a romantic date. And the town of Lewes couldn't get any cuter. This trip we used it as our final meal on vacation. Service is consistently good. Of course the beer list is on point! Now, the food. While everything I've gotten has been pretty good, nothing has ever stood out. Even the well acclaimed crab bisque was on the bland side. For the price I'd really like a more memorable food experience. Despite the food being unremarkable, the overall experience here is still an enjoyable one and worth the trip. read more

Walked in for dinner at 5:15 on a Saturday with no reservation and they were able to seat us quickly. Service was friendly and attentive and atmosphere was relaxed and fun -- busy but not too loud at all. We were surprised to see sushi on the menu so we decided to try it -- portions were super generous and absolutely delicious. The shrimp tempura rolls were awesome. We also had the halibut meal which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend and would definitely return next time we're in the area. read more

The place is as advertised. I knew by researching this place it was going to be a 4 or 5 before we even ate there. Sure even the reviews lived up to their praise. Waited for a table outside since absolutely nobody wanted to sit outside and we had our dog.., we waited 40 minutes for a table that was open.... because "we have to sit in order".... Even tho we were the only ones waiting for outside. Dumbest thing I ever heard, sat there watching an empty table just to sit there 40 minutes later. Food is overpriced and mediocre, I've had better calamari at Olive Garden. My husband got the lobster roll which came out half the size as advertised in the picture (and was $23!?!?) Also the blonde too young to be working looking host was extremely rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. Then proceeded to ignore us and roll her eyes when we asked for anything. 100% never going back there and recommend you don't either. read more

Sitting next to the bridge over the canal Striper Bites has a strong nautical theme going with boats and parts of boats and caught fish in among the rafters and stuck on the walls. If it were a little more down market I'd expect Captain Quint would come in after a long day. When we were there the bar was packed with what looked like happy locals, always a good sign, but there was no sense of exclusion. They were happy to see people there to enjoy their spot. Still the place is busy and lively with a friendly. When we arrived on a Friday evening without reservations we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. OK, we'll get a couple of drinks and wait. Maybe 5 or 7 minutes later, they had a table for us. The food is good and the prices are quite fair. The size of the cocktails is more than generous for the price. Naturally it leans towards seafood but the name and the building sign showing a striped bass does sort of give that way early on. A word of caution do NOT come on Friday nights. This is when they have some local 'talent,' I use the word with caution, singing live. The design of the place really doesn't muffle sound well and having someone singing, loudly, does nothing to improve this. The fact when we were there the caterwauler, I mean singer, was carrying on gamely enough despite the complete lack of support from his victims, I mean audience, did nothing to dissuade him from slaughtering the works of Petty, the Stones and god alone knows who else. THAT I could have joyfully avoided. read more
