We were 7 and a half people on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. This place is right next to the Lewes ferry terminal with a lot of outdoor seating and plenty indoors as well. We got seated immediately. There were some vegetarian options but seemed like they had some of everything on offer. They had a good selection of local and popular beers. I ordered a Beyond Burger for myself with fries. It was ok and the excellent service made up for anything with the food. Lovely ambiance with the ferry coming and going and a lovely view of the bay. Will be back definitely.

I don't understand the negative reviews, we had a great lunch! Stopped here before our trip over to Cape May on the Cape May Lewes ferry. Great menu, friendly service, nice views on the water!

    Our baby enjoying the view

The ambiance is amazing! The waitress is great! We were able to sit peacefully with our dog on her first trip on the ferry! She was comfortable and that is the most important thing! The waitress brought her a bowl of water as soon as we sat down! The prices are what they are! The cheesesteak egg rolls were very hot but the quality of the meat not so great! The Caesar salad was ok! The pork mac and cheese was cold and runny! If you're coming for the food buyer bewar

Service friendly but presumptuous. The clam chowder was tasty but totally missing significant amounts of clams, potatoes or anything except celery,

Great convenience with location at the ferry, with views! Outdoor seating in season. Food is average - perfectly fine for sandwiches and salads. We had the crab soup, which was overly salty. The server was very gracious and took it back. Overall great service.

We ate here on a Monday evening around 6ish. We went here after arriving on the ferry because it is conveniently located at the harbor. We were promptly seated (we ate outside because we had our dog with us). They had giant fans to help cool down patrons dining outside, which we appreciated because it was a hot and humid evening. Our server was a very friendly, professional, and prompt young man. He quickly got us and our dog drinks and appetizer order. Short thereafter he delivered our drinks and took our entree order. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were delicious! They were served with a spicy ketchup, which complimented them well and was surprisingly tasty! I had their cheeseburger and fries and my wife had their lobster roll. We both enjoyed our meals, and would recommend eating here when taking a ride on the ferry. Both the service and food provided a pleasant dining experience!

Service was fine. Ambiance was cute. Food was awful. Burger was overdone and the crab Mac and cheese had only celery and no crab. There was no seasoning in anything, food was overcooked yet cold.

Wanted to take a ferry from Lewes to cape May but arrived 1 hour early . Didn't know what to do and wanted to have some light food . Kids and us ordered few things . This place had a few bars inside and outside. Ambience was good and lots of tables inside to dine in . Service was pretty slow... waitress never comes to us to ask for stuff .. they said they had draft beers on tap but when we asked for something to taste , they said their draft didn't work well. They gave us some bottled beers. Food was very average . Bean burger was like half cooked . Fries were bland and didn't have salt/ pepper . Tater tots were really good . Wings was crispy but the sauce was too sticky ... Nachos was also ok . Overall very below average food experience . 2/5 overall ..

Perfect spot for a drink while waiting for the ferry to depart! Solid drink selection, generous bartenders lovely views by the water. Jennifer is awesome! Indoor and outdoor dining areas available but we prefer to sit at the bar. We would come back for drinks and atmosphere alone. Very chill and relaxing. Highly recommended!

The view from the bar counter out to the patio, which is on the water.

Considering it's right next door to a major ferry terminal, the Grain is a surprisingly pleasant space to pass the time while waiting to board your ride to Cape May. Indoors is clean, spacious and well lit, with sorta new-ish industrial but modern decor and a really nice happy hour - $5 beers! with an okay tap list. Outside you have a sprawling patio with great views of the bay (and ferry). I only stopped in for a beer so I can't speak to the food, but the bartender was nice and the service was quick. If I'm ever in the area again I would definitely head over.

I came on a Monday to get some food and drinks. I ordered the salmon blt which was really tasty! I also got a cosmo which was standard and Chardonnay. It wasn't too crowded at the outside bar so I sat with a view of the water. As I was there, the ferry docked which was fun to see. Another picture in my review was from last year sitting at a large table with another great view at sunset. They also have a cute outdoor area with play toys for the kids, seats, a fire pit and more. Will be back again!

Hi. How far is the walk from parking? Is it doable for people who have difficulty with long walks (canes, walkers, etc.)?

It really depends on how busy it is. The lot is out front, but of course, the closer spaces fill up first. Spots that are far are several hundred yards away. Close spots are probably 100 feet from the door.

Their Thursday night steak special is great. An 8oz of filet mignon and a 10$ credit towards a glass of wine for $35. The cheeseboard is also really good. My appetizer was ok, was hoping for it to be a little better (the shrimp & polenta). We also had olives and the baked Brie. Entrees 2 pork chops, mine was a little thinner than our guest. He really enjoyed it; I did as well as I got closer to the bone it was better. The first couple of bites seemed to be dry. We also had the lamb shank and a burger to go with our Black Stallion Cabernet. We will be back again supporting local independent restaurants. I do wish they had 1/2 stars, I would then give it 3.5.

I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Perhaps it was an off day for the staff and this wasn't a typical experience, but I won't go back.

As soon as you walk in, you can feel that polished, higher end atmosphere, and the canal views make for a really nice setting. I went during the off season in early March and caught their Wednesday night Steak and Cake special. For $36 you get a six ounce filet mignon, a crab cake, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a Caesar salad. For a restaurant of this caliber, that's a pretty solid deal. The Caesar salad came out fresh and crisp, and for the first time ever I noticed something you rarely see anymore -- two small sardine strips on top, which is actually the traditional way to serve a true Caesar. The entree was nicely plated. The filet was ordered medium. Parts of it were cooked perfectly and very tender, though a couple bites were a little chewy. The crab cake was the highlight. Very meaty with minimal filler, which is exactly what you want this close to the Delaware coast. Mashed potatoes had that homemade style with a few lumps. Some people love that rustic feel, though I personally prefer them a little smoother. The green beans were simply steamed but had great flavor. Service was excellent. My waitress Kim was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, including the restrooms. Overall, a very enjoyable meal with great flavor across the board. I'd definitely come back and would be curious to see what the atmosphere is like here during the busy summer season.

Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.
