This place is a locally owned restaurant in Bethany. I love everything here! They are in the heart of Bethany with lots of local shopping. Grab a bite to eat and shop local. The owners are the best and the food is delicious! I love their breakfast and I can choose healthier options. I love their club sandwich and fries and on Fridays they have their catfish! So good and they will run out before dinner so stop in for lunch and give it a try. They close at 2pm during the week and are open till 8 Friday and Saturday. Sundays closed. I just want to say thank you to this business for everything during covid. They are incredible! read more

I'm incredibly sad to be writing this with this review but after the fourth time of coming to what my husband and I had hoped to be our new place, we learned that unless we are already a regular or the place is very slow then you will probably need a snack before you order. The service is barely acceptable, they aren't really friendly and only once did anyone look happy to help us or be there. Last weekend my husband and I waited almost twenty minutes just to order water. It caused us to miss the breakfast options, usually I'm laid back and don't mind but we weren't asked about our order for another 15 minutes. So there was more than a half hour that it should have still been an option. While I watched the tables around us get help and waitresses dodge eye contact we started to feel like the stray dog no one wants. What upsets me the most is the food is pretty solid and could be exceptional when you can finally get past the bad taste of the atmosphere. You can get breakfast and a hot dog with mac and cheese on it in one place. What more should you have to ask for? The pie they make is delish no matter the slice. An if you have a chance to get any thing with the caramel that they make in house for the pecan rolls. Do it! The one happy time we had a very sweet gentlemen brought that out to try on apples before we ate. We moved to a neighborhood very close to this restaurant and we were really hoping for a place that acts inviting. We may try stray dog in the future but for the time being we will go to other places that offer a warmer welcome. read more

The meal starts with popcorn in a dog bowl, which was a fun touch. The popcorn was made fresh. I had the hog dog with homemade mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy and wonderful. The hot dog bun was the delightful thick piece of bread. It made the whole hot dog quite delicious. My boyfriend had the coconut pie and I tried a couple bites. It was more pudding-like than we expected, but it was tasty and packed with coconut flavor. We'd go back! read more

I was just looking for somewhere new while in this area that wasn't fast food. This is a great burger place. The service was extremely friendly, the food was fantastic. You get a dog dish with popcorn while you wait for your food to come out! I really loved this place and if I'm in the area again, I will surely make the effort to stop in and eat some more. Love trying out family restaurants! We stopped by on Friday evening and my husband and I had the catfish special. It had nice sized portions with large filets with homemade cornmeal batter. They give you free popcorn as an appetizer. Also had a slice of cookie dough pie that our waitress warmed up for me to a perfect temperature. They had many different types of pie to choose from. The Stray Dog Café is so convenient for my friends and me to meet for lunch! There is always a lunch special described on the board as you enter. On this day, the special was a pork chop with sides, and although none of us ordered it, we saw many people in the restaurant enjoying the meal. The menu that I have found online does not do the actual menu justice. I ordered the Stray Dog Combo---2 Chili Cheese Dogs with onions, chips, and a drink for around $9. The most unusual thing at the table was the Chili Mac Dog---a hot dog with macaroni and cheese, and chili! Wait staff was friendly, very busy (but very attentive), and have some really good suggestions! Lots of cool shops surround this wonderful café, so there's plenty to do in downtown Bethany after you eat. read more

I have eaten at Stray Dog a number of times. Always order the full Bedlam breakfast because it's so darned good! I meet a couple of friends who live in Yukon and Stray Dog is THE perfect halfway meeting point. We had great service this morning! When we got to the café around 8 a.m. it was nice and quiet but as we gabbed and caught up on each other's lives, tables were being filled with customers . Not too bad and we were probably the loudest table in the place, we are loud talkers and laughers. ANYWAY! Three different meals . . . three extremely satisfied diners. Coffee, fresh and hot. Service was immediate, take a few sips of coffee . . . they filled it back up. Our meals were freshly cooked and delicious! I have yet to have Stray Dog lunch but I can attest to their delectable breakfast. OH! I always forget to get one of their sticky rolls. Shame on me! read more

As soon as you walk in here, it smells like bacon! At least it did this morning! What a great spot! The welcome! The breakfast! The warm atmosphere! Perfect! Today was the day I finally stopped off for breakfast. I had my 2 soft poached eggs and dry toast - might sound boring but...they got it right! The eggs were cooked just right and the toast was dry with butter on the side! I was happy! It's always a daring choice, my 2 soft poached eggs - it makes or breaks my breakfast! Did I mention they make real cinnamon rolls? WOW! They are just what you need to get the day going! I got one for the road! I am looking forward to going back! read more

(3/6/2020) Super cute local cafe in a strip of antique malls on a quaint piece of Route 66 main street. Classic midwest (in my east coast mind's eye). Got the Stray Dog, since it seemed a unique local product, Schwab Meat Co. old school classic beef and pork frank (makers of the OKC Thunder Dog). It was a well-seasoned, juicy, gloppy, messy, delicious dog. Love the seasoned fried. Tabouli was somewhat underseasoned, and seemed out of place to me, until after reading the history of Lebanese steakhouses in Oklahoma and the midwest. We are dog (canine) lovers, so were tickled pink with the theme, like gratis popcorn served in dog bowls. The pies are to die for, especially the blueberry lemon. We were a mixed-generational group in town for a family reunion. Seating is fairly limited, it's a small place, and when we came in with a group of 7, they kindly asked a nearby table to move so that we could be seated together (and that table of police officers kindly obliged). The staff took care of the elders and let them linger and chat while others shopped at the nearby antique stores. Def stop in if you're by this way. read more

I had breakfast at Stray Dog on a Friday at about 9. The place was at least 80% full and it was bustling like it was the weekend. Servers were running back and forth, guys leaving the kitchen to deliver orders. Very chaotic and noisy. I'm not complaining, and good for Stray Dog to be that busy on a weekday. It did make service a bit of a problem though. My food took a long while to arrive. I wasn't paying attention to how long, but it was long enough that my server felt the need to apologize for it, which I appreciated. After I was finished, I had to wait several minutes to flag someone down to get my check. Even though it was so hectic everyone was very friendly. I can't recall the name of the omelet, I ordered, but it had jack cheese, jalapenos, and sausage. It comes with a side of salsa, potatoes, and your choice of bread. I went with a biscuit and sausage gravy, because carbs. As I said above, it took some time for my food to arrive. But, when it did it was hot and fresh. It clearly hadn't been sitting on a counter waiting to be delivered. I had to ask for a side plate for the biscuit, as the plate I was given was so crammed with food there was no way to maneuver. Very good value for $7. The omelet was good, not great. The cheese was only in the middle of it, so about 40% of the omelet had no cheese. I could have used a bit more jalapenos as well, I was expecting it to be spicier. That being said, the omelet was well above average when I got bites with every ingredient. The salsa was typical store-bought salsa, which was a disappointment. I just used hot sauce from the table. The potatoes were served extra crispy, exactly how I ordered them. They needed salt and pepper, but more care was given to them than you typically see with hash browns. They weren't just grated and smashed on the flat top in a rectangular shape. Maybe my favorite component of the meal, very well executed. The biscuit was large, fluffy, with a slightly crunchy exterior. It wasn't too dense, but it also wasn't airy. And, it was very hot, to the point that steam escaped when I opened it. Very solid biscuit, also well above average. The gravy was a traditional cream gravy with some sausage. Not so much I would call it "sausage gravy," but enough that you could taste it. I found it needed pepper, but otherwise it was a nice consistency and went very well with the biscuit. I enjoyed the other side of the biscuit with butter and strawberry jam, which I highly recommend. Overall, a very solid value for a breakfast that had some high points. If I am up in this part of town again, I would definitely return. read more

It was so good! Tried the breakfast with a friend and went back a day later for dinner. First the wait staff is so friendly and takes great care of the diners. I had the simple 1 x 1. One pancake, one egg and one meat. I added the optional pecans for 75 cents. The pancake was a good size and I appreciate they gave sugar free syrup. The server asked which we preferred. How nice! I didn't know they had both. They also offer gluten free pancakes. The next day for dinner one of us had a chili burger with fries. The fries were hand cut and delicious. The burger was very good. The other party had the dinner special of grilled pork rib-eye with roasted potatoes and asparagus with Parmesan cheese and a role. He found it to be awesome. All well seasoned and the pork tender enough to cut with a fork. This is a great diner and we will go back soon read more

A friend and I started coming here this summer. We used to meet at different breakfast spots around the city, but we both liked the Dog so much it has become our only spot to eat before we ride. They serve up a full plate and the baked items are great, fresh bread, rolls, English muffins. I can't recall any breakfast place serving homemade baked goods. The breakfast selection is large and varied and I've tried the omelettes, eggs, pancakes, grits, fresh fruit and it's all tasty. I haven't been for lunch or dinner yet, but if judging from the breakfast the food will be great. A few times the server could have been more attentive to refills, but when I caught their eye they came right over. It's usually busy on a Saturday morning, but if you get there by 8-8:30 you can get a table right away. read more

Everything was super warm and tasty. Had a chicken salad... warm chicken and crisp, cold veggies. Husband had a cheeseburger and fries and it was gone very quickly. The dessert though. Homemade pies and sticky buns. Can I have one of each? Nope, but I can go back until I've tried them all! Only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is that the patio needs a fan. Slow service. 18 min wait for order to be taken & they weren't even busy. No apologies received for that wait or for the 35 min wait for 1 soup & 1 BLT, which had ONE piece of bacon, one tiny piece of lettuce, one slice of unripe tomato. When I brought to waiter's attention , he said,"Yeah, I know. I can bring you a side of bacon." I asked if I would be charged for the side of bacon. He said yes, so I declined; the BLT was already overpriced. I wonder if they rely too much on Bethany citizens' devotion to local businesses. read more

My family and I have eaten here twice now. Both times, our food was good, and everyone working there was extremely nice. That being said, on our first visit it took us 45 minutes to get our food (two burgers and fries), and today it took over an hour. While the place was pretty packed both times, there are only 8 booths and another 8 tables. This place has been open for a while and should know to handle a lunch rush by now. Our waitress kept our drinks topped off while we waited, but I drank six glasses of iced tea (one every ten minutes) until our food arrived. A friend of mine (who recommended the place) said it's my fault for going during lunch. I guess if you're looking for a place to eat lunch that you shouldn't go to during lunchtime, this is your place. I feel bad saying we won't be back because the people there were quite nice, but the service is simply too slow for us. Nothing we ate was worth waiting over an hour for. read more

This place was affordable and clean. Friendly staff, but kinda seemed like they were going through the paces. Just kinda every day hum drum. I had the bedlam breakfast with bacon. Hash browns were very good, so was the bacon. The biscuits were a little over done, when I sliced my fork into them they were crunchy and hard to cut through. It seems they only have one waitress and one gofer (meaning she fills coffee, tends the register, and clears tables). I say this because when we had breakfast, my dad had decaf and I had regular. He had a refill but I wasn't ready. We did not see her again to refill until we were done and then she came around almost too often then because we were ready to leave. I will give them another chance because SDC has really good reviews. I just wanted to share my experience to all on yelp. read more

My husband and I tried out the restaurant after reading through the reviews. You'd either love it or you'd hate it from them, lol. We walked in and were unsure if we waited or seated ourselves. I later found the sign. The entire place turned to look at us but said nothing. Finally a young man asked if we needed anything. My husband, being the nicer one of the two of us, asked if we seated ourselves. By this time, I'm leaving. He wanted us to give it a try. A young lady finally comes over and says we can sit outside if we want. She took our drink orders and brought out the popcorn, like all the other reviews stated. We ordered and finally got our food. We waited on silverware that never came. My husband went back inside and got it for us. Again, we waited on ketchup. Never came. My husband went back inside to get that. 20 minutes later, no one has come back, we have no ticket, and the hotdogs weren't even as good as the ones at OnCue! Yes, a gas station. By this time I've had it. I go back inside to try and pay. I waited for someone to finally make eye contact, so that I could pay for this disappointing experience. We were visiting Oklahoma City from our home in Texas. Not knowing anything about the city, I went on Yelp looking for good reviews on nearby local restaurants. As usual, Yelp did not disappoint. The Stray Dog was a quaint little diner tucked away in a strip shopping mall. We had the catfish special for lunch & substituted macaroni & cheese for the coldslaw. The fish was delicious---hot & crispy with just the right amount of seasoning in the batter. And the mac & cheese was very creamy & flavorful. The one miss was the doggie bowl appetizer of stale popcorn, which did nothing to add to the cuisine. It was a distraction that was out of place & unnecessary. However, all the employees were very pleasant & helpful, with Grey being our waiter. I would love to come back for breakfast if we're ever in OK City again. read more

I wanted to try a new place for breakfast/brunch so I looked to yelp to show me a new place. I found this little gem of a restaurant tucked between a few antique stores on NW 39 expressway. I loved the atmosphere! It was very clean and the booths were comfy! They had plenty of seating and were busy for a Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning. The wait staff was wonderful! We sat and chatted for close to 2 hours and they kept our drinks full and didn't rush us. Sylvia is a wonderful waitress. The food was delicious. I had an open faced biscuit with sausage gravy scrambled egg and cheese with bacon and hash browns. I had the half order and it was plenty. The food all tasted fresh and made from scratch.
