Cafe Kacao is simply the best -- 10/10 across the board. The food is incredible and the drinks are just as amazing. I had the pupusas, the best carajillo I've ever had, and a chocolate espresso martini that was absolutely perfect. Everything was flavorful and worth the hype. One thing to know: this place is very popular, so make sure you join the waitlist early. I joined just before 8am and didn't get seated until around 11am. Even with the wait, it was 100% worth it and I'd absolutely come back.

Always a pleasure to dine in with Cafe Kacao. The food was gorgeous and flavorful. The lattes are cozy and delicious. And the new ambience is amazing! Can't want to go back soon.

Amazing everything! The Bloody Mary was dressed beautifully and tasted spot on. The menu is brilliant showing all the details of the food. Speaking about the food, it's worth the hype. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere was vibrant, with a coastal cafe feeling. Check in for a seat for a shorter wait time once you check in with the host

My friend brought me here for brunch before dropping me off at the airport, and I'm glad this was my last meal in OKC! I ordered a Horchata Latte, and we both shared one sweet and one savory dish. Mango Pancakes - these pancakes are the fluffiest you'll ever have! Drizzled with house-made lechera and blackberry bourbon sauce, and topped with mango and berries. Vaca Frita Pupusas - perfect for sharing, this comes with two cheese and pork pupusas topped with Cuban style grilled shredded beef and onions, two eggs, hollandaise, and chicharron crumbles. This was SO good and it would be hard to convince me to order something else if I'm ever in OKC again!

Came here from a local's recommendation and really enjoyed it. Excellent artwork, ambiance, and service. Lots of menu options. I'm writing this review a bit delayed but I remember really loving the house made tortillas stuffed with beans that came with my Moteleño. They were thicker than I've had in the past and it was the perfect finishing touch for me. I've been craving it ever since. Great veggie options. My mom's chicken dish was also great. The wild berry pancakes were just ok in my opinion. I think I was expecting a bit more of a tres leches type taste with the lechera sauce which is my bad just not having ever had it before. Got it as a dessert. It's not that sweet if that's what you're looking for, but if you want a not-too-sweet option then it could be perfect. It was very beautiful. Would absolutely go back here. Service was again wonderful.

YES, you should eat here...But if you're reading this, make sure you prepare yourself for the Waitlist. This is an award winning restaurant for a reason and it's tiny! But if you play your cards right, you'll get in and enjoy a delicious meal. After hearing about this place for years, my cousin and I decided to give the waitlist a try for an 11am target on a Thursday. I put my name in around 9:30am and saw I was on the queue. It worked out as we checked in and got in around 11:15am. They have takeout if you don't want to wait! Now the FOOD. Wait, first the strawberry-banana smoothie was HUGE and so delicious. Not overly sweet. Same for the latte my cousin got - how do they make it so perfect?! We ordered the Carne Asada lunch and French Toast with fresh berries and sliced bananas to share. Everything was full of flavor and seasoned to perfection. The French Toast is coated and slightly crunchy. I would agree the food is worth the hype. The decor is bright and colorful. It's loud so don't expect a quiet experience. Enjoy the positive energy of the spot, it goes with the food! Service was excellent and helpful if you're a newbie. I hope all Oklahomies and visitors get a chance to experience this wonderful gem of a restaurant.

The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and accomodating to the needs of my disabled husband. The food was delicious and the presentation was delightful. Portions were perfect and well worth the price. I had the abuelito iced latte. It was full of flavor. We had the french toast and ranchero omlet. I recommend trying both. The atmosphere is friendly and enjoyable. Not too noisy.

Flowers well deserved (claps) I have had this place on my radar for a while due to Yelp's top brunch spots a couple years back. After trying it for myself, it will also be going on my personal list of most memorable brunch spots! Ambiance: place was packed with customers, but we did not feel squished, and our server was a literal ray of sunshine (I wish I could shout out but I forgot their name). He was very thorough and happy to answer our questions about their menu, drinks, and recommendations. I do recommend calling ahead and getting on the waitlist though. The food came in massive (**massive**) portions, definitely delivering on the value front. The pancakes (3/5) were a bit underwhelming (soft and one note, but it was saved by the blueberry topping and mango compote. The softness and fluffiness may be a plus for some, but I prefer a bit more substance and flavor for mine! The burrito (5/5) was amazing, all the sauces were phenomenal (no notes), and the coffee (4/5) was pretty good Definitely got to try a lot of flavors that I normally do not get to at a brunch spot. I love the way that they served Guatemalan flavors in a very accessible and fun way. Most of all, the pride and excitement with which everything was presented was infectious and made for a great experience.

Passing through OKC on a cross country drive from LA and saw this on Yelp 100. Super cute interior, very buzzy (Tuesday morning at 10am and it was full!), wonderful service! We got puppoosa and cochinita pibil. Both very good and huge portions. The pibil had nice texture but I wish there was a bit more spice or acidity.l (if you know Guisados in LA you will understand!). Coffee was very good. Definitely a standout spot in a city that feels mostly bar / steakhouse oriented - although I hear there's great Vietnamese here.

Holy Cow! A buddy of mine recommended this little gem. We love trying unique local places. Pro tip get on waitlist early! Once the crowd hits they are packed. Plantains were amazing! Its hard to find good plantains in the states. But these were perfectly cooked and caramelized. Our waiter brought us a special whipped cream cheese to go with them and holy cow it was a 1 2 punch of flavor. My omelette was cooked exactly how it was supposed to be. Tender chunks of carne asada and flavorful pico throughout. The cubanero sauce had a great depth of flavor. They also brought some jalapeño hot sauce which made my tongue tingle! My daughter had some things that i cant pronounce but was absolutely delicious. The pupusas were so delicious and fresh. My nutella latte was a nice delight with some fancy artwork on top! Dont walk but run to this spot and tell me its not worth it! Huge plates of food for a fair price!

We came to Oklahoma from Texas to visit some friends and see a few sights, and Cafe Kacao was featured on many "Best of..." lists for the city. A lot of reviews made mention of the wait times and getting on the waitlist, as there are no reservations. You can only join the wait list once you are within 40 miles of the restaurant, so we could not join the waitlist until the morning of, as our train arrived the night before. I was a little stressed about this, but luckily the Yelp app gives you a suggested time to join the waitlist for your desired arrival time. For a party of 4, the waitlist recommended joining 2 hours early, so I joined the list at 9am for an 11am meal. This worked out perfectly, as we only needed to wait outside for about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. The restaurant features a lovely mural on the outside wall, and is located just outside downtown OKC. The interior has some interesting ceiling light arrangements, many awards lining the walls, and is overall cozy (but packed). Our waiter was really enthusiastic about answering any questions in detail, which helped as we hadn't had Guatemalan food before. I got the Vaca Frita Pupusas, which was, "Two cheese and pork pupusas topped with Cuban style shredded beef and onions, two eggs, hollandaise, chicharron crumble." and my girlfriend had, Carne Adobada, "Grilled pork steak, fried plantains, black beans, rice, papas criollas & two corn tortillas." I hadn't had pupusas before, and found them very filling and tasty. The eggs, beef, and hollandaise all really were good additions. I also had "off menu" blood-orange juice, which I loved as it was less sweet than orange juice, and had some grapefruit quality to it in terms of tartness. My girlfriend said her pork steak and plantains were especially yummy! Our guests devoured their plates and said the coffee was quite good too. The restaurant was packed and loud with conversations, making it easy to have a private discussion about anything in public if desired. We had a lovely meal with guests, and the food felt unique, filling, and tasty. This made for a special start to a nice vacation.

Believe the hype! This place was wonderful! The food was amazing but the coffee!! The coffee was the best! Ended up scheduling on the waitlist ahead of time. Checked in when we arrived and it was about a hour wait. The service was efficient and he was on point!

When coming to Cafe Kacao always have to get the French toast which is delicious--golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfectly sweet. A comforting, satisfying breakfast. Also tried a mocha latte for the first time. What was very sweet and tasty? Definitely, will go back and try it again. I server was very nice, and she told us a special for the day. I love Cafe Kacao.

The interior is comfortable, charming and a bit whimsical. We started with an order of cheese sticks. They were very good and large. I liked that the cheese sticks did not have Italian seasoning in the breading. Jan ordered the chicken fried ribeye with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and green beans. Jan loved it. I took a bite of the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. The green beans were very good. They were loaded with garlic, which I love, but if you're not a garlic fan, I would suggest another side. I ordered the grilled chicked sandwich with waffle fries. The sandwich was good and the waffle fries were excellent. The portions are large and the food quality excellent. The prices reasonable. The menu has variety. I ordered pancakes 3 ways - creme brûlée, blueberry with lemon & a pig in a blanket along with 2 scrambled eggs & the candied bacon Hubs got the breakfast tacos, side of bacon and an Irish coffee Candied bacon came out with the Irish coffee quick - both were so good! I'm not a pepper fan so when I saw it on the candied bacon I was nervous, but it didn't overpower the flavor at all Next came the tacos & my smazing plate of gluten free PANCAKES!!!! The tacos looked good, but in all honesty I didn't ask if it was good because I was SO focused on my plate :) The pig in a blanket was my fave - the bourbon syrup was so good, there was a little spice to the sausage which was a nice balance The blueberry lemon was great - light, flavorful and just yummy The creme brulee which I was anticipating the most - was good, but wasn't my fave - maybe I was too full by the time I got to it but it wasn't as nummy as I'd hoped I'll be coming back next time I'm in town

That price isn't even including a tip. This place has always been pricier than the rest, but a couple years ago they used to give your to-go coffees in a mason jar so it was justified. Now the mason jars are gone, the cups are barely bigger than a claw clip, and somehow they're charging even more. This was my fourth time here and I wanted to give them another shot, but it'll have to be my last try. You can get much better coffee at a much more fair price at other places in the city. The only strength Elemental has is that it has a bit longer food menu than other cafes, but if you're paying more than $20 for a tiny coffee and a mediocre snack then you are wasting your time and money. Also, I don't expect you to yell a welcome or fall on your knees to greet me when I walk in, but the service here is miserable and always has been. The barista asked me how I was doing, to which I said good thank you, then just stared at me for a good few seconds. I guess that means go ahead and order here. A simple "what would you like today" would suffice. Most places you get used to waiting a second while the barista prepares the system, so if that's not the case, just say something. Then they hand you your to-go drink without a lid, because the $9.50 you spent doesn't cover that level of labor and you need to do it yourself. I love to support our local coffee shops here in OKC, but you'll never find me recommending Elemental. Which is a shame, because the mason jars in my cabinet at home are a good reminder of when they served unique and fairly priced coffee. I am so thoroughly disappointed that I made an account just to say this. At least the espresso is okay.
