Blue Mushroom Burger and Sweet Potato Fries

This place has great burgers! I really enjoyed it the flavor was great and the burger was well cooked. Servers were prompt and nice. The restaurant is an old timey place so it isn't trendy but nice food that is cheap!

Pumpkin pancakes with bacon (daily breakfast special)

Now open for a decade, Stray Dog Cafe continues to offer excellent service and delicious food in the heart of Bethany. I was excited to try it when it opened in 2013, and it hasn't disappointed me yet. My favorite meal here is breakfast, and that's what the four of us had on a cold, rainy October Saturday morning. To start, I parked in the parking lot behind the shopping center in which Stray Dog lies. That's safer than using the on-street parking, and there are plenty of spots to choose from. Just make sure you avoid the potholes throughout the lot. Having parked in the rear parking lot, I entered through the back door. A few feet into the restaurant, I could smell all the delicious smells of breakfast. I also noticed that they were selling pumpkin pancakes as a daily breakfast special. I usually get either pancakes or French toast for breakfast at Stray Dog, so I took note. When it came time to order, I went with the pumpkin pancakes. They were delicious! They got the pumpkin pie spice just right in the batter -- enough to make me notice it but not so much that it left a spicy taste or gritty texture in my mouth. The pecans were scattered on top. I would have preferred them baked into the pancakes, but I didn't know to request it that way when I placed my order. There was also a sugary pumpkin spice flavored drizzle on top of the stack of two pancakes. They almost didn't need any syrup on them! However, I indulged in some syrup and was not disappointed. I requested crispy bacon as my meat side. It wasn't as crispy as I like, but I wasn't in the mood to send it back. As usual, bacon balanced out the sweet and spicy of the pancake with its salty and flavors. I can't wait to come again during the winter and try another breakfast special on pancakes or French toast.

I am a lover of a good diner!! For all of my visits to OKC, this was my first time to visit Bethany. What a darling little town. I could almost feel the history oozing through the building walls. Stray Dog Cafe is where we chose to eat before walking the aisles of The Rink. It was a typical, well-visited diner. We were greeted by our friendly, attentive waitress almost immediately upon taking our seat and a yummy bowl of popcorn was set before us. Burgers..not a frozen pattie, hand cut fries and chips are what we ordered and we were not disappointed!! The burgers were perfectly cooked. The fries and chips were delicious. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert because those homemade pies looked scrumptious. Why only four stars? Because the breakfast menu ended at 11 rather than being all day. Good food, fair prices, great service; We'll be stopping back in next time we're in town! Thanks for a yummy meal!

A friend and I stopped in on a whim and so glad we did! Their homemade buns are delicious and usually I don't finish my meal but I did that day. I even took a slice of their chocolate chip cookie dough pie home for later . Service was great and will definitely add this to my list of places to revisit!

We stumbled into this place walking around downtown and we were craving desserts. You can get pies by the slice. We tried lime, coconut and blueberry pie. They were all so delicious and tasted homemade. This has been a regular hangout for my girlfriends. We also did a surprise baby shower another day. They worked with us to get all kinds of pie to make one pie since there wasn't whole pies that way. They did an awesome job. Also not pictured is their homemade potato chips and sweet potato fries are so so delicious. I really need to come back and try their hot dogs and burgers because they look amazing as well. I just keep coming for pie! Lol If you're around Bethany, I definitely recommend this place.

That led us back to Biglow's Burgers, and once again, they didn't disappoint. If you're on the hunt for one of the best burgers or sandwiches in OKC, this place absolutely deserves a spot on your list. Even though we've visited several times, this was our first time trying the fried pickles. Crispy, golden, and with just the right kick of heat -- easily some of the better ones I've had around town. We decided to split "The Holy Cow," and wow... what a sandwich. It's basically Oklahoma comfort food done right: a hand-breaded, tenderized chicken fried steak served on a buttery grilled brioche bun, piled with shredded lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and mayo. Messy in the best possible way. It comes with hand-cut fries, which were fresh and perfectly cooked. We skipped the seasoning and salted them ourselves (personal preference), and they were spot on. One heads up -- some menu items have limited availability, so if you're craving something specific, don't wait too long. Bottom line: great food, generous portions, and that classic local joint vibe that keeps you coming back. We'll definitely be back again soon. Comfort food done right.

Bunny's Burgers - Back After 20 Years!…read more It's been two decades since I last ate at Bunny's, and walking back in brought a wave of nostalgia. I remember grabbing their famous onion burgers to-go back in the day--always left smelling like grilled onions (in the best way). The place is now under new ownership and has gotten a bit of a facelift. It's small and cozy with about 6 tables inside, 5 stools at the counter, and a few tables outside on the patio. We came between lunch and dinner, so it was quiet--perfect for checking out the updated menu. What I Ordered: Philly Cheesesteak - I came in wanting a burger, but the cheesesteak caught my eye. I'm a sucker for a good Philly. It came with Swiss (no Cheese Whiz), and while the flavor was solid, the bun fell apart halfway through. Hand-cut fries were okay--not really my style. I'd probably stick with a burger next time. What My Wife Had: Chili Cheeseburger with Raw Onions - Good flavor and a nice kick from the chili. The raw onions gave it that old-school Bunny's vibe. Overall: Glad we gave it another try, but next time, we're definitely going for the onion burger--that's what Bunny's is known for, and it's what we should've ordered. Still, it was great to revisit an old favorite with a fresh new feel. The service was great and our meal came out quickly. Unlike me that I didn't ask for our servers name. She did a great job!

If you're on a mission to find the best burger in Oklahoma, like I am, then let me point you to…read moreyour first stop--The Patty Wagon. I recently picked up the Burger Passport and kicked things off here, and honestly... it was the perfect place to start. I had been here about two years ago and remembered being impressed--but this visit confirmed it. Saturday night? Packed. Only a couple tables open, steady line, great energy. That's always a good sign when you're chasing great burgers. We ordered, grabbed a table, and settled in for about a 15-minute wait--no problem. Now came the real challenge... Do I play it safe with a classic burger... or go off the rails? Then I saw it. The Chef Special: "The Nutty Narc." A single patty topped with thick-cut bacon, peanut butter, and a dollop of marshmallow. Yeah... you read that right. Most people might hesitate--but if you're serious about finding the best burger, you've got to be willing to explore the full menu. I'm not just here for the basics--I'm here for ALL of it. And let me tell you... this burger was an experience. Sweet, savory, salty--completely outside the norm, but somehow it works. Not for everyone, but definitely for someone like me who's willing to take the ride. Meanwhile, my wife went the smarter route--build-your-own with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheddar. Classic. Balanced. And after one bite... I can confirm--it was excellent. Now let's talk fundamentals, because this is where great burger spots separate themselves: The Bun. This is a big one for me. Does it hold up? Does it fall apart halfway through? The staff was rocking shirts claiming they have the "best buns"... and I'll back that up. Soft, structured, and held together from first bite to last. That's how it's done. The Fries. We tried both the hand-cut and sweet potato fries. Solid across the board--good, but not the star of the show. And that's okay... because the burger is the show. The Vibe. Laid-back, energetic, and full of people who clearly know where to get a good burger. That kind of crowd tells you everything you need to know. Final Take: The Patty Wagon delivers--whether you stick with a classic or take a wild swing like the Nutty Narc. If you're serious about burgers in OKC, this place belongs on your list. This is just stop #1 on my Burger Passport journey... and if this is the starting point, I'm in for one hell of a ride. Rating: (for the burger alone) Fries? Good. Buns? Legit. Creativity? Off the charts.

The space is casual and reasonably clean, and it definitely gets busy during lunch. Be prepared to wait, as everything is cooked to order. I ordered the single patty combo. Our meal ended up being more expensive than other burger joints we've tried, especially since everything is à la carte--including sauces--which adds up quickly. It would've been nice if they provided a tray for the food, too. As for the burger, the beef patty lacked seasoning, so the focus really fell on the toppings--but even then, the overall flavor was pretty flat. The bun was too sweet for my taste. The fries were also a miss--more burnt than crispy. That said, their housemade sauces were a highlight. The ranch and fry sauce were both really good and added some much-needed flavor. Small detail, but I also appreciated that they have Coke and Dr Pepper. Service is counter-style, but the staff who brought out our food were warm and friendly. She even told us to leave everything on the table, and she'd take care of it once we were about to leave.

While some of the wording was different, I was able to order the exact same burger I fell in love with years ago and the flavor instantly sent me back to the first time I tried it. I ordered the MOB XL Burger Basket with Jalapenos, avocado, and loaded fries. The jalapenos here aren't just regular jalapenos. They are flavor country (also very hot). If you like spicy food, these are the best burger jalapenos in the city imo. My gf ordered the regular single with jalapenos and was annihilated by the spice. She's kind of a wimp when it comes to spice but she trucked through it because the flavors are so good. Long story short, this is still my fav burger in OKC (by a long shot). The fact that this place isn't always highly-rated in a state where people worship Whataburger and Braum's borders on absurdity. MOB is similar to Tucker's but better in every way. It absolutely annihilates S&B and the Garage in flavor. The only possible downside is if you want a tame burger, then sure this isn't the place for you. But if you are big into flavor, this place will take care of you better than your mama. Now that they have delivery options to my house, I will definitely experiment with the other menu items. Thanks Marco!
