I just bought 4 croissants and one Napoleón .he croissants like always, fresh and delicious, but the Napoleon, at least had 2 days old, saggy and tasteless. I have been going to that bakery for more than 15 years and the Napoleons always fresh and crunchy and delicious. Very sorry to see they are selling now old pastas. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Go to Wegmans!!! Like many other reviews, our strawberry shortcake had MOLD and tasted like alcohol from said mold fermenting in the cake. My mother had picked up this cake for my birthday and the entire party was extremely disappointed. To charge that much money for a "bakery" cake for a special day and it be MOLDY is pure robbery. Not a single part of that cake was good to eat. Genuinely surprised none of us or our kids got sick from this cake. God I hope they go out of business. read more

I love this place. It is an actual French Bakery. They have a wonderful selection and great prices. The owner, Jean-Pierre Bournazel teaches a baking class on the first Sunday of each month, excluding August, (he deserves a vacation too). My friend, Maria from Pottstown and I from Reading, have been attending for close to 2 years. It is very informative as well as a great time for all. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. I take the baking classes here every month and it is fabulous. No matter what is on the menu, and it's always something delicious, my friend and I have a great time and lots of goodies to take home and share. And if I need to pick something up that was not on the menu, I can get that as well. Jean-Pierre is a great teacher and I have been able to recreate several items at home and he is available to clarify when I've had questions. I have bought croissants from the Strawberry Bakery many times and have loved them. This Friday 2/7/25 I ordered a dozen mini croissants for my family that was coming from out of town. When I got home I noticed they were very well done (brown/black on the bottom). I was disappointed because when I tasted one it was very hard and crunchy not like the ones I've ordered in the past. So I decided to return them in hopes to get more for my guests. When I returned with the box the Baker - Owner of Strawberry Bakery was very rude to me. Told me I should buy my next ones at Giant! Told me to stop talking! Never apologized but instead was very disrespectful towards me. I would not recommend supporting this man. read more

The strawberry shortcake was awful. I had it years ago when I was in charge of brining the cake to an event. I was so embarrassed as most people took one bite and threw the rest in the trash. I recently decided to give them another chance but nothing has changed. The cake is dry and crumbly and the icing is tasteless. Definitely would not recommend. read more

I would agree this bakery is more than typical ones and I enjoyed their pastries which my team got few times at work. However, I would guess, with cakes, they seem to be selling left-over frozen cakes thawed for the day of pickup. The strawberry short cake I got today still had its frosting hard and still being thawed and the bread was VERY dry. I'm sure it was better when it was fresh. I guess I just wasn't lucky. read more

Stopped by here after having lunch because I heard their stuff was good. I ended up getting this little cake like thing, I'm sorry! I forget the name of it but I posted a picture. It looks like a dome of chocolate with almonds on top. It was alright tasting.. I thought the inside was going to be more cake like and soft but it wasn't. After taking another look around the store, I noticed the front wall on the left (if you are facing the door) had a shelf full of items made from chocolate. The chocolate heel caught my eye because my friend really like heels. Got her a dark chocolate one & ended up having a funny conversation with the chasier about "old people likes dark chocolate" this is a quote from my little cousin because I now like dark chocolate. We actually signed up for a baking class where the head pastry chef held a private class ($45 per person - minimum 6 people) teaching us how to make various items including croissants, cupcakes, macarons, bread, etc. The class was AWESOME. Jean Pierre was very entertaining, and we got to take home all of the baked goods that we made, which was a TON. i have been wanting to try this bakery for years. I ordered a strawberry shortcake. After looking at some of the reviews about freshness I asked the girl if it was just made and she assured me it was. We took it to a friends house for dinner. When we opened the box it looked more like a birthday cake. I cannot tell you how stale it was. Totally embarrassed that we brought this to the dinner. This is my favorite bakery in the area! Every time I come here, I get fresh croissants and doughnuts. Seriously, these are hands down the best croissants you will ever have! They have a range of flavors including chocolate, apricot, and berry, but my favorites are the plain and almond. The croissants have a very light glaze that adds just the perfect touch of sweetness, and it's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The doughnuts are awesome as well, they only have two kinds, plain with vanilla frosting or chocolate frosting. These doughnuts are huge and just so perfectly made! They are a bit dense but fluffy at the same time and the frosting is perfect. I love love love this place and go whenever I get the chance. Do note that the croissants and doughnuts go fast, so you'll need to go early to see the full selection! read more

All I wanted for my Birthday was a Strawberry Shortcake, my daughters made this happen for me. I was very disappointed. I have never in my life seen a strawberry shortcake look like this before. Its presentation looked like a birthday cake with a fondant coating, there were no strawberries on or around the outside. The inside presentation was not any better. This "cake" maybe had four strawberries cut up on the bottom small layer, the "cake" was dry; no sponginess. The "icing" was hard, no creaminess at all. This "cake" did not taste good at all, no flavor, almost seemed like it had been frozen. We went and brought strawberries to try and salvage/doctor it up. Again, very, very disappointed! read more

I am so happy that this top flight French pastry bakery is not showing up on BS lists like "Best of the Main Line" for it is difficult enough now to get all the desired baked goods without them already being out of stock. When wanting to impress clients for meeting at the Great Valley Corporate Center, it was far too common to have people coming in at 7 am and buying out half the store. Work reviews ranged from "how have I never heard of this place!" to "you're bringing more tomorrow, right?" and "you've set a precedence - you have to bring these in every time you come to town now!!" Rave reviews from the entire office! The pastries looked and smelled amazing - I only wish I could have tried them myself! But alas, with my gluten allergy, that was as much as I was able to enjoy. Great ooogly moogly! My friend who works at Strawberry, brought over a Flourless chocolate cake with layers of ganache for my birthday. The solid oak table, that he placed it on groaned as the table legs buckled. I've stated that I'm not a huge sweet and cake fan, but this creation made me a convert. Technically I'd put that cake in the category of candybar. Eating it, there was a fine line between wanting more and wanting to curl up under the table. It was Bill gates rich. Specifically searching for macarons in the area, I found Strawberry Bakery on Yelp. Nice little bakery, where I grabbed a vanilla cake of some sort and 2 chocolate macarons. Upset that they only had chocolate available, but perhaps it being Valentine's day was the cause for that. However, BECAUSE it was Valentine's day, the macarons were on sale for $1. Cheapest I've paid AND biggest I've had! They were huge! Definitely worth coming back to try other flavors, assuming they will be available next time. read more

Strawberry Bakery is the real deal. Just walking through the door makes you want to say "Bonjour!" in a sing-songy French accent. Say hi to Jean Pierre the owner if you see him - he's likely working on something in the back. Everything is very French and very good. Baked goods and chocolates both show fantastic technique, but more importantly, taste great. This place is more of a bakery than a cafe. They'll sell you a delicious espresso to complement your ethereal almond croissant, but you're not likely to want to sit around and drink it. This is much more of a "to go" place. That said, showing up a with a box of plain, almond, raspberry, and chocolate croissants from Strawberry Bakery is not only $20 well spent, but likely to get you into anyone's good graces. An affordable luxury, especially considering the Main Line. Makes a great post-Classic Diner stop if you somehow have enough room left after breakfast for a pastry or some chocolate truffles. Francophiles rejoice! Strawberry Bakery is here to take you back to those memories of that magical little cafe just down that narrow alley in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.
