I first learned of Sophisticakes in March when I attended my friends 60th birthday Brunch. I love to see a BEAUTIFUL cake but I thought, how does it taste?! It was their signature vanilla pound cake and extraordinary Buttercream icing. My greatness!! It was absolutely amazing. And when I learned the bakery was less than 5 miles away in Drexel Hill, that was the cherry on top! The initial cake design was a little out of my budget so the designer worked with me to select another design within my budget. It was exactly as pictured. I had to call and leave a message with details about what I wanted to order. I received a call back within 24 hours. The cake was a two tiered pound cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Although the cake was not for any special occasion, the cake was decorated with a simple design. The hours are a little tricky especially if you need a cake during the week. This pound cake was 2 layers with a rich buttercream icing. Simple yet tasteful decorations were a nice touch considering it wasn't for any special occasion. Ordering and pick up were a bit tricky in terms of getting a hold of someone. I had to call and leave a message and wait for someone to call back to place the order. Really great bakery with some talented artists who can make any vision come to life. I've used sophisticakes for a casino themed birthday cake and Tiffany & Co. themed cupcakes for a Babyshower. Their pound cake is always a go to. It's a little hard to get into contact with them via phone since they're really popular, but they are pretty responsive to emails and will call you back when you leave a voicemail. The shop is easy to get to and there's ample parking in the little shopping plaza. The service is great, and they even help you walk your order to your car if needed. My friend lives the chocolate chip pound cake. So far that's the only thing that's worth buying. I don't like leaving bad reviews because I'm a chef and i am in the restaurant industry. But for how expensive these cupcakes were they are dry and just fall apart, the flavor is just okay, extremely bland. It was so good I said I'm going to buy me a cheesecake during the week. Fast forward I came. The cause of me wanting to find more so I came here myself to see if I could get some. Didn't get what I came for but I did buy two slices of individual cheesecake that are $4.99 a slice but they're thick so don't worry about the price. A whole cheesecake is $21 I believe, don't remember the size of the whole cake though. The things they sell range from cakes, pies, cookies, to chocolate covered pretzels.
