Asiago pepperoni and salami loaf
Marlene F.

I've driven by so many times and went in today to discover they have some pretty awesome treats. The Asiago pepperoni and salami loaf is sooooooo good. I also found a red velvet donut that was delish and a chocolate chocolate cupcake that was very good. I'll be a regular for sure!

You know a bakery has been around for a very long time when you see a sticker that announces "MAC accepted for purchases". MAC is a uniquely Philadelphia phenomenon from the earliest days of ATMs. My aunts still say today that they're going to "hit the MAC" instead of "get money from the ATM. Despite spending a decent amount of my life living in the Philly Burbs, I hadn't heard of Jacquette's until a friend mentioned them to me. I was talking about getting some really good hometown donuts, not the kind from a national chain, the kind that are yeasty and sweet and the place smells like heaven. Off I head on a steamy hot Sunday morning. It's a good sign when there's a line, folks. I managed to time my visit well as there were only 3 people ahead of me, by the time I left there were 8 people in line waiting. Despite the line I didn't wait long before a cheery young man, eyes smiling behind his mask, helped me with my selection. Six donuts (one didn't last long enough for the photo to be taken. I am human after all). I wasn't planning on the sticky buns but they looked so darn good I got three of them too. They were all quite good. The donuts had that yeasty sweetness I adore, and those sticky buns were loaded with cinnamon and gooey walnuts. Solid Philly donuts. I'll totally be back.

Purchased a lemon pound cake with lemon buttercream icing for a July 4th birthday celebration. Everyone raved about the cake and wanted the name of the bakery. Highly recommend this establishment.

This is a bakery in a strip mall with plenty of parking in the lot. They have everything from cakes to donuts to many cookie options. There are so few bakeries left anymore. This is what a bakery should be like.

Supposed to be a two tier cake for a bridal shower... paid $75 dollars for this?!! The writing is poor at best

I would give a ZERO stars if I could!! I ordered a two tier wedding shower cake over a week before the shower. I discussed what I wanted with 2 people. I should have gotten the receipt with instructions on it but I was too trusting. $75 dollars

Birthday donuts!

I went to Jacquette's to get donuts for my grandson's birthday. His favorites are chocolate with jimmies. I had gone first to our local bakery, but they didn't have his favorite, so I drove farther out to Jacquette's. There were at least a dozen people waiting outside in line when I got there at 8:15 this morning. It was Dec. 23, which has to be one of their busiest days of the year with people picking up Christmas orders. Sadly, when I finally got inside, their chocolate donuts also didn't have jimmies on top. I asked the young woman who waited on me whether there was any way they could add some to one of the donuts. Without even a hesitation, she took the box into the back and came back with all four covered in red and green jimmies! Awesome customer service! It's no wonder Jaquette's is so popular. Their baked goods are delicious, and their service is stellar!

7/2/20 sigh! Only 364 more days to go til I get another Jacquette's Birthday cake If my friend gifts me a cake.

7/2/20 My friend goes to Jacquette's bakery for special occasion cakes for her family & friends. That's me she's gifted me two Birthday cakes in the past. Both times she opted to get me chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Very Delicious! I would love to try vanilla cake sometime and I hope to try their other offerings. Seeing as I'm not very close- it's probably not going to happen. My most recent cake was moist and delicious. The frosting was decadent and delicious. I love the sweet buttercream icings the best and this cake did not disappoint. There's nothing like a real bakery cake and since I went to a bakery yelp event a couple years back, at Aux Petit Delices, I have a new found appreciation for real bakeries and the art of it all.

Lemon meringue pie I pre-ordered was stale and tasted old. $14.00. This bakery is hit and miss.

Karolyn's Kakes - The most stunning, sexy cake ever!! Exactly what I envisioned! Choc chip buttercream! Sooooo good!!!

I mean, these are incredible works of art! She's so talented! Most recently I attended a bridal shower and I was taken a back by the detail in this lovely three tier, three flavor cake that matched the bride's wedding colors perfectly. The delicate nature of the ombré layers of chiffon ruffles on the bottom tier were absolutely incredible! The all sugar monogram at the top was flawless and the polka dots were perfect, and had edible bold, shimmery glitter! It was an outstanding cake! Most of these fancy decorated cakes I have come to find only look good and lack greatly when it comes to taste. This is not the case with Karolyn's masterpieces. Everyone "oohed" and "ahhed" while they tasted each of the different layers in one cake...chocolate cake with chocolate icing, raspberry vanilla pound, and chocolate chip with buttercream. I tasted the icing on the raspberry slice at it was soooo delish!! Like omg delish. This mama who has had such bad experiences with birthday cakes over years that she swore off these types of places is considering using Karolyn's because of everyone's reaction and how gorgeous this last cake was! I would highly recommend her for your special occasion. Definitely not inexpensive, but a lot of work goes into making one of these beauties and it's sure to be a show stopper and a centerpiece for your party!

Very easy to work with, open minded and open to design ideas you may have for your kake. This kake was made for a going away party to Japan. Let me say, the flavor of the kake was phenomenal. I was seeking a cake not frosted with Buttercream, or not frosted at all, so I thought I'd give this a try. I really wanted the Taro Cake but whimped out when considering the taste of who I'd be sharing it with, but did get to try it. It taste, both in profile & texture, like a sweet potato. Purchased a Vanilla Strawberry Fresh Cream Cake. It was light in texture, not terribly different from Angel Food Cake, but absent of other flavors. Less sweet cakes often have overtones of almond or citrus that shine through, but this tasted like a vanilla cake minus the sugar. When I sliced into it I was hoping for more of a strawberry puree inside, but it appeared to be just sliced strawberries & a whole lot of unsweetened whipped cream. A little 1 dimensional for me. It was packaged beautifully w/ a lady finger & birthday candle. The gentleman working the counter was super helpful & I look forward to trying the Matcha & other flavors in the future. This one was a miss for me. While I barely have a sweet tooth, I need a little more going on than what was presented. That's a preference, not a criticism.

FOOD: The breakfast burrito was not good at all. They put huge chunks of raw onions and green peppers in it. I had to pick them all out. They should cut them small and at minimum sweat them down a little. Those are 2 products that should be used sparingly due to their powerful flavor. It was also supposed to have bacon in it, but there were only a few teeny tiny pieces in it. By "few" I mean like 4 bacon bits in the entire burrito. Based on the size and the taste, I think they actually used a jar of those little red salad dressing isle bacon bits. I have a good palate and struggled to even taste the bacon. I even pulled 1 of the 4 bacon bits out and ate it on its own & it tasted like nothing. Unknown if that was because it was so small or because it wasn't real bacon. SERVICE: They sat me at the bar, but I didn't get a server to come greet me for almost 10 minutes. But I do acknowledge it was very very busy so I wasn't too concerned. ** I probably just ordered the wrong menu item. I do not recommend the cowboy burrito. However 9 of the 10 times I've dined there it was a good experience. The place was packed on a Wednesday morning. So obviously people love this place. ____________________________________________________________________ GOOD: Those little Jewish Apple Cakes were the same as they always were. I still enjoyed that.
