Absolutely the best local bakery and it's not even close. Luckily I live close by but I would drive way out of my way to go here. I love danish and once you have these danish you'll never get store bought ones again. The donuts are incredible, they're known for their cream and jelly donuts but the other ones are really special like the coffee rolls and apple fritters, great sticky buns, etc. all of the breakfast pastries are amazing. I'm usually not a huge fan of cheese danish but the ones here are awesome. They have good fruit flavor variety too like apricot and peach. I've never had an actual cake but I've tried all kinds of dessert pastries like eclairs, brownies, etc and they're the best around. You will get addicted to this place. There's a reason there's a line out the door but don't let that dissuade you, the line moves fast and they're constantly bringing out fresh stuff from the back kitchen. read more

The WORST experience EVER!!! Went to pick up a custom ordered cake for a Bridal Shower and was appalled when they showed me the cake. First it was not what I ordered, second the writing on the cake looked like a toddler wrote it. Then to add insult to injury the cake had what look like dirt or smudge marks in the center of the cake. The staff was BEYOND rude and unprofessional when questioned about the cake. Said it could be fixed BUT it would cost an additional $200.00, for a MISTAKE THEY MADE. I was embarrassed to even put the cake on the table, but had no choice but to take the cake and try to do damage control and fix it myself to make it look even a little bit presentable. The staff said that I should be more understanding and do better at supporting small business. I would have no problem doing it IF THEY stood behind their work and gave me the cake I ordered and paid for. They give small business a bad name and then try to hide behind it. They bring out the worst in people. With bad business and bad management. DO NOT EVER ORDER A CUSTOM CAKE FROM HERE. I can almost guarantee you will not get what you asked or paid for. read more

I have never been to this bakery but a coworker brought in a strawberry shortcake for a baby shower and it looked so yummy so I couldn't resist. I had a relatively large piece. I typically am not a fan of cakes or sweets but this cake was SO delicious! The cake was moist, the cream was light and airy, and the strawberries were fresh. Since it tasted so light, I didn't have that overstuffed, too much sugar, sickening feeling afterward. Will definitely have to pick up this cake for a future party!... And maybe will try the cheesecake as well. read more

Jacquette's is a wonderful bakery, and their cakes are delicious. People are very nice. My family stops here when we have birthdays to celebrate. During my last stop, I picked up a cake for a colleague and asked for it to say happy birthday Nicole. Usually it's quickly and nicely done. This, however, was sloppy. We're English teachers so we sort of laughed, but I was disappointed. The cake was still excellent, and maybe some won't care. But if you're like me and want it to look nice, maybe think again. Just finished mangling my chocolate-pudding birthday cake from Jacquette's and I am one year older and one cake happier. The cake itself is rich, dense and moist -- virtually black with chocolate -- and not too sweet. The buttery, soft rolls that ensconced my birthday-choice pulled pork were terrific as well. This is squishy, white German type bread, perfect for ham sandwiches, pulled pork and rolling into bread balls when you are six. Excellent customer service! I needed to get a birthday cake for a friend turning 30, and I called a few places that would be able to bake me the perfect red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. I've heard rave reviews about this place, and thank goodness I went with this place! They were even able to put a very cute design in line with our red, white, and black birthday theme! The cake was delicious! Heavenly, really. It was moist, and the icing was not piled on. It was just enough sweetness. When I saw everyone devouring the cake, I knew I chose the right bakery. I got a few things here such as an eclair, donuts, and a key lime pie. The pastries were yummy and I hear the cakes are good too. But the key lime pie was terrible. It was more of a green goopy filling that slid everywhere after the first slice. Like they used jello key lime powder. It was not the ordinary yellowish set filling. It was very strange and gross to eat. I did love their donuts though. They are a heavier substantial donut that doesn't seem like you're eating calories of air in two bites. My granddaughter and I were very excited about going to this place as I had been there many times and always had great service and the pastries are extremely good no matter what you order. The lady at the counter appeared bothered and was very rude. I asked for lemon danish and was abruptly told "we're out". I then asked if they had any plain cinnamon buns and was told "you need to pre order them!!". My granddaughter was visibly upset with this elderly woman and we settled on a few items totaling 28 dollars and left. We were celebrating a birthday and planned to buy a cake as well; however with her attitude continuing we left and bought one elsewhere. Stopped here for the first time ever. We sampled a mini apple pie, an almond crescent, and a cheese Danish. None of these items impressed me. The apple pie was filled with a gooey, commercial filling. The almond crescent tasted almost like solid almond paste. My sweetheart's birthday was saturday and his favorite pie is key lime pie. (Generally, I do not like key lime pie). It was hard to find a bakery that made it, but thankfully I called Jacquettes and they told me that they just made some. The bakery was located in a little shopping center off of Sproul Road so parking wasn't an issue. A man helped me as soon as I walked in....got the key lime pie out from the back and packaged it up. We had it that night. It was wonderful...I even I liked it! Not too sweet and not too tart. The lime was a light green color so it was fresh and it didn't have all of that artificial coloring in it. One of the last true old-school bakeries that the big supermarkets and club stores haven't gobbled up. Step into their storefront and you are instantly transported back to better days when small, family owned bakeries were a frequent stop for most families. There's a reason they've survived...great baked goods that cannot be replicated in mass production. I bring my girls in at least once a month to grab some goodies and show them what a real bakery looks like. They LOVE the doughnuts and danish. I am partial to their sticky buns. We often get cakes here as well for parties and birthdays. Here's a tip - they'll fill their cakes with pudding in the middle layer if you request it! JACQUETTE'S has NEVER let me down and without a doubt they are the very best in the Lower Merion, Broomall, Newtown Sq. area. This time, I gave them a real challenge, a birthday cake for our son 48th birthday, with duplications of 2 volunteer organization patches and also the patch of the Radnor Police Department - all I might add were very detailed in themselves. I gave them 3 pictures of the decals which were different sizes, with many colors and writing on each patch. What they did, blew me out of the water! - it was incredible, not only decoration wise but taste wise too. All the patches were made the same size - which was incredible but were exact matches to the pictures that I had given them down to the last detail. Thank you so much, it was the hit of the party. I (we've) been going to Jacquette's for 30 plus years and I would not consider ever giving my business to another bakery. Moving from Broomall to Glen Mills made no difference as the 20-25 minute drive is beyond worth the mileage. EVERYTHING in this bakery is second to none, and the birthday cakes are one of the true wonders of the birthday cake world. And the best part may be how incredibly friendly and helpful the staff is. We're picking up our wedding cake(s) in a few days, and went we went in to talk about our ideas for the cake(s), the owner, Dennis Jacquette came out and gave us the most unbelievable personal attention and service. He and his staff really took the time to help us bring our ideas to fruition. Can't wait to see them done.
