This adorable bakery is like walking into a sweet Italian grandma's house and being wrapped in a warm carb loaded hug, with copious amounts of quality cream cheese. They also had an assortment or olive oil, honey, maple syrup, vanilla for baking and a cooler section for take home! I got an everything bagel with the chive cream cheese and the taste had me doing a happy dance while simultaneously being in complete shock at the goldmine I had just found. The service was friendly and helpful. The breads and pastries are BEAUTIFUL. I'm so glad I finally stopped and gave this place a shot. Don't let the location fool you, this place is a hidden gem among downingtown area!!

My mom recently moved to the area, and on my most recent visit, we decided to stop by early in the morning on the way home from the dog park. We were craving bagels and warm bread, and wow did this lovely bakery deliver! We arrived in time to grab some bagels (a few everything and sesame, they also offered a few other flavors), a loaf of rustic bread, and the croissant of the day (sausage and cheese, with a coating of yummy seasonings). We were tempted by the other baked items, but it was so hard to narrow down the options! They also supply homemade cream cheese in various flavors, as well as butter, yogurt, eggs, and specialty kitchen items. The place itself is small but welcoming, and the staff were super friendly! The bagels and croissant were SO good, I can't overstate how delicious and perfectly dense/fluffy the bagels are, especially when warmed and toasted. The bread is sourdough and is beautifully baked. What a treat! Can't wait to return on my next visit!

Best bread I've ever eaten!! I chose the seeded ancient grains. Seriously delicious. My husband who is a white bread guy loved it too. Crunchy crust, chewy middle. Made the best sandwiches! Can't wait to try something else. Everything looked so good. So many beautiful treats.

I just picked up my online order from Brandywine Valley Bread and immediately devoured the morning bun with my daughter so sorry, no pictures of that. I ordered soon after 8am. I was disappointed that the strawberry cream cheese was already sold out but I was able to order a seeded baguette, morning bun, and a dozen bagels - poppyseed, everything, Asiago and cinnamon raisin. The bread smelled so good in my car ride home. I wish my car would smell like that forever! The bagels are so light and fluffy as was the morning bun. The baguette looks delicious and I can't wait to have it with dinner tonight. The pickup process was a breeze - order and pay online, wait for the email saying your order is ready, drive up and find your bag on the table outside. It's that easy! Thanks for the goodies BVB!

Best bread in North America! Ancient grains rock! Bagels are NY style. Scones are delicious and last 2-3 days.

Gotta say, I've had wildly mixed experiences with BoB over the years. From snotty counter help to…read morecakes not designed as discussed. This last experience, well, it takes the cake. I was gifted a birthday cake and the first piece ticked a lot of positive boxes, but left something in my mouth. Literally. It was almost the consistency of shredded coconut and I dismissed it as such because I didn't order the cake so wasn't sure what the person who had ordered it had asked for. The second piece, same thing - only this time I noticed I couldn't really bite through whatever the mystery shavings were. I've been baking for over 40 years and as I considered what "whatever" it was could've been, it wasn't the right consistency for coconut. I managed to pull a bit of it off my tongue and the only thing I could liken it to in my years of baking was when I accidentally shredded part of a rubber spatula and it ended up in the cake. I was able to track it down to the frosting. Specifically the blue. I scraped all the blue frosting off and tried a small piece and no more mystery matter. I plopped all the blue frosting that was left, which was mostly a set of frosting balloons, in the sink drain. I first ran hot water over it and this was what was left. The attached image shows what is left - after having used the sink for FOUR DAYS. It still hasn't broken down. If it were butter and powdered sugar it would've been gone long ago. I don't know what that was/is, but I don't see myself eating another one of their cakes anytime soon.

Maybe I'm out of step with costs these days, but $63 for a 1/4 sheet cake seems to be a bit excessive ! The person we ordered from wasn't exactly a bundle of joy either ! We will certainly evaluate whether or not we will purchase here again

Totally forgot how amazing their lattes are. About to get my second for the morning. Not sure if it's spring break around here or not, but there are a lot of families with small kids around, so bring some headphones if you come here to work. The latte's worth it, though.

It is also much larger inside than you would think until you are in the space. There is a ton is space and a ton of seating dotted around the raw wood and metal interior and it feels very inviting to sit and spend time, enjoy pastries with friends, or even sit and get some work done, as it is not loud, but a very nice version of quiet. Never getting too loud even when the crowd picks up a bit or lots of orders are popping. The coffee was delicious. Made perfectly and just how it should be. Espresso drinks too the list for me, but there were so many different choices, and they all looked outstanding. However, where The Farmhouse really shines is in the crazy good pastries. They are so light and fluffy, so perfectly flavorful. The fruit tart was possibly one of the best baked goods I've had in many years. The effort that is put into producing their treats is definitely felt, and I am not sure if they make everything in house, but it certainly feels like it. There are many places that have great pastries, but not many get the European-style light and airy style just right with a bazillion layers. This place is at the pinnacle of that baking game. If you are in the area in the first half of the day, you value a good pasty, good coffee, nice people and a nice space, you should definitely make you're way to the Farmhouse. If you are nearby it's definitely worth a trip and if I lived closer, I could easily see this being my daily go-to. You will not find a fruit tart this good very often, so don't pass by and get there now and enjoy!
