I was about 45 minutes early and 4th in line. And by the time the place opened, there were at least 20 people behind me. This was on a relatively cold day at around 30 degrees or colder even and I had double layers coat, pants, socks, and still felt slightly cold waiting. Coffee is alright but certainly nothing to complain about since it's free.

It probably didn't hurt that it had snowed overnight (the first snow of the season) - it was the perfect place to spend a snowy morning, looking out the front windows from our table. It's traditional and charming and so French. They have a great selection of pastries, mostly classic French pastries. We had a few (I had a slice of Quiche Lorraine, which was perfect), and they were all great. We also had a couple of cappuccinos. The service was friendly and fast despite being pretty busy. I waited a bit in line because the customer in front of me was taking a while with a flying solo barista. Another barista noticed, and stepped in on the second register. Order was placed and everything came out within minutes. This turnaround is what I expect for a very uninvolved order. Get me out the door!!! They added a few sitting tables in addition to the awkwardly installed fixed bar stools around the perimeter bar. I wish they'd get rid of those. They're proportioned for people with the anatomy akin to NBA basketball players. As I was heading out, the parking lot was totally full and another car was circling about for a spot. The bagels themselves were fine, and not offensive by any means. I'd eat them again. I don't think they're out of this local Western Philly burbs' world special though... My taste buds didn't see the fuss and expectations set for this place by the business, and if this is how NYC bagels taste, I'd go to NYC now. Get it? Tasted like more like a different kind of NYS (state)...Wegmans bagels on their best days. Never the less, it's GOOD to have a bakery that focuses on bagels in PXV's rotation, versus having to head to Chesterbrook or the Main Line for a bagel. Sometimes they're the right level of chewy, other times they are rock hard, even when getting them at 9am. I recently sent my husband for a dozen bagels and several of them were so dense and hard that I had to really push to slice them, and it felt like work to chew and swallow them. And the flavor wasn't as good this time as last time. I had a banana walnut last time that was super delicious but this time it was too dense and pretty bland. If their bagels were a little less dense and more consistent in flavor, this would probably be my favorite spot, but alas, I cannot say that it is.
