Went and had high expectations from the reviews. Highly disappointed. The biscuit was raw inside. I ordered a latte and all I could taste was the vanilla and milk. My kids also got the regular cinnamon roll, they reheated it but you can taste and smell that it has been seating for days. Their food is definitely over priced and doesn't match the quality they sell. They definitely resell their shelf items after they have been sitting for days.

Stopped by this bakery around 10:30 AM, craving a good guava pastry. When we walked in, the pastry display was a bit limited, but it looked like they were just getting started for the day -- and the smell of lunch being prepared in the back was incredible! I asked the young lady behind the counter if they had any more pastries coming out, and she kindly went to the back and brought me a guava pastry. It did not disappoint -- warm, flaky, and rich with buttery flavor. If you're on the hunt for a pastry with that perfect golden crust and melt-in-your-mouth texture, this place is definitely worth a visit.

What a little hidden gem...I stopped by on a whim and got a coffee and a danish...Both were quite good...And the prices are very fair...It was only $3 and change for a large coffee and a Danish! Worker was very friendly too...They had all kinds of tasty looking baked goods..Sorry didn't get a pic of them.

When you walk into…read moreSweetie's, it's like stepping into one of their gorgeous confections-everything's sugarplums and whipped cream... frosting and frothing... with sprinkles and sunshine. It's a pink parfait of a place-that's total yum for the eyes. My stomach wanted in on the action, too... so I sauntered up to the cupcake case. Soooo many choices-all of them beautiful. I was so overwhelmed-clearly on a sugar high without yet taking a bite-and quickly chose the cherry chip, banana and cookies and cream to take home. I promised myself I wouldn't devour all three at once and so far I've made it (and I've been home a whole five minutes!!!) I can excitedly report, the cherry chip is divine-a nice balance of flavors... not too sweet. I'll report back on the others later (or perhaps sooner). The little jewel box that is Sweetie's is in the Plaza Bella shopping center, at Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals... and it shares a big parking lot with Naga Tea, the Green Boutique and The Shrimp Boat. Swing by and see them. Say hi-I'll probably be heading in or out when you're there-I'm planning on becoming a regular.

Great way to celebrate a weeklong birthday by partaking in this succulent cake. I am not usually a dessert (cake) eater, but this cake was sooooo delicious! Hat's off to this bakery. Though we are not from the area, I certainly can recommend this bakery based on our satisfaction with the chocolate cake we ordered! YUM!!!

Bakery 1908 - Sweet buns heaven!

My husband and I absolutely loved Bakery 1908! It's such a fun experience from the minute you walk…read morein. You grab a tray and a pair of tongs and make your way through the bakery, with separate glass display cases for the sweet and savory pastries. You just pick whatever looks good -- which is dangerous because everything looks good! First of all, the prices are fantastic. Most of the buns are under $4. My absolute favorite was the ham and cheese bun. The bun is slightly sweet and the ham and cheese are savory, and the combination is SO good. The blueberry bun was another favorite -- it almost had a blueberry cheesecake flavor. We also tried the curry bun, which was delicious. We ordered several of the hot items too. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were outstanding. They have a delicate steamed wrapper filled with plump, juicy shrimp, and these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I've eaten in multiple restaurants in Chinatown in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, so that's saying a lot! The Shanghai dumplings, which are little soup dumplings filled with meat and broth, were also delicious. We also tried the steamed pork ribs. The flavor was very good, but steamed pork has a different appearance and there were some fatty pieces. I'm glad we tried them, but they're probably the one thing I wouldn't order again. Another huge plus was the pricing on the hot food -- every hot entrée we looked at was under $10. Between the two of us, we ordered seven different things, couldn't even finish everything, and our entire check was only $46. Great quality, great variety, and an incredible value. I will definitely be back. I was going to say I wish there were one closer to us...but maybe it's a good thing there isn't, because I would probably eat those ham and cheese buns every day! Five stars!

Extremely disappointing customer service, especially from the manager…read more I placed an order for two milk tea drinks at 1:24 PM. While waiting, I watched another customer receive her drinks even though I was already ahead of her by approximately four customers in line. At 1:32 PM, I approached the gentleman at the counter to ask about my order. He did not greet me or acknowledge me. He looked at my receipt, looked at his watch, and dismissively said, "It's not even 10 minutes." He then asked me, "What do you want to do?" When I asked what he meant, he told me I could either wait or get my money back. He checked in the back and came back telling me it would be another five minutes. I agreed to wait. Five minutes later, instead of simply addressing the delay or apologizing, he told me I could grab a bun while I waited. I explained that I already had a bun and that, considering the inconvenience and the way the situation was handled, I felt a discount would have been an appropriate gesture. Instead, he offered to refund my money and gave me another receipt without the drinks. The most disappointing part was Norman, the manager. At no point did he apologize, acknowledge the inconvenience, or make any genuine effort to resolve the situation professionally. As a manager, I expected him to step in, listen to the customer, and demonstrate some level of courtesy and accountability. Instead, his attitude left me with the very clear impression that he simply did not care whether he had my business or not. I completely understand that a bakery can get busy and that orders can sometimes take longer than expected. The issue wasn't simply the wait--it was the attitude and the complete lack of customer service. A simple apology and a professional response could have completely changed the experience. Unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed and unappreciated as a customer. Management should understand that customers remember how they are treated, especially when something goes wrong. I will not be returning, and I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and address how customers are being treated by management.
