Great to have a new pizza place nearby! My family usually only has a handful of choices, so we were happy to see an unfamiliar pizza place. We decided to have Straw Hat for dinner on a Friday night. One thing that was a disappointing was that they didn't have an Online Ordering system on their website. It says it's they don't have that as an option yet. So I went to Yelp to order through GrubHub. When I first looked at the menu, the first thing I saw were the Garlic Parmesan Twists, which I'm guessing is similar to the ones at Round Table. When looking to order pizzas, it was a little confusing. They had specialty pizzas where there were already toppings on it and then they had cheese pizzas and 1-topping pizzas. There was no option to add more toppings. And even if you chose the 1-topping option, it doesn't have options to let you choose. So because of this, I had to call in the order. I ordered a large pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms, an individual cheese pizza, and a 12ct of the garlic parmesan twists. The guy who took my order said it would be done in 15 minutes! I thought that was pretty quick for what I ordered, but it's way quicker than waiting 30-45min for Round Table. When I arrived, there was a line of people inside at the register: ordering and pick ups. There were social distancing markers on the ground, but it made us slightly nervous that there was already 10 of us inside as customers in the store and I didn't see a sign for maximum capacity. Another thing was that the cashier offers paper plates, but they're not in a box or a plastic bag to protect it from coughing or sneezing. It's just sitting on the counter out in the open. Our pizzas were pretty good. I feel like the pizzas needed more cheese. The amount toppings were perfect. It was a on the smaller size for a Large ($26). And the garlic parmesan twists need some improvement. It was a little bland. It just tasted like bread, butter, and garlic. It needs more seasoning and definitely more parmesan. You can't even taste the parmesan. Our total was about $41, which isn't bad. We'll probably come back to try a specialty pizza and maybe their pasta too. read more

It's been a while since I've ordered from a pizza restaurant other than Dominos, Papa John's, etc so I was interested in checking out some local joints and support local businesses during this pandemic. I did some Yelp research and picked Straw Hat Pizza due to not wanting to have to venture out too far to pick up pizza for movie night. This place only had 20 reviews so I was a bit skeptical and went to order anyways via Yelp. I got the Works pizza, size small. The pickup process was a bit confusing since I went in the entrance and there was nobody at the direct front desk. I waited around for about 3 minutes until someone told me to go toward the back of the restaurant where there was a cashier desk discreetly tucked away front the front facing entrance. The pizza was very fresh and the dough was perfectly chewy and thin crust was crispy. Perfect amount of toppings, and veggies were fresh too. I love my combo pizzas (no olives). The price for a small ($18+ after tax) was kind of what made me think twice about ordering from here again. Pizza prices are definitely high in the area and other chains do offer more discounts and coupons. It will be a while before I decide to come back. read more

Best pizza place in Milpitas so far. My gf and I don't look for somewhere else when it comes to pizza ever since we found this place. We occasionally pick up Long Island from Collosseum New York pizza(because it's undeniably good too) but mostly stick to this place. Pizza is not greasy at all and ingredients are fresh. They are not cheap on toppings either. There is also a cool sport bar, so it's a fun place to stop by with friends as well. read more

It is not often you find a Straw Hat pizza nowadays so we were so happy to find one on yelp when we were in the area. And lucky us, this one is brand new and sparkling clean! We called in our order and got a very funny man on the phone, he took our order and cracked jokes in the process. When we arrived, there was a full dine-in restaurant and on the right side is the pickup for takeaway orders. Our food and extras were packed and ready to go upon our arrival. Orlando and his crew came through clutch so I can enjoy the Warrior/Celtics game and not have to deal with stomach issues. I had ordered a gluten free vegan pizza over the phone. What I got was a dairy cheese gf pizza. I can tell immediately there was dairy cuz my tongue was beginning to feel itchy from trying a little piece. They were responsive and gave absolutely no hassle when it came to fixing my order. They even gave a complimentary item on the house for driving back to the restaurant from home. Quite a pleasant visit. You can either pick seating next to the bar or be away and be more private on the back side. Where ever you sit, theres big tv next to you. Called in for pick up, and Fred answered the phone, he is hillarious!! We got to talking and he has a really cool story of where he came from and how he became a partner! He mentioned he makes the best margaritas (I had no idea they even had drinks) so I ordered two and we got parmasean twists and half margarita and half veggie Tikka and it was soooo good!!! The veggie Tikka side was better than probably all of the Indian pizza places ive tried and the margarita side was so cheesy and saucy and good! The parm twists addicting! First off my co-worker order one Cobb salad along with a pound of french fries price $6.99 enough for two people to share along with one individual 7" pizza size for $8.49 Meat-E-Or which is meat, sausage, ham, ground beef and linguica the best pizza we had a long time. However they do have a very large indoor dining with several plasma screen and sport memorabilia, but for now with COVID-19 its take-out and deliveries only.
