This is not your typical chain pizza joint. First off, it took over an old Chili's building so it is a full restaurant in size, not just a one room pizza joint with bench tables. There are servers here, so you can snag a table and get some service. There is also a full bar here with a bar area/scene aka regulars. They also added a ton of TV's and a splashing of actual sports memorabilia, so definite sports bar vibe. And during a legit Bay Area game day (Warriors or Niners), this place can attract quite the crowds. I was invited to meet up with an old buddy, who now lives in the 408. Football Sunday game day, bar area was packed. The good is TV screens everywhere, so every angle has a nice viewpoint. The bad, is that you are crammed in this space, like elbow to elbow. But for a social sporting gathering, this is all the norm. Bloody Mary ($13/3.5*) Nice size and nice texture with it not being too thick. Their mix is spicy, but in that Tabasco way, versus horseradish way. Very little specs actually in their bloody mix. Nice traditional garnishing of celery and olives. Brews on Tap ($8ish) We were drinking 805s that day. All big-name breweries here, which is not surprising for a chain restaurant. I'm not super picky so I was fine with the selection here. And with this type of food, it was totally on par. Lemon Pepper Wings ($20ish for 12/3.5*) Totally a frozen ready-made product. Again for a chain that is not surprising. A crunchy batter surrounds except they will toss in a sauce or a rub to your specs. Loved the crunch here as I've had this brand of wings before from other chains. Super small wings tho but they are a tender and fatty wing. The lemon pepper spicing on the outside made the wing more salty, than spicy. Didn't love these, but with ample brews during a game, I was fine with them. Small Pizza with 3 toppings ($20/4*) Chose Italian Sausage, Linguisa and Mushroom. They do not skimp on the toppings here, totally loaded. Really makes the pizza flavor explode. Even with their cracker-like texture of a crust, each bite seemed like it was 75% toppings and 25% crust. A little lopsided, but again with a game and beers, ya just can't get too fussy about it. I actually liked their sauce here as it just taste like classic pizza sauce, the kind I grew up with as a surburban American. I also want to point out that their cheese was really unique. It was super soft and creamy, like almost liquid-y when hot, and even as it cooled, it did not turn into a rubbery texture, which is all too common for American pizza places. Never experienced this before, almost like they use a fresher mozzarella here, like the wet ones. But their crust is really weird. Like it was super airy and light. Gave it more of a cracker sensation than a bread sensation. Very little chew, more flaky. Kind of a deal breaker for me if I were just having a pizza experience. Fred is the regional manager here! Beware you will most likely spend a lot on alcohol here. You can split the pizza to try two different kinds, we did the aloha which was good, and the Margherita which was just okay. You absolutely MUST get the Fred-Garita! It's his own twist to the margarita and it's sooo refreshing! It has a little kick with jalapeños but it's not overpowering. Fred was attentive. He's also the vice mayor of Gilroy which is a fun fact! Hahaha. Docking off one star for: he may advertise or offer to give you more "top shelf" alcohol, which is fine, but beware you may be paying upward of $20/shot so make sure to ask/that you're okay with that before you say yes! I found it to be a bit "icky" that he would purposely drive up your tab. Our bill came out to be around ~ $300 for one pizza, some wings, and 3 rounds of alcohol. Seems overpriced for a casual establishment of this kind. I'd rather spend that money had a more high end establishment and get more bang for my buck. I'm also docking off another star because he said he had a special treat for us - a pizookie, which we later saw as a charge on our bill so that was slightly awkward. He gave us a slight discount so we didn't say anything about the pizookie charge but personally, coming from the food service industry myself, if you tell guests it's a treat on you, you shouldn't charge them for it. read more

I'm starting to wonder if any of these 5-star reviewers have any functional tastebuds. I usually don't go out of my way to leave reviews, good or bad, but this was so terrible I felt the need to warn others. This was by far the worst pizza I've ever eaten and that includes those little microwaveable ones from Costco. Even the garlic twist was difficult to get through. The dough was dry and tasteless and I bit into something hard that I still haven't identified what it is yet. I wish the pizza was tasteless; I choked down one piece and had such a horrible aftertaste in my mouth from cheap salty ingredients, I was done. You know that episode of the Office where the crew is disappointed because Michael ordered pizzas from the inferior Alfredo's? Yeah, I'd rather eat the hot circle of garbage from Pizza by Alfredo. Fun place to watch the game and get lively with people who are also loud and passionate. They have actual signed warriors jerseys and other sports memorabilia and it's cool being able to yell at the TV and get into the game with others. The pizzas are good, nothing beats a pizza straight from the oven but I also recommend their burgers. They are larger and more delicious than fast food burgers. I got the Swiss mushroom one recently and it was like a higher end version of the one McDonald's served for a brief period. Okay, I'm a terrible pizza snob. I mean I'll eat any ole' pizza, but I'll complain a lot. I've always held Round Table to be the best pizzas and I've held that view for 30+ years. That said, I was driving by this place a bunch of times and we finally got around to trying it. Round Table has met its match. Great pizza and a GREAT PRICE. Got a pepperoni and linguica pizza and it was delicious. We will be back! My only little complaint is that when you pick up a pizza ordered online, the signs lead you to the front of the store instead of the back where pickup actually is. After several emails & phone calls/messages, I was contacted by a manager who was very apologetic for my experience. He said they would provide my ordered meal to me at no charge, which has now happened. He even personally drove it over to my house, again apologizing for the mix up and assuring me his staff had been addressed to make sure the same situation does not repeat itself. I mean, it's not as thin as NY style pizza but it certainly is thinner than a regular pan style pizza... if that makes any sense at all. The taste? Yummy! Bf and I have had our share with many different styles of pizza and this one was pretty damn good. Buffalo Wings - YAAAAAM, yes not YUM, but YAAAAAAM. Their Buffalo wings were slammin'. I'm writing this review as a result of a New York Style Pizza Challenge at my work. The reviews are based on MY FEELINGS of the pizza and no one else. Since we had some pizza Die-Hards in attendance, we had to split the pizzas up with Cheese and Cheese/Pepperoni, but the ratings are based on the CHEESE pizza only. Even though Straw Hat isn't a NY Style Pizza, we threw it in there as a Wild Card. Looks: 8/10 Price: 7/10 Flavor: 8/10 New Yorkness: 1/10 (I can't with a clear conscience factor this into the rating) Overall "Feel": 8/10 *(Not included in Rating) Pepperoni: 9/10 Total: 31/40 = 78% (C+) Overall, the pizza looked appetizing and the cheese was out of control (in a good way). Obviously, it's not NY Style, but the flavor was there. The sauce was a little on the sweeter side, but some people liked that. We called in an order on a Friday night for a large half meteor, half garlic chicken. There's not an option online to customize for half/half pizzas. The operator seemed frazzled, or they didn't have enough practice with the system. Pickup in 15 minutes. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and the pizza was ready for pickup. They offered ranch too. Cheese and red pepper packets and plates ready to go. We didn't really need disposable plates but used them cause they gave them. Nice if you were picnicking or something. Ranch was very thin, not great ranch. The ingredients individually seemed good, solid quality, but there was just something missing about the taste of the pizzas. The crust is like mountain mikes, except thinner, not really bready. Everything was very dry, there wasn't enough sauce or cheese. There wasn't any grease on the pizza, if that's your preference. Overall we were disappointed by the taste of the pizzas, maybe their other offerings are better? read more

The food was very good. The quality is what I had been waiting for since they moved the old Straw Hat away from Landess Ave. I had ordered the Veggie pizza and a Combination, Wings and Poppers. Everything tasted excellent and the only thing I had a problem with was the AP. Apparently, the AP is through SLICE? They only give you minimal ways to edit your pizza choices and that's a shame. I wanted to try it and now I see why I do not like APs I should have called. The pizza was wrong but I was able to call and speak to the manager and he sent me the correct one. He too explained the AP SLICE allows minimal changing features. I wanted only half the pizza to have an item added and then they sent the pizza with 1/2 only that item I would order from Straw Hat again but I will do so person to person.
