We went to Stowe VT. Last year and stopped at Stowe Maple Products on Waterbury road. This couple produces the best syrup we have ever had. We like the Amber grade. We brought several different types home and Amber won our preference. I just ordered another gallon and it is delicious. They have the best price of any place we went. We started buying maple syrup here on the way home from British Invasion every year around 10 years ago on the way back to Ohio. It was always our last stop on the way out of Stowe. Even after moving across the country to western Colorado in 2021, we still place an order every year online. "Never do a U-Turn on Route 100!" This was the greeting we got as we piled out of my car. Granted, you NEVER should do a UTurn on Route 100... but I saw Maple Products and was ready to stop even though we had passed the drive way a bit. Needless to say, we almost died due to an oncoming texting oblivious f350 barreling towards us. It missed. barely. So, after you carefully pull into this quaint little shop, step inside the barn. You'll find a kindly man bottling Maple Syrup into variously sized official VT Syrup bottles. There is something fun about seeing your bottle getting filled up, and even more fun about picking it up to realize its still burning hot. Then getting another one from the shelf and being on your way. Pick up your obligatory VT Maple Syrup here, its cheaper than the other stores, and the owners will chat away about just about anything if you're so inclined (including the benefits of NOT DOING A UTURN ON RT 100!) read more

After reading several reviews, I called before heading over here. The owner, Robin, was very, very nice. She let us try the different grades/flavors of maple syrup. We all liked the "fancy" or light syrup. I could drink it, it was so good. She told us that we won't find that grade in stores. I ended up buying 18 bottles and 4 packs of maple candy (which Robin said is really, really sweet). Robin packed everything in a flat rate box for me to ship home. I hope it reaches soon!! read more

My brother lives in Stowe: a fair distance from my home in Colorado. We first got acquainted to Steve and Robin visiting in Stowe. Since then we have been ordering their syrup. It's been over 20 years now. We have two teen agers who have been raised on home made pancakes, waffles, and french toast served with Stowe Maple Products syrup. When we go out, our boys will not order pancakes or such because they don't like the stuff restaurants pass off for syrup. We ran out of syrup this morning. It has created a minor crisis in our home. This store sells probably the best maple syrup I've ever had. We went to the store a couple of years back and not a lot has changed. Steve is super friendly and patiently explained the little details about the syrup colors and flavors and also gave everyone a little taste of the products. He was letting in just one group at a time inside the store (covid precautions) , which made us feel very safe. Additionally, the price is unbeatable. What a great experience we had when stopping in Stowe Maple Products. The knowledgeable owner was very helpful, answering our questions about the different games of syrup and offering us free samples to compare. She told the customer ahead of us a bit about the 10,000 trees that she and her husband work, the tubing system they use to harvest, and the vacuums that are needed to keep it flowing. She discussed the impact of the warm temperatures having the sap running much earlier than usual and filling their tanks and truck. She did all of this with patience, even though that visitor had a number of opinions without enough knowledge to back it all up. She discussed the best storage options with us, and made recommendations based specifically on how long a bottle usually lasts for us. To top it all off, once we picked out our bottle of syrup, it was still warm, so we knew it was fresh. We've purchased syrup from a number of places in the VT area, but I think this will be our go to shop going forward. read more

On a weekend trip (DURING MAPLE SEASON) to Vermont my boyfriend and I attempted to purchase syrup here not once, but three times! This place was highly recommend by locals and I didn't want to purchase from a gift shop, but from a real local producer. I understand that the season for maple is short, and the the process is tedious, weather dependent, and determines their income for oh, the next year. I seriously do... However. We passed by on a Saturday (twice) and pulled into the lot, Closed. And to boot they have one of those annoying 'funny' business signs about how they're essentially open whenever they want. Not cute. Especially when their phone rings about 100 times and then goes to an inaudible message. So Sunday, we go down after attempting to decode the terrible voicemail. I see a man who is possibly an owner out back by the wood piles. I politely ask, 'Hi! Are you open at all today?' Looking perturbed and annoyed he says, 'NO, maybe try later though.... You know what actually we're NOT open, the trees are far away and I won't be there.' I replied 'Oh... ok, it's just we also tried yesterday too but there weren't any hours posted.' It would have taken him essentially five minutes to offer us a couple of quarts, we knew what we wanted, but we instead took our business to another local Maple producer who was extremely approachable and inviting, unlike this place. ** reply to robin** I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your reply. I usually would also take pictures with a silly business sign, but it would have just been helpful to hear a message that you were closed on the phone/a real sign as well. Also, the giant ' Maple products sold here!!' Sign should maybe be moved or have a closed sign on it when you are in the throes of high production. I have seen maple production and I completely understand the time dependent nature. I would not have wanted to hurt your process by stopping you. However a simple, but polite response, from your husband (much like the short explanation you wrote) would have possibly made us more sympathetic to the situation. I had to go to Stowe on business my wife asked me to stop by their shop because we were almost out of our syrup from our last trip through. Well, it turns out they were closed. This is a small roadside sugar shack with a selection of excellent maple products, including the requisite homemade liquid gold. They offer a selection of honeys, maple products, including a nice selection of flavored popcorns and candies, including the incomparable Red Kite caramels, which are by far the finest confection I've ever ingested. We came here because the community voted them the best place to buy maple syrup. The owner was a friendly and kind woman who shared information about the different types of syrup and let us taste them all. Our favorite was the dark amber one. We also bought the cookbooks (I never thought about substituting granulated sugar for maple syrup but I will now!) and lots of the maple jams, which were actually made by a local woman. I love the idea of supporting local business, especially those run by women. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and she gave us great recommendations for lunch as well.
