Oh, boy, where do I begin? If I could give this place a negative 1000 stars I would. It's a daunting task to try and summarize the drastic and varying atrocities I have encountered at this wasteland of overpriced chotchkies masquerading as some sort of upscale fine home goods boutique, but if my review can save even one person from wasting their hard earned money here, this review will have been worth it.
Overpriced, over-inflated, and over-bloated: these are the words I would use to describe not only the cheap and tacky items sold at Wildflower's Designs' home goods portions of their store, but to describe their ugly, egotistical personalities, as well. If your livelihood depends upon scamming tourists out of money for merchandise that is quite literally sold at several other vendors for much lower prices, you should damn well make sure you are a pleasant, affable, and charming salesperson. In fact, if it weren't for the horrendously rude and abrasive attitudes of the two men who own this sad side-show stain that ever cropped up in Stowe, I wouldn't nearly be as offended by their garish prices as I am.
You see, the two men who own this shop are snooty, obnoxious, stand-offish, and overall extremely poor salespeople. And I say this as a person who has been coming to this store (ashamedly) for about 10 years, so I am quite familiar with their apathy towards shoppers. The last straw, however, came last year when I witnessed just how rude and truly unprofessional the owners are.
One of my friends was browsing through the typical junk they always have and came over to my sister and I to ask, privately, if we thought she could get a better deal on Amazon (because, surprise, surprise, Amazon did, indeed, carry the same exact item for considerably less). My sister told her to save her money because she could find it elsewhere, and that was the end of that. Well, lo and behold, one of the sneaky owners must have overheard us (or was plain eavesdropping, considering we were discussing this privately in a corner) and started actually mocking us to the customers he was ringing up. (I should also point out that he was very rude to the customers he was talking to moments before they decided to buy something). Unabashedly he mocked what my friend had said word for word in a very whiny, obnoxious voice, and laughed, proceeding to discuss how if she was looking for cheap things, she shouldn't be in his store to begin with because they only carry "quality" goods.
I don't know if I was more angry that he was brazenly tacky enough to discuss this with customers, or if I was embarrassed for the fact that he actually thinks he runs an upscale boutique that sells luxury goods. When I am looking to spend my money on designer, quality goods, I don't go to Wildflowers Designs, I go to Horchow. Unfortunately, I think these poor men are disillusioned into thinking they are the Horchow of Stowe.
Money doesn't buy you class, and, unfortunately, it won't buy you anything that's worth it from here, either. read more
