I rented a moving truck from them that quite literally did not work; it required a jump start every single time, not to mention the water damage inside the truck as well. It certainly was not road safe, nor should anything of value ever have been kept inside it. Their practices were suspicious the entire time: starting the truck for us, dodging our texts and calls when we tried to figure out what was going on, and when we returned the truck and politely complained, the manager threw down his pen, told us to call some random guy that supposedly worked with U-Haul (he dodged us too), ushered us out the door as fast as possible, and said "Have a nice day" with absolute annoyance. Then had the gall to charge me double what I paid for a "mileage fee" -- mind you, they forced me to get the truck 15 miles from where I needed it and only gave me 50 miles before I would have to pay $20/MILE. This scam was not told to me until I was at the establishment, needing a truck. Though it was contractually binding, it is extremely unethical and you're better off doing your business far from here, especially if you need a truck for a week or two of storage like I did. I complained about them to the Better Business Bureau about renting us a faulty truck (for almost $300) and they, I kid you not, lied in both of their responses, trying to make us out to be irresponsible and rude customers. They will scam you out of $500 and treat you like the scum of the earth. I was just a 20-something trying to move apartments, and it turned into a month-long ordeal where I ended up with just a partial refund for the mileage fee that was a scam in the first place. The worst experience I have ever had and absolutely terrible, unethical people running the place.

After 25 years, We got tired of Casella's rising prices and erratic pickups and messages about…read morechanges in a pickup day. That along with the local office no longer allowing you to stop there to discuss and issue (their office doors are now locked) and the fact Casella is now run all of state of Vermont. We contacted Duffys, who is owned and operated in Vermont (!)...got a better rate and moved from every-other-week service we had at Casella's to weekly pickup. We had 92+ gallon containers and now have 62+ gallon containers so effectively we have of the container space to use weekly over our previous Casella service. win-win! The staff and email/rep support at Duffys is excellent. They set up our account with paperless billing, dropped off our new containers a week prior to our first pickup with Duffys so we have plenty of time to use/fill them and their pickup times seem very similar every week. The other best part of this is that Duffys uses a truck that picks up both trash ad recycle at the same time. Both empty containers can be rolled up the driveway together now! No more having to wait for Casella's separate trash and recycle trucks to both come by. In fact during a very recent normal/non-holiday pickup week, we noticed Casella's was a day late picking up our streets recycle. So all of those customers had to wait another day to retrieve their recycle container so they could begin to use it again. We are delighted with Duffys. My neighbor asked me why I switched and once I explained basically what I say here, she made the switch to Duffys the following week! I think there will be others here on my street making the switch to Duffys in time. Casellas is a huge national company spread across the US, while Duffys is a much smaller company locally based who I feel can offer better service, have a rep who is local and who can address issues or a question and you can count on them! If you are considering switching your trash/recycle service or new in the area, please do consider contacting Duffy's before you make your decision.

I won't mention the company I was using before, but the old company was too expensive AND they were disrespectful (knocked over a recycle bin with a garbage truck & left the recycling strewn across the lawn). This prompted me to call around and get quotes. When I called Duffy's, someone answered the phone with a smile (i could practically hear it through the phone!) and chatted through my options. We settled on what turned out to be the perfect number of toters for my 4-unit building. What pushed me to write this review, however, was a conversation I had today. I don't recall her first name, but the woman who talked me through the new food scrap disposal options with the upcoming July 1st law change was so great. She went through all the possibilities (including doing backyard compost, which would result in less business for them) and genuinely wanted to find the best option for my situation. I have been impressed with Duffy's every time I've called...and I'm even more impressed with their price, which was about $40 less expensive than I was paying before with my previous trash disposal company. I highly recommend Duffy's if they operate in your area.

They never showed up. More contacts, no response. They finally showed up to assess the damage, 8 years later and told us the damage was caused by water and they would fix it. In contacting them to find out when they would show up to do the repairs we were told they were swamped and would get to us when they could, They never came back. Then covid hit. I reached out to them again this spring and received no response at all, so I can only assume they will not make the repairs. We assume that the damage was caused from not being sealed properly. 9 years later we ended up with a house that is falling apart along with brand new windows molding and birds making their home in the holes.
