The staff is just like a helicopter parent, and they are extreme rule followers to a fault. Definitely the preferred experience is "Hey you've stayed here before, your site number is X, have a good day!!" But instead it's about a 20 minute check in every time and they really go through all of the rules every time. It's just a long and annoying process when you already know the ropes. It feels similar to a conversation with a police officer too, in the sense that you feel like they are looking for evidence to build some kind of case on you with everything you verbalize. There are two people on golf carts that pretty constantly patrol and drive past your site slowly inspecting your stuff. I very much feel like I'm in a fish bowl every time I stay here. It is not very private haha. But it does have a dump station, water fill up, power to charge my batteries, showers, and laundry. Everything necessary for a van life refresh day before heading off grid again. It's just very annoying that it comes at the cost of feeling like I'm on an overnight elementary school trip with chaperones dictating my every move.

Most of the staff lives onsite, and we got to know lots of other long term campers. It was like living in a very tiny town where you know the names of all the regulars. Pros - Laundry room is very clean and well kept. Both bathhouses have been upgraded and have great water pressure in the showers. Lots of lighting and a long mirror across an entire wall made getting ready in the morning very easy. They have a pool and a putt putt course. Publix grocery store is right there, super convenient for grocery shopping or anything you may have forgotten. Staff is very friendly. Amazon locker at the gas station or having packages delivered to the campground office were great options. We enjoyed specials at the food truck that is in the outdoor seating part of the bar. In the growing season, it's also possible to purchase a box of veggies from the food truck owner if you ask. Cons - spots are small. Even in long term, spots are small and your neighbor's RV behind may literally be a foot or two from the back of your RV. There are not a lot of trees or green space on spots. There's a small dog park, and a little green space alongside the entrance road, but that's it. They say they do not take one night reservations, but there always seemed to be a handful of campers that only stayed one night. Campers coming in late, leaving early, and it's close to a pretty busy road - pretty noisy. We heard from others that monthly is not a thing, but we were able to rent a monthly spot. It may depend on who you talk to in the office when you call. We had to take our bird feeder down, because there is a pretty serious squirrel issue and they chew through wires.

First let me say that if your rig is 36ft or bigger you will have a very nice spot. All paved with the RV site concrete and level. Full hookups right there. NICE!! For the rest of the campground it is not as nice. All of the sites for bigger rigs are easy to navigate, clean and open for satelitte dishes etc. A little high price, but then again, all of the RV campgrounds are getting expensive.

And they use THE RULES as a means to justify their behavior. They will literally yell at you. I have no idea who these people think they are. Don't waste your hard earned money with people like this. Day One: Huge ant infestation. Spent the next several days exterminating. Not fun. Much of the sites are not well kept. Way out of level. I had requested an open sky for my Starlink connection. It seems like they gave me the only spot with tree cover. There are dozens of other vacant spots with an open view. Weird but okay... They will not accept packages. So, don't bother ordering anything unless you can pickup at a nearby locker. My packages got accepted by mistake, and I got scolded when picking them up. This is crazy! One day a distraught camper with tears running down her face approached me while I was outside my rig. Turns out her dog died and she needed help moving the body. Maintenance told her they couldn't help because of THE RULES. I, of course, helped her move the body to her car. Inhumane...

Upon reflection we should have selected a campground close to 495 bc we would have had just as easy access to all parts of Charlotte (via 495) and probably more ambience. Power and water supply were adequate, WiFi was very poor to non existent. The area was clean and concealed from the main road however we did not feel comfortable with the security of the area. (Busy road, Sketchy neighborhood) Every day we heard the train and police and ambulance sirens going by which didn't bother us but some people might not like it. This location was more of a parking LOT than campground (very basic, no ambiance, no picnic table, no fire ring) The gravel lot was also pretty tight and if it had been full, it would have been a real challenge to back in.

Dry leaves not being picked regularly and when it picked, they put the dry leaves IN FRONT OF YOUR LOT FOR OVER A WEEK. the water is really bad worth I have been in many RV parks, so about $70 for bottled water for cooking and drinking. Not enough outdoor lights at night, No customer service after hours. No 20 v for outside. If u r in an open lot be careful there are no dividers to help back in and the owner doesn't send anyone to help back in, which is hard. U likely bump it to OLD WOOD THAT ELECTRIC ATTACH TO IT THAT IS VERY BRAKEBLE, THEY WILL MAKE U PAY FOR IT. it is THE OWNER RESPONSIBILITY TO ADD A DIVDER OR "BE CAREFUL SIGN." Owner LIE to my insurance company and other people, she told them that I run away without paying the damages & that I try not to pay and that she waiting for almost 6 weeks for it but "forget " to tell them she gave me the bill over 3 WEEKS LATER. The bill had an extra hour charge, that fraud, it took me time to try to fix it, she slanders my character. A lawsuit will follow. I had to move 3 days earlier because the lot I move in into by my request, when it's rained it got very heavy mud! I did not know about it and no one from the office told me. I asked for gravel I was denied. I found out from another guest, THAT THE RV WHO PREVIOUSLY STAY IN THIS LOT GOT STUCK IN THE MUD & HAD TO CALL TOW ON the MOVING OUT DATE. When I say the forecast for the 3 days ahead was supposed to rain and I HAD TO MOVE 3 DAYS EARLY I HAD NO CHOICE! if u also had a bad experience please contact me.

After she applied my Passport America discount, my stay was $20 or so. I was pointed to a nearby back-in spot and as this is my very first overnight with the RV, I might have missed a few things. The space was level - no need to break out the leveling cubes. The power post was immediately near and I did not need an extension cord. I did not look for the water or sewer hookups. There was a firepit and a cute swing, neither of which I used tonight. They sell firewood in the office and a bunch of other stuff. There is also a fenced in dog park. They have a wifi, but it didn't reach to my parking spot. The restrooms were clean and there's a picnic area near the pool. Overall, I am very pleased with Iron City and I'm looking forward to a return. [Review 14626 overall, 126 of 2021, number 773 in South Carolina.]
