My father had passed a few days ago and the chair and the wine cooler that were his I was trying to get back to Atlanta would have been ruined had I continued to drive. I happen to run into two 2 employees getting gas at the QT and asked if they had any packing tape to help secure trash bags over my items. They generously hopped into the back of my truck while making sure everything was covered and taped and when I offered to tip them, they said no. If these are the type of people that help out someone in a dire spot that isn't even a client, I can only recommend the lengths they'd go to actual clients. They were a lifesaver.

I advised the representative I spoke to my sister will be paying for the service and she confirmed the reservation. 8am the day of the move the representative calls to say she has to confirm the payment with the card holder I give her my sisters number to confirm keep in mind it's 5am in Los Angeles where she is but none the less she confirms with her and everything's fine. The mover shows up and I greet him and start showing him around he immediately starts telling me that he can't take the tiles I showed him if they are not boxed he doesn't ask if I have boxes he goes straight into we won't move that I say ok I can box them let's go ahead and look at the rest of the items he confirms everything else is ok he calls the office to advise her to charge 4 hours in advance which I thought was odd because I've worked with several moving companies before and I've never seen someone do that so I got on the phone with representative at the office, and it's my opinion that the mover judge me because of the color of my skin I am a younger black woman, and I believe he immediately wanted to charge the card, making the assumption that I wasn't going to pay I told the representative over the phone. Go ahead and charge it. It's fine I don't want any negative energy. I just want to get this all done She then begins to tell me that the card that I'm providing is not acceptable. Keep in mind she called in the morning to confirm with the card holder and now that the movers arrived and saw that it was a young black woman all of a sudden they want to charge the card in advance and then when I said it was OK then they said that they don't want to use the card at all it's very clear to me that this mover came in and took one look at me and made assumptions about who he thought I was. I explained to them that they can go ahead and cancel. God bless them and I closed my door. I am extremely disappointed by what I know was prejudice. It was shameful the way the mover behaved and I would never use nor recommend this company if it was made clear that the card could not be used at the time the service was scheduled then things would be different, but you can't meet someone and then change the terms of the agreement. It's clear that the only thing that changed is the perception they had for me as a client. It's very sad that in this day and age, we still as Black people have to face such prejudice I have been greatly inconvenience, and now I have to find a new company to try to do the move same day, all because of someone else's preconceived notion and outright racism. I sent an email and I called and I was blocked from calling as you can see and other reviews they will respond and try to solve the issue. They are actually avoiding speaking to me at no point did I ever raise my voice or did I speak nasty to the men that were here I actually told them God bless them before they left. This company does not care about the opinions of Black people.

Given my particular situation, she took extra time with me to make sure I understood the procedures for moving out quickly so that I wouldn't be charged extra for moving out on short notice. She was kind and made a very difficult emotional time for my family less difficult. Can't say enough good things about them. The area might be a bit rough, but the climate controlled units I used were clean and well monitored by cameras, locked doors & lots of safety wire around the perimeter. Of those moves across various regions and distances, I have…read morecontracted 7 different moving companies. 485 movers is easily in my top 2 companies which have successfully moved my belongings with zero damage while greatly exceeding my expectations. Oleg and his partner were not only lighting fast while unpacking my fully stuffed POD, but they were also so careful and quiet that my 7 month old daughter didn't even stir from her nap. I am truly blown away by the speed, quality, and courtesy that these movers exhibited (on a Sunday morning no less) and honestly struggle to believe the negative reviews that have been left previously. Obviously, crews and customer experiences may vary but even so, I would happily contract 485 Movers again for my next moves considering the previous experiences I have had with other companies and the outstanding work of Oleg's crew that I had the pleasure of working with. I was told that we could expect our movers between 8 and 8:30 am. Oleg's crew arrived at 8:01 am and worked non-stop until the16 foot POD was empty. This only took 2 hours. I still can't figure out how they managed to accomplish this feat in 2 hours as this has averaged 6 hours in the past. Not a single mark on the walls. Not a single ding in my furniture. The crew also ensured that absolutely everything was located precisely where I wanted it and confirmed everything was properly placed before receiving payment. Really top notch service at a bargain price. As to the reviews which cite potential language barriers as an obstacle in a borderline racist tone: I speak English only. The mover's primary language was clearly not English but this did not present a single barrier or hinder their work in the least. Oleg just asked what/where each room was, then simply brought the labeled furniture/boxes to their respective rooms. I do not see how not speaking fluent and beautiful English would have improved this experience in any way at all. In fact, the worst movers I've had the displeasure of contracting with in the past (Boston Best Rate) spoke lovely English while also stealing about $1000 in personal property. TL;DR: Great and fast crew. 10/10 would hire again without question. Fluent English not required to move things carefully and quickly.
