It took a lot of time to get our items into the truck and was starting to get worried. I will say this, we didn't have damage to our furniture most likely due to Nick wrapping our furniture like a mummy. While loading was slow and concerning, the experience improved greatly with the unload. They arrived to the destination quickly and were unloading, placing the furniture and getting stuff put back together very quickly. The guys are professional, courteous and responsive. AVOID AVOID AVOID! I am jealous of the others who posted good reviews. My experience started out fine, but ended as a nightmare. Moving across town (a 20-25 minute drive) from a 2 br apt to another 2 br apt, I opted for 3 movers at a rate of $159/hr. I was quoted an estimate of 2 hours + their 1 hour travel time, expecting the whole job to take maybe 4 hours, 4.5 hours max. They took 7 hours!! Despite having everything packed up, wrapped up and ready to go, the guy were slow beyond belief. Elevators at both locations. Oh, and did I mention that there was only 1 bed to move? The other bedroom is an office. It was beyond belief. They left their empty water bottles throughout the hallway of my old building (water I provided), and left packing confetti (which I did not provide) strewn through the hallway. I had to clean up after them. Finally, they left some items, and I had to haul them myself. Then, there is the damage to the door at my new place. Not only was paint scrapped off, but the door was gouged in several places. I'm working with the apartment management to determine how this will be fixed. I am reporting my experience to the BBB, the Yelp guarantee, and contesting the overcharge with my credit card company. Please save yourself my terrible experience. read more

Needed to move from one home to another 30 minutes away. Truck was too small for the job and movers had to make two trips adding to the cost. Quote wax for a 5-8 hour job. Actual time on the job was 14 hours, and it still wasn't finished. My move was in town and 4 miles apart between locations, but be it 4 miles or 400, the effort is the same. They showed up on time and after a short tour of the home went straight to work. Each piece of furniture was wrapped in quilts and taped to protect from scratches. After using a different company on Thursday we had run out of room in the truck and we needed to last minute schedule someone for Friday. I requested a quote on Yelp around 5pm and tornado was responsive and scheduled their truck and movers for 9am the next day. The movers Jarrett and DJ were on time and friendly, definitely making the stressful day a little more fun. They even packed a bunch of loose objects for us. DO NOT HIRE. 1. They use shady business practices to get high ratings. I was not allowed to see my final bill until I had posted a positive review on Yelp. Moreover, the movers insisted on reviewing my comments and taking selfies using my phone before I posted. Then, I wasn't allowed to see final charges before they ran my credit card and I didn't get an itemized invoice of the bill until after the movers had processed payment -- and even then I had to call and specifically ask before it was sent. 2. My bill was 5x higher than originally quoted. Yes, it took longer to move than estimated, so I expected some increase from the quote, but I was told there would be free wardrobe boxes in the quote email (they charged $25/per); I was forced to pay location travel even though they said I was local; and I had to pay for the movers' lunch break. When I called customer service they said that lunch was supposed to be off the clock, but aside from that one oral statement, nothing else was done about any of the costs. 3. They were clumsy in moving. Yes, they did bring a ton of Saran Wrap and covered all of the mattresses and couches as others stated, but they banged into the walls, bounced stuff off of the stair railings, and dragged instead of carrying several pieces of furniture across my wood floors leaving gouges. They pushed a bookshelf sitting on top of a screw that then gouged the whole floor. I was told "it'll buff out." Do you know how expensive it is to "buff out" wood floors?! They also didn't hang my clothes nicely in the wardrobe boxes and just threw everything everywhere without any consideration, crushing many of my dress clothes under random heavy objects. They also broke one bookshelf, drawers to a dresser, and lost the protective feet to exercise equipment. More importantly, they broke two expensive computer monitors--they were provided the original factory boxes with factory padding but threw the monitors into the boxes without any of the protective material, so essentially the monitors just rattled around in the boxes the whole time. And in their quest to figure out how much they could cram into the truck, many things were crushed. 4. Some of the movers had bad attitudes. I was told to go buy energy drinks because the soda I offered (for free) wasn't good enough. I kept getting told I had "too much stuff" and many snide remarks were made about my possessions. They played macho man games and dropped/threw/damaged items out of carelessness. They didn't put boxes where they should go even though we carefully labeled and color coded all of them. And they literally left a tornado of trash and missed items in their wake that took weeks to clean after. Not all the movers were bad in the crew, and some took pride in doing a good job. I will not use this mover again. My move was last year, when I booked a monday morning move, but they did not show up. When I called, a staff kept making excuses (they could no longer find my appointment or it was misplaced or tried to blame me, turns out they messed up) and won't let me talk. They offered a laughable amount of refund only from a booking fee but kept forgetting so I had to keep calling them to correct it. Unbelievable. They finally sent someone hours later that day, and granted those guys were great (they did not know that there was a mishandling of the schedule, just called in suddenly). But as I stressed to the office staff, it was a time sensitive move and the damage from the delay was huge. The office staff was chaotic, erratic, and difficult to communicate, and they will not take responsibility for their own mistakes. They were 4 hours late to pick up and brought one extra person. The move out was quick once they got there but the notice was terrible. They kept saying "we'll be the in 30. We'll be there in an hour." Until 4+ hours went by. I was so frustrated because I then couldn't get on the road until rush hour. After that I arrived at my destination 2 hours away and it took them 3 1/2-4 to arrive without any notice. At this point it was well past midnight. I was exhausted, my new neighbors were not happy with the noise. And during the move they ruined my walls cracking them and putting marks everywhere. My couch was also broken in the process.
