This group of people are very unprofessional. They damaged my furniture and they refuse to send me a receipt. And when I called to get a receipt they hung up on me. Bad enough they sold us a used moving box that was already opened. My move was last weekend and they STILL have not sent me a receipt. By law I am owed a receipt for services rendered. My last resort is to file a Complaint with the NC Utilities Commission because they are a foreign company doing business in NC. Wish I could give negative stars. Why are we still waiting for a receipt from a transaction that happened 4 days ago (5/30), there was no delay when they took the cash and they said they would send it by COB on 6/2 (still nothing) We also requested their insurance company information to file a claim but that information has not been provided either. What is the delay? And why are they not forthcoming with the information? read more

Used Hector & Sons Moving company for a quick move from the concord area closer to CLT. I was quoted an estimate as well as what the hourly rate is behind the initial 2 hours. The movers (2 guys and a truck) were 30 minutes late but they kept me updated and informed on their arrival time. I had a 1 bedroom move and it took around 3ish hours mostly because of the drive from one place to another. As far as I can tell nothing was damaged and everything arrived safely in my new place. I recently moved with Hector and Sons and it was the absolute worst experience I've ever had! To summarize from start to finish: 1. Quoted one price (hourly rate and travel fee) in writing via email, and then increased their rates on me. When I asked about the difference, they essentially said it was a business decision; I thought I should have been locked into the first written rate. Regardless, they estimated LOW to get my business, but in reality it took DOUBLE their estimate. They only accept cash as payment, so you can't dispute any charges. This should have been a red flag. 2. The company was extremely unprofessional. During the move, one mover in particular walked into my home (2 bedroom townhouse) and said "oh sh*t, you have a lot of stuff" and then requested that I pack my boxes lighter because "they get tired." They also ran out of shrink wrap for my furniture (even though I paid more for this specificially). 3. They damaged SO MANY pieces of furniture and didn't bring it to my attention, even though several items were blatantly damaged - I'm talking a chunk of wood missing from the front of a dresser, a metal piece inside the dresser snapped in half (no way they could have missed it while reassembling the drawers since they didn't close properly), and lots of nicks and chips throughout. 4. I discovered the damage and shared photos with the company shortly after the move. They insisted that filing an insurance claim wouldn't be a fair payout and promised to make it right. At first, they asked if they could come pick up the furniture to repair it, but I was uncomfortable with that option. Then, they asked to come out to see the damage - reasonable request. They sent one of the movers, who said he "only makes a few dollars per move" and was required to pay for the damage out of his pocket. He asked if he could have a furniture repair company try to fix some of the damage on site as a first step. During this discussion we specifically agreed that he could TRY to have the furniture repaired by a licensed and insured company, but if it wasn't in like-new condition I'd need a replacement or a refund. He agreed. The guy who came to fix the furniture used to work with the mover. He "repaired" the damage as best as he could visually, but mostly used a wood-colored marker to fill in the chips. While some of the items look improved, it's not physically fixed - there are still nicks/chips in the wood and you can see where the damaged sections remain. I shared pictures of the furniture post-repair with Hector and Sons. Since my furniture was still damaged, I requested a refund. They said "accidents happen" and refused to refund my money or replace the items as we previously agreed. Now they won't answer any of my calls. I plan to pursue further action. read more

Absolutely amazing!!! Totally professional! Completely safe! They took care of our moving needs over this past weekend. We searched and searched for movers and the quotes only grew. When we found Hector and Sons we were at our wits end- luckily! They were completely professional and explained quotes and the number of guys they would have to use for our third floor move. They explained how they planned to arrange our items in their truck and estimated the exact time it would take them to move us. They moved everything with care and took special time to make sure we felt comfortable with where they placed the boxes and furniture in our new place. They told jokes, brought their own water, and tools. They literally had not problem braking down our beds, crib, and tables and made sure to secure all the screws and bolts to safely put these items back together. First of all someone promptly answered our phone call to inquire about hiring them, and second of all, the movers were prompt, efficient, reliable and courteous. They took care of everything. Requested a quote through the Yelp app and received a very quick reply. I received my quote, exchanged numbers and literally booked a moving date with ease. I used Hector & Sons a year ago and they were just as nice and quick to respond. Received a call the day before our 8AM scheduled move advising that the truck for our move broke down and was on the side of the road. Not a big deal except for the elevator in my complex was reserved and now we have to reschedule based on elevator and truck availability. We eventually get that squared away and rescheduled for the next day but 3:30pm. Movers arrived on time since we got the elevator a bit sooner than expected and the move went flawless from there. The movers were great, worked around me while I was home working and took maybe 2 hours to move everything. One of the movers complained about not being able to lock the elevator which after calling my complex I found out the building would not do. He complained to me once again after sharing that information and I said sorry this is what it is and we moved on. We got stuck in a lot of traffic since we had to reschedule for much later in the day but they got to the new place, unloaded, paid them and thanked them for their service. They were very careful with our belongings and pretty much the same service we had previously. Besides the reschedule conflict, little venting on the elevator and stupid traffic this was another good experience. Would consider using again. read more

Great moving company! Very professional, planned well, and great people from start through the move. Sent an inquiry and received a quick and informative response for scheduling. The guys were on time within a couple minutes to start the move and quickly got a plan together and started packing their truck. They were on top of everything the whole time and took care of all my furniture by securing with blankets and wrap. Wow, I move a lot interstate, but this time was local. I am used to some decent movers, but this company caught my eye and heart. The packers were able to project calmness during a stressful time.
