I CONTRACTED HANTAVIRUS AND GOT GRAVELY ILL because rodent-droppings, rodent-pee, dead rodents filled my unit. Their failure to control a facility-wide pest outbreak and allowing a colony of rodents to freely roam the rafters constitutes facility-level negligence and unlawful. Management ignored me and NEVER CONTACTED ME. TREATS ME LIKE GARBAGE. 15.5 YEARS OF PAYING OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE OVER $20,000, AND STILL HARASS ME FOR MONEY. VERY ALARMING THAT MANAGEMENT HAS LIES IN ITS COMPUTER ABOUT CONTACTING ME. ALL LIES. MY PHONE REGISTERS ALL CALLS. NO CALLS FROM OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE AT ALL. NONRESPONSIVE TO ALL MY EMAILS. JUST CONSTANT EMAILS THREATENING ME FOR PAYMENT OR LIEN ON ME. NOT ONE TIME HAS MANAGEMENT CALLED TO DISCUSS/APOLOGIZE TO ME FOR ALL MY PROPERTY-LOSS. I HAVE REQUESTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE TO SEND ME THEIR INSURANCE CLAIM FORM. NO RESPONSE. I CERTIFY THAT OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE MANAGEMENT HAS NEVER ENGAGED WITH ME TO FOLLOW UP ON ALL MY PROPERTY-LOSS BUT CONTINUES TO HARASS ME FOR PAYMENTS AND NOW HAS PUT LIEN. BRAZEN MESSAGE TO ME THAT OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE DOES NOT VALUE MY 15.5 YEARS OF LINING THEIR POCKETS. have paid Otay Mesa Storage from 2/19/2011, over $20,000. Now I have NOTHING TO SHOW BECAUSE OF FACILITY-WIDE RODENT-INFESTATION. ALL PROPERTY DESTROYED. Serious facility or policy complaints. * Pests and Property Damage: Some long-term renters have reported severe rodent infestations, including chewed boxes, ruined clothing, and damaged paperwork, alongside slow response times from management regarding property damage claims. * Strict Fees and Policies: Complaints highlight aggressive fee enforcement, such as steep charges ($200+) for leaving trash behind or late departures ($250), combined with restricted access to trash disposal bins. * Steep Ramps and Maintenance: Customers note that older sections of certain local facilities feature rundown infrastructure, steep inclines, and locked waste receptacles. Locked or non-existent trash bins, forcing renters to haul garbage across steep inclines. * Steep Rate Hikes: Sudden and significant monthly rent increases after initial promotional periods or long-term rentals have frustrated departing customers. As I was pulling glass out, it broke everywhere. It was the last thing I needed and I was without anything to pick it up. This sweet girl came over and reassured me nothing was wrong and helped me clean it up. I was truly on the verge of just crying when it happened-I was so tired from the emotional part of removing an 82 year old man from his home, the mental part from the logistics and curation of the move, physically clearing a two story house in a weekend and driving from Vegas to San Diego (0 stars- do not recommend lol). Her kindness and understanding went a long way for me. We finally were able to pull the items out of the unit yesterday. It was a busy day so there were no dollies available. There was this sweet angel again. She went out of her way to bring me one that just became available without me even asking for it. The service she provided feels rare to get these days and it felt important for me to acknowledge her. Thank you for making our tough days a little easier.

We stopped by the A Storage Place's Del Sol location to check out their prices and availability. There is a lot to like about this place. This is in a nice location where the surrounding area is not too crowded or busy. They have daily office hours from 9am-6pm. Gate hours for tenants is from 5am-8pm. They seem to have a lot of security measures - special access to get onto the premises and through any door, as well as surveillance cameras. There are a variety of unit sizes; it is just a matter of finding an available one in the size that you need. They have a number of units that have access from the outside and also some that are completely indoors. Their buildings have AC which is a major plus! Indoor units also have access to carts that may be used to move belongings to and from and elevators for areas with a second floor. They also have music playing quietly throughout which is especially great for the indoor units so that it is not all quiet and eerie. All areas looked to be clean and well maintained. The staff was very nice and helpful. And, prices seemed to be reasonable. The only downfall for us was availability, which is definitely not a negative thing to judge them by. Guessing they really are as good as they appear, so why wouldn't their units be pretty much filled up?
