The good: -The…read moreinitial price I got was pretty good. -They have a phone app that you can use to open and close the gates. -All the staff I dealt with were really nice. The bad: -That pretty good initial price was $84.21. After two months it increased to $157.20! That's a $73 increase, almost doubled my rent. I had a bunch of stuff in there that I didn't have room for, so I was stuck. I had to rearrange my finances and pay it. -It stayed at $157.20 for four months and then I got another notification that my rent would increase to $237.20! That's an $80 increase! That was more than I could pay. That's a $153 increase in less than 6 months. That would have been just under triple my original rent. -When I told this to the woman at the office, as usual, she was super nice and felt bad. She said she had never seen such high or frequent increases. She said she could ask her manager to lower it but was certain he would say no. -I went online and found that I could rent a larger unit, at the same place, for less than half my new rent. So I did. When they called to confirm my order, they told me that what I did was technically against their rules. So, they raised my rent by an insane amount, then, when I do something to save some money, I'm told it's against their rules. -While moving all my stuff from my original unit to the larger unit, while walking back and forth I noticed at least ten or twelve black widow spiders making homes in the doorways of units. That's just in the units I happened to walk by. -I also found that a lot of my own stuff was damaged and pooped on my mice. I found holes where they had chewed through the walls to get in. There's definitely a pest problem. Because of these rent increases, I will never rent at Extra Space Storage again. I will rent at another place that costs more and is farther away before I rent from this place again.

But just a few months in, my husband and I get a called that someone broke into our bottom storage and broke the lock. Stole almost everything which was worth $300-500 worth of camping gear. Ripped our batteries off the front and broke our key slot to the front door and bent the frame of the door in two areas. We can no longer use our key to get in through the door. We have to pay to get it replaced. What makes it worse is after the fact that, that happens the staff has no sympathy or intention of accommodating a solution for their clients. The right thing to do would be lower the rate for a couple of months, give a month or two off of no charge. That never happened. Another issue; Fast forward to now. How does 43 days late total to $600. Complete rip off. Should of been $350 and then maybe late fees I get it maybe $400-450. Ok but $600 and something dollars is disgusting. A storage business should not be allowed to do that. But they have all The excuses in the world why they can change price out of no where and take no accountability in the fact that our property was damaged in their storage! Isn't the whole purpose of storing your possessions away, is to keep it safe and free from harm/damages. But yet they come up with bs, saying we take a risk storing our items and there is nothing they can do. No its not their fault that some thief broke in and took from RVs there but there is plenty they can do to show that they feel for their renters. This location is ghetto and you will be screwed over if a random unfortunate situation is to occur with your belongings. Beware of this location and go to turlock location instead. They have a better reputation and the area looks way more safer and cleaner.

Customer Service needs improvement as well as professionalism…read more The rental fees are outrageous and there are increases every 6 months. Specifically was told by the current manager that everywhere will increase their rates every 6 months but MANY local locations within the same city limits lock you in for a year. Luckily I was able to get MORE space to store my things at half the price than I was paying at MVMS. When I called and spoke to the manager about this increase in the beginning of May, she was very snarky with me and said, "well they will get you in at a good rate and maybe you get locked in for a year, but what happens after the year?" I can see where she would think this because that is how the new "company policy" works at Storage Pro. However, this is not common practice jut because Storage Pro chooses to do business this way. This also wasn't how the location was run before Storage Pro took over. I am POSITIVE that this is why so many units are empty. I have gone every weekend and some days during the week to work on moving out of my units and every time I am there, there's another customer with a uhaul emptying out their unit. I have had the opportunity to speak to a few of them and each person said they were getting out and moving to a new facility due to the increases. In addition to other customers, I had to rent Uhauls from 2 different locations in Turlock. BOTH locations told me when I picked up the trucks that I was NoT the first person to tell them they had to move locations due to the increases in rent at their current location. The management, nor office staff treat their customers the same way as we were treated from the previous management before "Big Business" took it over. I understand that changes will occur and that's expected, but these changes were so over the top. I am happy that I was able to secure spots in a much more friendly and workable environment from 2 different locations in Turlock and will no longer need to rent at Monta Vista Mini Storage. Unfortunately, these were not our only issues with this location. The District Manager also does not return phone calls. I had one message to them through the call center 4 weeks ago when the new issues began. I was told that they would return my call within 48 hours and they did not. 2 days later I had to go into the office to resolve an issue resulting from a mistake the manager made, and asked the manager to please send a message for the DM to call me and he did not again within 48 hours. I again mentioned it to the manager 3 days ago and still have not gotten a call from him. Today I called and was assured that he would call me within ONE HOUR and he has not returned my call. It is very apparent that no one in the management team cares about resolving my concerns. I guess it's time for me to go above the DM, or maybe the BBB? Do better Monta Vista. Your future customers are deserving, just as much as those of us who left. If I could give this review ZERO stars I would.

They always call you with a reminder notice that payment is due so you aren't hit with a late fee. And obtaining a storage is easy as 1-2-3 they get you in and out quickly.
