Horrible, they apparently are a 3rd party pick up location for Budget, no where do they tell you you are required by the owner to purchase their insurance. I go to pick up my truck and the Budget invoice is for $3,000, they added $600 to the rental for their insurance. What a scam, when I get upset the supervisor runs out of her office and threatens to not let me rent from them. She never gave me a change to finish a sentence, she spoke over me, was disgustingly rude. I have to have the truck so I pay the additional $600 go to the truck and it is disgusting. Garbage all in it, can't see out of the windshield, the counter person that was new was truly kind and honestly apologetic. It would be negative stars if it were not for the 2 counter ladies, the new one had amazing customer service the one training her you could tell at one time had great customer service, it was obvious the supervisor had rubbed off on her. The only reason went ahead and paid for the insurance is every other truck rental place was $1500 more for the rental. read more

Got a unit earlier this year. Printer was down in office so no contract to sign. Was told month to month. Raised rates 2 times in 6 months. I notified them I was vacating 8/31. On 8/31 gate code was disabled so I could not check locker to see if empty. Then there was a lock on the unit on 9/2 when I went to retrieve my lock. Now they are threatening a lien if I don't empty the unit that they locked me out of. Oh and the kicker? They forged an agreement to make it look like I signed it. Different name and address than the information sheet i filled out. I wanted to work with them, but they are dishonest and prefer to antagonize people instead of operate with integrity. read more

Total RIP OFF!!! We got the 20 footer and didn't drive more than 30 miles altogether paid 404$!!!!! We had the truck for three days (40$ a day) because our movers rescheduled on us last minute. We never drive the truck out of Modesto. The white lady at the front desk CONNED my husband into purchasing insurance but didn't inform us that it would cost $70 a DAY JUST FOR INSURANCE!!! I don't believe that I have ever had such friendly and exceptional customer service, especially at a self storage!!!! I have over the years rented many self storages and Jeanice went far an beyond in helping to make the appropriate size unit to rent, she also gave me a great rate. I had called several different self storages in Modesto and Pelandale Self Storage was the least expensive by far. The facility is CLEAN and there is ample surveillance as well as security gates. It was also nice to know that they have Ryder moving trucks and vans on site that are available to rent. I decided that I would rent Ryder van from Pelandale Self Storage as well in order to move my larger belongings and again Jeanice was extremely helpful. When I arrived to the facility the van was parked and ready for me to get in and go, the rental process was fast and I was out of the door in no time. I would recommend Pelandale Self Storage 100%. I rented a unit at palendale storage and it was very easy going the staff even gave me tips on how I can save on my rental as a matter fact I saved a lot I got twice as much for less. When I went in to do the paperwork the manager was super nice she really helped me out and even gave me a free cold drink and a new lock. Rented a 26' Budget Truck + a Car Carrier Dolly and the gal there worked hard to ensure that that truck came for my departure date during a time when trucks were very expensive. I learned that she was able to give me $1000 off of what the Budget call centers were able to do and not only that, the truck was brand new, clean and worked really well up mountains and in high winds. The reviews online were less than favorable for these trucks but I had the best experience and I feel very very very thankful to have met the older lady who did everything she could to ensure I had that truck. And I thought about her as I travelled the 2300 miles. I know her boss helped too and I thank you both for your assistance to help make our move perfect! read more

Same problem as others. They store credit card number and charge at their convenience. Had to report to credit card company. Again charged a Full month rent when picked up items on the one day after the 2 month date saying they have to charge for a 3rd month rent but will prorate it??? If I could rate them a zero I would. Thankfully, I was only there a month. Don't like patronizing bad businesses. Anyway, I went in to get my stuff out of storage yesterday, the last day of the month. I went into the office first, to see if there was any paperwork I'd need to sign. The lady then proceeds to tell me that they'd "yellow-locked" my unit due to non payment. What? First of all, my first day in the unit was 4/30, and I'm vacating 5/31. I paid for a month. I was willing to pay the single extra day. But no, I had to pay for an additional month. She then says, "rent was due the 30th and you knew that!" Really? So you yellow lock after one day, and don't attempt to contact me...nothing whatsoever? Well, you shoulda had the first day (4/30) prorated, because I can't do that now. Seriously? Then you need to talk to your associates about proper procedure, because that was never discussed with me. I told them the day I moved in that I would be vacating in one month. Told her several times, and even questioned whether she'd made a note. Apparently not. Also, they have substandard facilities. I mean there is absolutely no place to park a vehicle close to my unit door, because the gate to leave is just past my unit, and the road narrows so only one vehicle can drive through, and all the vehicles they rent are taking what little space there is to park. Cramped spaces, with no place to park near many units. AND, office help that need to know what is important to communicate to patrons. AND, office help that need to follow through on what they say they'll do. AND, office help that don't call to find out about pending payments, they just yellow lock your belongings. Will NEVER return to them for any storage needs in the future. read more

Made a payment once over the phone back in October, I didn't ask them to store the card nor did they ask me if I wanted it to be used for future payments. December comes and my day due is the first , well they processed my payment on my card , which I wasn't aware of and got charged an overdraft fee due to me not being aware of it until I went to pay and the said I payed it. I told the lady take my card off I never authorized them to take my payments out of that card every month. She said she took it off and noted it so it wouldn't happen again. Here comes January and once again they billed my card without my permission!!! Good thing I caught it early. Worst place to have a storage ! read more

I'm giving 2 stars for just the customer service. I rented a moving truck from this place. The ladies were atrocious! They're the kind of breed that sits inside all day, except for their ten cigarette breaks. They probably discuss what pains in the asses their husbands are, or what hair dye best covers the grey or some random bullshit like that. Whatever it is that they discuss, it's important. They were pretty pissed I interrupted the morning coffee pow wow to pick up my truck. Whatevs! I needed to move, and I needed my truck asap. We even tried lightening the mood with some random jokes, um yeah they weren't appreciated. I got my truck, keys, contract and bounced. I was tired of the evil eye, and I knew all three were dying to get back to the pressing issues at hand. Like what has more caffeine for the buck Folgers or Maxwell House??!!? Oh and if you care, their prices were actually the best in my area. So if good customer service doesn't impress you, then go there! read more

Imagine storing ALL your belongs while you take the trip of lifetime for several months. You set up automatic credit card billing and give clear instructions to contact you only by email. Then you come home to find they auctioned everything you own in the world because THEY changed their billing system, THEY hadn't stored your credit card info to put into the new system, they DIDN'T email you as instructed, and they DIDN'T reply when you emailed them. That is what Pelandale Storage did to me. Lawsuit pending. My lifetime possessions are gone forever. They lied to me on multiple occasions, they were negligent and inept, and they are just awful, awful human beings. They deserve negative 5 stars. read more

My encounter withs these two evil toads cannot be put into words! These people gave me a rental space that was already rented to someone else. I gave this place 5 stars because I just moved from Hayward California to Modesto California, and I went to return the budget truck and the budget truck rental place in Fremont California put the wrong miles And truck number on the paper I was given. According to the system I drove 161 miles over the 128 miles included with the truck. Shana who works at Pelandale Self Storage called the other budget truck place and had them fix their own mistake. She spent almost 45 minutes taking care of this for me. And it saved me from having to pay an extra $99 for a mistake made by the other truck rental place. My wife and I really appreciate Shana going out of her way to fix this. Thank you. If we ever rent a truck again we will come to this place. read more

Best Moving experience using their truck rental. Fast pick up and Fast Drop off. They moved other customers around my schedule and upgraded them free of charge to another truck because we needed an extra day to return it. Cheaper than Uhual. I was comparing truck rental companies and happened choose this place. I'm very happy that I did. I called the storage company the day before I rented to change my pick up time. I initially scheduled to pick up the truck at 9:00am. I asked to change the time to 8:00am and the person I spoke with said they would come in early to have my truck ready. Couldn't ask for more than that. When I came it to pick up the truck the process was quick and was on my way in less than 10 minutes. The manager was friendly as well. Once I completed moving, I returned the truck. As I pulled up the manager came out to inspect the truck for damage and milage. I told her I would bring in the dolly I rented but she insisted to take care of it for me. The customer service is great here. It cost me less than $100 to move. Whenever I move, I will rent from this location. I highly recommend this place. read more

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE !!!! Before my father passed he stored all his belongings here. He was in the process of moving to another state, but unfortunately before he found a new home he passed. It took us awhile before we were able to gather together to clean out his unit but I called every month in the meantime to check that the account was paid and even paid it myself before I knew he had the account on auto pay. This is where problem #1 occurred. The manager ( I believe her name was Janis) was extremely rude to me every time I called, and even though I was only calling to check that the account was paid she made sure that I hung up the phone frustrated and upset. Problem #2 when my fathers account ran out of money instead of contacting myself or anyone on the account they charged my account without any notice or permission at a new increased rate. That lit the fire to finally go in clean out the unit. Then problem #3 she would not give us access to the unit!!!!... Even though I was on the account and had paid for the unit!!! She insisted we needed the death cert. even though we were not trying to close the account. My brother was #2 on the account and even with his permission she still would not let us in. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. We called the non-emergency police line and this storage unit is a complete sham. Since it was the weekend we will have to wait until Monday to have this resolved. But I will be sure to keep all you Yelp"ers notified of the outcome! read more

Nice enough people, but rented a truck for a long-distance move and questioned condition of truck in advance (twice). Told truck was thoroughly checked out....NOT. Truck ended up having a major fuel leak problem, trailer strap problems, hence not happy at all. They probably wanted to get rid of this particular truck. Not at all happy our fuel costs were double what they should have been--we could never shut the engine off because it wouldn't restart. Would be wary of renting here again. read more

Jeanice was a joy to work with! Made our moving experience a pleasant one. Had to rent a large truck to move cross country. It was ready to go when promised, ran great, price was fantastic. She went out of her way to make sure that every detail was taken care of and asked questions to be certain that we had everything we needed . If it was possible, I would not give any stars to this place. I rented a storage unit there for a few months due to the fact that I was renting trucks from them a couple of times per month and it was convenient. Everything went smooth until the day I told them that I was moving my stuff out of storage. From that point on, the manager "Janice", tried to make my life miserable. This was in November of 2017. I planned to continue renting trucks from them until Janice just made things impossible. The next time I rented a truck she tried to say that I didn't fill the tank with fuel and she kept nearly all of my deposit ($250). I did get back $1.27. Normally it would cost me about $110 for the entire rental. This must of been her way of getting back at me for moving my storage. I was very upset about this however, I kept it to myself and did not say anything about it to her. The reason being is that Budget Truck Rental has the best rates and I wanted to be able to continue renting the trucks. I did use Penske for a couple of months after that because I was upset about it. In april I decided to start using them again because of the rates. The first time I rented again from her everything went fine. The second time I made the reservation on a Thursday and it was to pick up the truck on Saturday afternoon. When I got there to pick up the truck, Janice told me that she didn't have a truck for me. She said that she tried to call me and had left a message. This was a lie, with cell phones these days there is always something showing a missed call or a message. Anyway, due to that fact that I didn't want to cause any bad blood, I didn't get angry or rude with her. I was very polite and said thank you. It was a real hassle trying to find another truck that day. I was finally able to do it but it cost me twice as much. This now brings us to my last rental which I made the reservation on Thursday 6/7/2018. I reserved a 16 foot truck to pick up on Saturday afternoon 6/9/2018. Janice called me on Friday and told me that she only had a 26 foot truck. I told her that was fine and that I would be there to pick it up. On Saturday I picked up the truck at 4 p.m. and everything was fine. On Sunday I took the truck to the gas station at 12:54 p.m. I filled up the tank with diesel. I made absolute sure that it was to the rim full because of her charging me before. I even decided to take a picture of the fuel tank with the cap off showing it was full just to be safe because Janice is unpredictable. I then took the truck back and turned it in. There was a new girl working and I told her that I filled the tank to the rim full. She took my credit card and cherged me $165.29 for the rental. This was higher than usual but I was ok with it, at least so I thought. The next morning when I looked at my account I noticed that there was another charge from budget for an additional $112.36. I immediately called budget to see what this was. Nobody would answer at the Modesto location. I tried over and over. Finally I got a hold of the customer service dept and they told me that it was a charge to top off the full. $80 in fuel and a $30 charge for them having to fill it. I almost went threw the roof! This woman is a flat out liar! I am trying to get this resolved. I will update this review as soon as I am contacted or my money is credited back to my account. If you use this company, be very cautious. Janice is a very moody person. It must be very difficult for the people who have to work for her. read more
