Not only did U-Haul not have the 15 foot truck. We reserved months ago, but when we came to pick it up this morning, there was a very impolite angry Asian lady who barked at me and was unhelpful in every possible way she could. The other gentleman, maybe his name was Miles was super friendly and helpful And understands customer service. You should fire that mean, old lady and give that other guy a raise. There's no reason for that lady to be so mean. I didn't even complain to her about them not having the truck we reserved. You should also fix that. Don't offer trucks that you can't supply. read more

The U-Haul at this location was not good, to be more specific on why it's cause of the employees. My husband reserved a van on the app/online, and when he got to the location to pick up the vehicle, he checked in via online. When he went inside to talk to an employee, this employee ( white guy with beard, thin, with glasses- didn't get his name) told my husband that because he checked in online, my husband "froze their system". That just sounds ridiculous! If your system froze, that sounds like a U-HAUL PROBLEM! The guy was just standoff-ish in general. THEEEEEN, later when we returned the van, my husband just barely pulled up and was getting ready to get out the car when THAT SAME GUY, just abruptly opened the driver door, startling my husband, thats very rude! read more

I wanted to take a minute to thank Lewis Andrews at the Kansas Ave location for taking time to help me work out the issues that we were encountering with my return. He had a ton of people in line waiting, he had no help but he never rushed me. He was very friendly and professional and he got the issue resolved relatively quickly. Thank you! read more

The incompetence of the company/employees really shows at this location. Had a reservation for a van at 5 am, and the vehicle assigned to us was parallel parked between two other vehicles with no way to get it out. We had to drive to another location to get a different vehicle. Update: we went to a different location. Got a van. It has a hole in the gas tank lmbo. What a joke. There are no words to describe. My frustration right now. Or there are, but none that I can post. read more

I'm so disappointed in my experience with Uhaul, which is unfortunate, as I'd had great experiences until now. I reserved 2 Uboxes a few weeks ago for my upcoming move. Everything seemed fine, I kept getting messages stating everything was set, see you soon etc. This morning at 730am ( what business calls before 9am??) I received a phone call stating that I'd have to go to a different location then what was on my reservation. Ok no big deal. Then I got a call at 11am (reservation was for 12pm) that they had no trailers for my Ubox. Uh..... shouldn't you have known that weeks ago when I made the reservation? Then they called back, stating that they'd found a trailer, but just one. So I have to drive 45 min to pick up the first Ubox, load it, then drive 45 min back to drop it off, then drive 45 min back to the house, load the 2nd Ubox, and drive 45 min back to the Uhaul center. What. I asked to speak to a manager while there. The young lady handling everything said "ok, one moment," Then continued processing my payment, hooked up my trailer and waved me out of the parking lot. This whole situation should have been explained to me when I made the reservation. I would have gone with a different company. Now my very tight moving schedule is delayed and I've had to shift people and plans. I'm very frustrated. Terrible service. I'll be complaining to corporate. read more

These ladies need to be put on masks. They don't have their masks over their noses. I didn't like that the lady just said yeah your truck is over there. She didn't walk me over to check it out or anything. It wasn't a particularly bad experience but they lack a little professionalism in my opinion read more

I would prefer to give zero Stars. I tried to get a hitch installed, called and made an apt 2 weeks ago as they had to order a part. They said they would call 2 days before & did not I called multiple times yesterday they said twice they would return my call but did not. I called the corporate service help & was told they could see my apt but were not sure if the part was in but recommended I go to the apt. I showed up today & was told I don't have an apt bc they do not make them for Saturday's. I explained how & when it was made the staff just looked at me & said "the part is not in, we call you when it is in and no one makes Alta whiteout talking to me." I told her to cancel the order I will not return to this location. I do not recommend even trying to call this location. After what I experienced I would not trust them to touch my car. read more

I had went on Friday, June 4, 2021 bc they never answered their phones to reserve a truck. The woman who helped name Sorrayah set me up to reserve a 15' truck to pick up the next day at 1pm on Saturday. On Friday She gave me a copy of my reservation receipt that stated I would pick up my truck at the same place at 837 Kansas Ave in Modesto. Next day my son and I arrive there at 1 pm. I saw Sorrayah again and to my shocking surprise she told me my truck was not there that I had to go to Patterson to get it! That was not on my receipt and that was to far! I was very disappointed! She was trying to explain what had happened and as I was listening to her another employee by the name of Sandra got into our conversation and started to over talk Soorayah and it became a bit difficult to listen to both of them talk to me at the same time. Sorrayah didn't need Sandra's help in any way. Instead she should had helped the next customer waiting in line! I told Sandra let me just listen to the other person talk to me since she's been working with me since Friday. Sandra didn't really stop over talking. Sandra became rude. She said what I'm telling u she's only going to say the same thing. I asked Sandra let Soorayah talk to me. Sandra was very rude and she suddenly pointed her finger towards the door and shouted that we leave her store in front of other customers for no valid reason! I told her she was very rude and asked if she was the manager and said she wasn't. I asked her for the manager's name and his phone number. She said the name and wouldn't give me the direct store phone number that I would have to call a 800 number. But, I will soon call Gil to let him know that Sandra was rude and is lousy at customer service. Soorayah couldn't help me with any else. As we were leaving I saw another smaller truck come in and I asked Soorayah if I can rent that one. She said no bc it wasn't a local truck! We left very disappointed. My son made calls and he spoke to a very helpful employee name George from the 9th street u haul who said he found a 10' truck that will be ready at 1:45 pm that same day in the local area. Of course I took it and George made the reservation for me. The funny thing we had to return back to the Kansas u haul bc the same truck I asked if I can rent that just came in would be the truck George said I could get! We told George what had happened at the Kansas u haul about Sorrayah about the original reservation mixup they did and that she said I couldn't rent the truck that just came in and mainly about rude Sandra's behavior! He was apologetic for Sandra's unprofessional behavior and gave me the direct phone number to call the managers Gill or Richard at the Kansas u haul which I will soon do! If Sorrayah was more helpful that I really could had rented the second truck and rude bad mouth Sandra stood out of my conversation with Sorrayah to keep Sandra's mouth quiet then maybe this u haul location could be rated better. Giving good professional customer service should be number one. The last laugh I had when I returned back there and it was Sandra that had end up helping me and I had a big smile that I was there to pickup my rental truck. This time she had a different attitude bc she had to give me the truck and she end up being put in check...lol. And a special thank you to George from the 9th street u haul for making it happen and saved the day! And my son shared with me another Yelp complaint about Sandra being rude to a previous customer! Not good! read more

I made a rental reservation online. Arrived at the scheduled pick up time, I went through all of the steps on my mobile device, then was instructed to go inside to pick up the key (by Uhaul's web page). I was then told the vehicle I was to get was already rented out. The manager said my only option was to get a smaller van or nothing. I had no choice, so while going through the details of the new rental agreement, the customer next to me was told there was a larger one available, ( this person did not have a reservation). Not once was that option presented to me. Then I inspected the (9 foot small) van it was filthy inside and out, there were multiple dents and scratches that were not listed on record. I noted these using the web page. I booked it for 4 hours. I returned it in 2 hours. The only reason I opted for this "only" option, was because the manager stated she would give me a lower per milage rate, which did not happen. Upon returning the vehicle, a person went out to check the milage, fuel level, etc. But, as she was headed out a random friend pulled into the parking lot, so she stopped working and shot the breeze with this person for like 10 minutes. As if I wasn't upset already, now I get to wait longer than I needed to. I have used Uhaul for decades, but not any longer. read more

1st time coming here. Just want to try it out. Already read the reviews but everyone has different experiences. So i got here and theres only one worker. I felt like she didn't like her job. There was no smile just a plain face. You can feel the vibe from this person like she saying ( i dont want to work or help you) i didn't say anything because she already looks miserable enough. Me: any trucks available for rent? Worker: no you can try McHenry uhual. Me: can you check if there is any available anywhere else? Worker: i cant log in to other locations systems. So i went to McHenry and they had way better services. Greet you with a smile and friendly. I told them about the kansas situation. They said the worker there didn't follow protocols. She could've looked up whats available anywhere else. I was mad for sure because kansas wasted my time. Even tho i didn't get a rental truck and none was available in modesto at least i got to post this up on yelp and talk my sh**. Lady at kansas is lazy AF. You can at least have better customer service and do your job. Your attitude and vibe is ugly. I didn't even know you and i felt it. Help the business not break it down. read more

I was rented out a truck with less then 6th of a gas tank then when we got to our house to pack the back smelled horribly of illegal substances. When I called to exchange the truck the worker let me know that they knew of the smell and that they cant get me a diffrent truck. We made a reservation for 10 am. We confirmed over the phone 10am. We get here and they didn't have the trailer and said we should have picked it up the night before. First off they never told us this but they said they emailed it after confirming 10 am on the phone. 2nd. We have no place to park it so we would have never agreed to the night before. 3rd they didn't bother to tell us of the local number that would help find a replacement. Instead they said they have to wait for corporate to call. Well I got tired of waiting in my car and called another dealer who simply told me about the local number and in 3 minutes we had another reservation. If you ness up... try and fix it. I wouldn't recommend coming here they were rude and not helpful. We needed a truck to move my daughter and they were out of what she needed which is understandable because she didn't reserve a truck ahead of time. But they didn't offer to check any other locations and gave us the wrong number to call. Long story short we did alot of unnecessary driving when they were able to help us in which they didn't an their customer service sucked. I was told to return the trailer I rented the morning by 8AM Sunday to avoid being charged an additional day even though their hours stated they open at 9AM. Oh and top things off the National U-Haul website wasn't even working when I tried calling the 800 number. What a complete waste! read more

Moving is stressful enough but this location and the one on McHenry did nothing to make it better. We called around to find an available truck and was told there was one available at this Kansas location. The representative took my husbands name and credit card information to hold our reservation. Get across town and the girl sitting at the desk is on her cell phone and tells us she has nothing available that it was a mistake she just got off the phone with someone who reserved it. When we ask for a manager she tells us in the rudest way she is the manager. No apology or help in anyway. Then find one at McHenry and get there and the girl is just as pleasant as the other location. Next move we will definitely be using someone else! read more

Fabian is the one who scheduled and after speaking to a young lady she mention that he knew they didn't have someone in at that time that he shouldn't have scheduled it for that time. Good luck getting anybody to actually answer the phone. I'm currently on hold, and have waited 22 minutes so far without anybody even answering the phone. You can't tell me that not one person was available for 22 minutes to answer the phone. They gave me one price, but when I got there and picked up the truck, it was more than twice as much. They said I would have to wait until the manager returned from vacation 3 days later to rectify the situation. They had quoted me including mileage, but then said mileage was extra the day I picked it up. At that point what do you do? You need the truck so you can't cancel at that point. They said they wouldn't charge my card until I spoke to the manager Tuesday, but they charged it anyway. When I went in the day before that to buy some packing tape, Sam came out after I sat there for a few minutes and said "someone will be right with you" but then closed the back room door, and didn't come back to help me. Another girl ended up returning from lunch, or starting her shift, and she helped me within a few minutes. Customer service is beyond horrible. The general feeling you get is that nobody really cares. Pretty sad. The manager Serina finally answered the phone and said the girl that quoted me was new, and that's the way it is. I told her she shouldn't have somebody quoting on their own if they do not know what they are doing yet. read more

This is the worst uhaul in the world. They've essentially stolen my money. I was charged twice for a trailer for one day. The first amount was $118, the second charge was for $127. When I went in to resolve the charges. I was told by the employee that he wouldn't refund the extra charge. That I would just have to lose my money. When i called the uhaul corporate number, they asked to speak with him and he flat out refused. How can this be an acceptable practice? I cant recall his name as he wasn't wearing a name tag. However, I do have the name Miguel Amaya, jr. on my receipt as well as the dispatching signature of FS-310041 (hard to tell as the writing is deplorable). I'll never return here and most likely never use uhaul again! If you wanna get burned, overcharged and treated like garbage, than by all means go there. I'm absolutely livid, as now I'll most likely end up overdrawn due to this companies incompetence, negligence and just general lack of proper business practices. If yelp gave an opportunity for negative or no stars, I'd choose a -5 as this place is the absolute worst. read more

I have to write this review from two different viewpoints, mine and my wife's. The reason for this is we were there two different times, separately. In the spirit of fairness I will state that my wife would have rated it overall average, the poor rating is mine. Her two complaints were; The two people at the counter both took personal phone calls while helping her and the customer next to her, she thought this was very rude and unprofessional. Also she was the only female customer in the store out of three and she was the only one the staff did not ask to go out to the truck and do an inspection. When she asked if she too needed to do this she was told "not necessary." Why the different treatment? My reasons for the poor rating are as follows: I picked the truck up with the keys and contract already having been obtained by my wife, I was told to check the fuel level and odometer against what was recorded on the contract. I did so, noticing "7/16" on the paperwork and the needle on the truck in between 7/16 and 3/8, knowing I was only driving about ten miles total and I would put a little gas in it before I brought it back anyway, I did not want to make an issue out of such a petty discrepancy. When I returned it I had only driven twelve miles and the needle had not moved so I figured id just pay the refuel charge if any. The attendant returned from inspecting the truck and told me it was going to be $18 refuel fee. There was a gas station across the street so I opted to go put $10 in the tank instead of pay the $18. after the second inspection he still told me it would be $18 dollar refuel fee. I showed him the receipt from the gas station and directed his attention to the odometer. He told me I must have held my head incorrectly when I looked at the needle the first time and I should have taken a picture of the gas needle before I left. I went a second time to the gas station, again putting $10 dollars in the tank for a total of $20. Keep in mind I had only driven 12 miles with a small piano as my only cargo. When the attendant came back from the third inspection (which I passed thank god) I showed him my gas receipts and did the math for him on my phone ($20 / $3.12 per gallon = 6.4 gallons / 12 miles driven = .53 miles to the gallon) ? This had no impact on him. He simply repeated "I understand sir." over and over. U-Haul has lost my future business. Not wanting to present a negative review without offering a solution, I strongly suggest a policy change of leave with a full tank, return with a full tank. In addition, discretion on small issues and customer service should be taught and audited by U-Haul for employees and franchise owners alike. read more

I've been dealing with U-Haul since the 1980's they have always gone the extra mile in service, Last year, I had a hitch n wiring put on my Van for my Medical Scooter Lift. I had a problem this year with the wiring, I took it back last week cuz my license plate light was the not on the tech (Fabian) he didn't mount the wiring to the hitch he stuffed it inside the paneling in the back of the Van, note, I have never had to question U-Haul when they have installed a hitch n wiring they r professionals n, I have had several hitches n wiring install..(Fabian) had a poor attitude last year he would be arguementive n rude. Well when, I took it in last week the Owner said immediately when he saw my hitch he said this is UNEXCEPTABLE it was done wrong so he scheduled and appointment for this week to mount n rewire it correctly. Note, I didn't make the appointment the Owner wanted it corrected. When, I came in on Tues Feb 16th for my !0:30am appointment. Right off the bat (Fabian) had a bad attitude n he yelled n told me, I have over a 2 hour wait. I was told that, I was his first App, n he doesn't start til 10:30 n, I was their at 10:20am, I asked him how is that possible, I had a 10:30 app he started to yell at me n, I said that's not right he kept on yelling at me in front of coustomer's, I just went into the waiting room didn't have time for his attitude. Well it didn't take over 2hrs only n hour. Immediately he wanted to know what, I wanted, I was trying to explain it to him but he was not having nothing to do with it. I finally said read the worked order he read it n said u just want the trailer hitch wiring mounted, I said not me the Owner. He said it was unexceptable work his response was way didn't the Owner remount i himself. I said, I don't know n he told me he would have dismantle my Medical Scooter Lift from the Van. I told him 'NO' their was no reason to he was just going to put on a bracket for the wiring. He was upset n demanded me to go inside the waiting room which, I did then, I changed my mine how do, I know what he was going to do upset so went n asked him were r u mounting the bracket (Fabian blew a gasket) n started to wave n swing his arm n hands started to yell r u going to paid for the bracket n u wanted it mounted this went on for a bit then when he stopped yelling at me, I told him, I didn't make the app n, I didn't asked to be mounted the Owner did cuz he said the work was unsatisfactory he calmed down n showed me where it was being mounted. I went to pay for the bracket (Fabian) had a smugged look on his face n was smirking at me. I paid the 9.00 dollars n then he thank me for coming in laughing at me so "Unprofessional" I told him he should of did the work correctly last year. (Fabian) just kept on laughing saying Thank U n Come Back Soon as, I walked out the door. U-Haul should monitor their employees (Fabian) thinks he is a gift from God. Note, I won't be returning to U-Haul on Kanas Ave in Modesto, I would go out of my way to avoid (Fabian) read more
