My friend and I each got our own DIY spring roll set and I got a cup of beef pho broth with an order of rice noodles to make a mini bowl of pho for myself on the side. The spring roll set comes with 4 sheets of rice paper, fresh veggies (lettuce, basil, cucumber, pickled carrots), rice noodles, your choice of protein (we chose pork sausage), and dipping sauce. The pho broth was flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The spring rolls came out amazing and were so filling. My only suggestion would be to have the carrots shredded instead of sliced to get a more even distribution within the spring rolls. But overall it was a fantastic meal. The food is much the same - you get something that looks like Nonna was at the range all day with her sauce (it's not gravy - no meat) and you came home looking like you haven't eaten in weeks: "I'm gonna fatten you up before you leave" and you walked out the door with a sub (sandwich, that is - not a submarine) that weighed the same as a newborn. We got three of those babies: a Chicago Beef (seal of approval from the orderer - only 'complaint' was that they had to eat it all in one day because the bread was quote too soggy to make it to lunch the next day - travesty), an Italian sausage (just as delicious when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and a Chicken Parmeroni (I thought somehow even better when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and I could have absolutely gone back the next day if it weren't for A. the leftovers 2/3 of us had and B. the meal planning we'd done for the week. I also grabbed a side of giardiniera because I will get it anytime I see it available and I inhaled it - I need to know if I can by it by the vat instead of the side cups because it too was similar to what I can find at home (about practically nowhere out here) and amazing!! The Cuban came on toasted rustic roll, which was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The pork shoulder and ham were cooked perfectly and had such an amazing flavor. The grain mustard and Swiss cheese really brought everything together though. The chips were nice, salty, and very crunchy. Nothing crazy to write about, but I still enjoyed them. Overall, it's probably one of the best Cubans I've had, but I'm not an expert on them. I've been back a second time and it was just as good as the first!

My husband is a long-time European transplant, and is always on the hunt for meats that are more like what he grew up with. The shopkeepers barely speak any English but are friendly, and prompt. We've tried some of their cakes, too. I highly recommend you give them a try for a nice sandwich during the day and maybe sample a bit of their market offerings. Much of this stuff you can't get without paying import prices.
