One of our favorite wetlands is in Forest Grove and we love pairing it with a visit to this Bakehouse. It's pretty small, but they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Every single person I've interacted with has been so incredibly kind, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. They have a full coffee menu, make their own syrups, and often have an employee special that's fun to try! Don't skip a drink! They also offer an array of pastries and bread. I love their almond croissant, even though it's not usually my first choice. There are so many layers and it's so flavorful. I'm also a big fan of their breakfast sandwich, mostly because it comes on a croissant. Honestly, you can't go wrong here. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try next time you are in the area, you won't regret it. And heads up that they also have a spot at the Orenco Farmers market so you can grab pastries there as well! read more

Had the opportunity to try more than just that perfect pastry and morning drink combo I usually go with and I ordered the turkey bagel sandwich, as well as a half a loaf of bread to go for the upcoming week. The turkey bagel was made from fresh ingredients and well packed, it was a delicious way to start the day! While I was exploring more of Forest Grove I was thinking back to what I was charged, thinking it was a quite a bit more than my last visit here, and I did look back at the menu and realize I was charged double for my half loaf ($9 for a half loaf of bread). I totally understand mistakes happen, I went back and the staff were very helpful in finding my order and refunding me the amount I was over charged. Can't wait to try more from Slow Rise! read more

Well this is a cool little bakery next to the university. The small size of the place, with the doorknob entryway reminded me of a few coffee shops in Dublin Ireland. It's the old-school aesthetics I guess. We weren't really greeted until we walked up to the display case, but it's sorta expected. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday, so it was near closing time (2pm). Really though, no issue with service as the lady that helped us was nice. It was still fairly busy, plus I did see her clean up tables. As for the bakery selection, they offered everything from bread loafs and baguettes, to croissants, cruffins and muffins, to fresh cheesey bagels, and finally to little monkey breads and cookies. For it being late in the afternoon for a bakery, I still wanted to try every kind. We ended up getting two coffee drinks and a couple of sweet pastries for about $21. Decided to visit a little coffee shop on the edge of Pacific University campus in Forest Grove. You order first, then grab a table. At least thats what people should do, but some did not. The shop is small and can take it to go, or eat there. Drinks: 1. Strawberry Iced Matcha: loved the matcha, not too gritty and good balance 2. Iced Cappuccino: loved the espresso 3. Brown Sugar Latte: i loved the latte art but more importantly the syrup. Pastries: 1. Cinnamon Roll: surprisingly delicious. It looked like a monstrous roll, but it was a lovely sweet treat 2. Oat Jam Bar: pretty dry, but a lovely marionberry jam 3. Ham and Cheese croissant: nice flakey crust and a delicious savory ham Entrees: 1. Yogurt Parfait: they brought out a fresh one, but seemed to be missing the fruit or sweetness. It was a lot of granola and honey flavor. Yogurt by itself was sour 2. Croque Monsieur: Definitely not traditional and was not my favorite. It was definitely a miss 3. Avocado Toast: i loved the toast and the spices. So refreshing and optional to add an egg 4. Loaded Bagel: with lox and a perfect balance of capers and cream cheese. The everything bagel was perfection 5. Croissant Sandwich: this was okay. Opted for bacon over sausage and it was very basic. This is a cool place! The vibe is amazing - small corner bakery with the best bread on the planet. We got a bunch of food: a white chocolate cranberry muffin that did not disappoint, croque monsieur tartine that the husband swore by, an orange flavor mocha which was utterly delicious, just toast which was anything but and drip coffee which was a bit of a letdown but ok. Their bread is beautiful - I am not a fan of the sourdough taste but even I got busy with that toast. My only feedback would be to perhaps have a few vegan options on the food menu. Absolutely understandable if that is not the vibe they're going for here but would be good to have some options! Of course their drinks can be made with non dairy options and that is much appreciated. Great place for pastry and a cuppa!!! People rave about their croissants so I stopped by one day and had a memorable Almond pastry!!! I love marzipan ! and the almond pastries have THAT intense almond flavor inside. They are light and crispy, topped with golden toasty almonds and lovely (not too sweet) drizzel. We just ate at their "new" location. They've been here for quite a while but we hadn't made it in yet. Ordered four items and received one. Finally I had to go back to the counter and remind them the other three items they were supposed to give us and this is after watching several other people come in behind us and order the exact same items and leave with them. Slow Rise is a cozy vibe. What more can I say. I visited their old location right before they moved and missed out on some breads, however I loved the cardamom morning bun and pain au chocolat. Since they have moved I'm glad to see they have kept their friendly team of staff at their new location near the college and their espresso is top notch. The pastries and breads have improved in texture and taste. The laminated dough is flakier and more airy than ever. I was excited to see some new offerings like a savory bacon and herb cruffin. I am always on the hunt for delicious pastries and coffee. Slow Rise Bakehouse did not disappoint! When we arrived there was no line, so i was able to take my time looking at all the food options (thank gosh because I'm incredibly indecisive). They have lots of bread like baguettes, ciabatta, country, rye, or bagels. And tons pastries like scones, croissants cinnamon rolls, danishes, etc. I ordered a cold brew and my husband ordered a cardamom latte with oat milk. To eat we got a cinnamon roll, an almond turnover, and a bacon cheddar cruffin. They had a lot of seating but shortly after we sat to wait for our drinks a line formed and the place felt very crowded and loud. We thankfully ordered to go already so we just enjoyed our pastries and coffee outside! I loved my cold brew, and my husband said his latte was really good. I'm not a fan of cardamom so i'll just have to take his word for it! Haha. The almond turnover was delicious. I loved the flakiness, and the almond filling was YUM. The cinnamon roll was satisfying. I like the ratio of frosting to roll, some places go skimpy on the frosting and they thankfully don't! The bacon cheddar cruffin was soft and flavorful. I was out in Forest Grove to take my daughter and her friends to a lacrosse event at Pacific University and we stopped by for a snack after the event. Sadly they were sold out of most of their stuff (not surprising by noon on a Saturday morning). We got a couple croissants and gingerbread cookies. The cookies had great flavor but were so hard.
