    Full sheet cake w photo
    David H.

Bought a full sheet cake w photo of son for his high school graduation party. Half chocolate and half vanilla. Cake was moist and not too sugary, but sugar print photo was bad, printed too green, while original photo was perfect. Also my wife asked for sprinkles on surface and not done. Guy who brought the cake out was not a baker. Little disappointed in the photo but nothing we could do on the day of the party. Cake was like $75 so you expect better. Wish we had ordered earlier, but we had no refrigerator to hold a full size sheet cake. Baker should have realized by looking at the photo against the sugar print that the printer was not working well. Next time, we go back to the Stop and Shop we know does good work.

The 2-stars this place receives is exceedingly generous. I waited for 10 minutes at the deli. The two guys working were in S-L-O-W M-O-T-I-O-N!! The person who was leaving with her cold cuts (when I hit the 10 minute mark) was huffing, shaking her head, and said that she was there for 25 minutes. I gave up. Then I bought a few items in the aisles. Went to the front checkout area, where there was ONE serviced checkout line open. I proceeded to the self checkouts, where there was a long line. Every self checkout busy, then 3 people in front of me waiting, then me, then 2 more people behind me (see 1st pic). The experience was AWFUL. But wait, there's more... I get the receipt, asking for feedback. But the ink is screwed up so you can't read it (see 2nd pic). Then on my way out, an employee bumps into me and doesn't say excuse me. This place is the worst run grocery store in the entire area.

Bathroom is DISGUSTING. Nothing like the smell of old piss to ruin your week. I don't think it's been cleaned properly since 2020.

One of the worst supermarkets I have been to in the state and I have been to a lot. Empty shelves and dirty aisles. Should be closed.

It's really that bad. We go if we need some steaks only because other stores are shaving their steaks down to slivers. But it'll cost ya. The produce is really bad, usually old and rubbery. Go to Market Basket for better produce. Usually if we are making a steak dinner we buy all the ingredients at Market Basket and then come here to buy the steak. Everything here is about 10 to 20 percent higher cost. And it's obvious, the place is usually empty, you'll never see a lot of customers in this store.

The sandwich looked and smelled great, but things went a little sideways. They were out of blue cheese for the panini, which happens -- no big deal. I even offered to grab a package from the cheese section myself, but was told that wasn't allowed. So American cheese it was. The real disappointment was the Italian. The salami still had the casing (skin) on it, and it was completely unchewable. I ended up having to peel it off slice by slice, which totally killed the experience. Nothing ruins a good-looking sandwich faster than fighting it just to take a bite. I'm sure I'll be back -- Big Y is usually solid -- but maybe not during the dinner rush. Attention to small details like this really matters. Big Y, do better.

I sometimes like to be efficient and that is why I like the self checkout lanes at grocery stores...here, they don't have them. Yes, it's not as luxurious to shop in, it's usually mobbed, the aisles are tight and the parking lot sucks. Produce is not as great in some items, and they don't carry as many super-speciality foods as Whole Foods or Stop & Shop. However, the people who work there are amazing. They are abundant (try almost every checkout line open during rush) and helpful, and friendly, and the store is well stocked and well managed. No self checkout crap. You don't need it, there's always a line open. We'd kill for an upgraded facility like the nicer newer Market Baskets that do exist, but our Bellingham store crew, from the managers to the baggers are amazing, and make shopping here worth the visit. Their meat department is wonderful, the seafood is great and if you can get near the deli, they work hard and are great too. Finally, a shout out to the bakery and prepared food folks - they are awesome. The food is great and they couldn't be more helpful. We love MB, just wish it was as a new one. Oh, and don't go near the place the day before a major snowstorm, or any Sunday at noon. Plan your visit if possible. 5 stars for the staff and people and management, 3 for the facility. It really needs an upgrade.

I like the quality of their paper towels, napkins, etc. They are thick and absorbent. Most of the packaging also have the thickness labelled on it, which is a great way to compare brands...usually they are labelled in microns or mils. The higher the number, the thicker the product. Easy self checkout process.

While there are savings to be had, we often experience disappointment BJ's in Franklin, MA. Sadly,…read morethese same issues usually apply to the store in Johnston, RI. Pros: 1. Friendly staff 2. Decent selection 3. Good deals on sale items Cons: 1. Frequently out of broiled chickens. A reason we go is to get something quick for dinner. Too often, they are 30+ minutes from being ready, and even when the timer goes off, it takes them 10-15 minutes to package them for sale. We leave knowing we need to fix something else tor dinner. - People surround the area in in an unorganized queue spending 10 minutes jockeying for position. Rude people usually make it to the front. - The people processing chickens also man the deli counter, so they are often too busy to work with the broiled chickens. GET THEM HELP!! 2. Gas may not be as cheap as you think. Their advertised prices (maybe at all BJ's??) include the 5 per cent discount by using the BJ's credit card. I get a better deal elsewhere using my Costco Visa card, getting 4% back on gas (5% at Costco.) At $4.50 a gallon, that's 18 cents a gallon I save with the Costco card, making local stations near I-495 MUCH more affordable. The same $4.50 price at Speedway or Gulf is $4.32 with my Costco card. Also, all my other Visa and Discover cards often have 5% quarterly rewards for "gas stations" which usually includes items bought at their attached convenience stores, such as Cumberland Farms, Speedway, Seasons/Nouria, Sheetz, and the awesome Wawa in NJ/PA. 3. Produce, especially bananas & berries, is not as fresh and spoils quicker than produce from major supermarkets. It seems to take a while for buyers from other companies to pass on the merchandise before it winds up at stores like BJ's and Costco. 4. Better deals can be found at supermarkets if you shop for what's on sale, without having to buy in bulk.
