The good: They have some decent cuts of meat that are tough to find at other grocery stores…read more The Bad: This store seems to be extremely overpriced compared to others. It's really that bad. We go if we need some steaks only because other stores are shaving their steaks down to slivers. But it'll cost ya. The produce is really bad, usually old and rubbery. Go to Market Basket for better produce. Usually if we are making a steak dinner we buy all the ingredients at Market Basket and then come here to buy the steak. Everything here is about 10 to 20 percent higher cost. And it's obvious, the place is usually empty, you'll never see a lot of customers in this store.

The sandwich looked and smelled great, but things went a little sideways. They were out of blue cheese for the panini, which happens -- no big deal. I even offered to grab a package from the cheese section myself, but was told that wasn't allowed. So American cheese it was. The real disappointment was the Italian. The salami still had the casing (skin) on it, and it was completely unchewable. I ended up having to peel it off slice by slice, which totally killed the experience. Nothing ruins a good-looking sandwich faster than fighting it just to take a bite. I'm sure I'll be back -- Big Y is usually solid -- but maybe not during the dinner rush. Attention to small details like this really matters. Big Y, do better.

Typical Market Basket grocery store. I stopped here to get some healthy snacks and their selection…read morewas good and well priced. I sometimes like to be efficient and that is why I like the self checkout lanes at grocery stores...here, they don't have them. The company wants to have cash registers manned and open to encourage customer interaction. Good thing to focus on human interactions.

Yes, it's not as luxurious to shop in, it's usually mobbed, the aisles are tight and the parking lot sucks. Produce is not as great in some items, and they don't carry as many super-speciality foods as Whole Foods or Stop & Shop. However, the people who work there are amazing. They are abundant (try almost every checkout line open during rush) and helpful, and friendly, and the store is well stocked and well managed. No self checkout crap. You don't need it, there's always a line open. We'd kill for an upgraded facility like the nicer newer Market Baskets that do exist, but our Bellingham store crew, from the managers to the baggers are amazing, and make shopping here worth the visit. Their meat department is wonderful, the seafood is great and if you can get near the deli, they work hard and are great too. Finally, a shout out to the bakery and prepared food folks - they are awesome. The food is great and they couldn't be more helpful. We love MB, just wish it was as a new one. Oh, and don't go near the place the day before a major snowstorm, or any Sunday at noon. Plan your visit if possible. 5 stars for the staff and people and management, 3 for the facility. It really needs an upgrade.

Produce all very fresh. The premade packaged foods for on -the-go were freshly made. Nothing expired or past date that I saw on this trip. I was able to get some fresh fruit chopped up for half price to bring to a get together today. The woman who cashed me out was very nice, just starting her shift at the register, and was conversative which was nice. Once I finished loading groceries into my car a nice employee -older man -asked if he could take my cart for me. I was just about to bring it back inside myself but this was nice and we told each other to have a nice day. Just some simple kindness goes a long way. I am happy to see the change in attitude here with these new employees. Definitely for the better!

They have a nice fresh meat and seafood department as well as a great cheese selection. I love the variety of baked goods as well and everything is made in house as far as I know. I have recently started picking up The too good to go bags there and I've been very impressed with a variety selection of items that they have and they're too good to go bags. It's really nice to travel. Try new things I always might not be able to afford. Because in some price things they are a little pricey than others but that's OK because you get what you pay for. The service is always on top people explain what you want And if they don't have something they would like if you can wait we can make it for you and that's perfect because I wanted to try a pizza one time they didn't have it. They said they can give us 15 minutes. We can throw one in the oven and they did and that to me was just above and beyond what I expect for most businesses, especially a large chain store like Whole Foods. Please keep up the good work everyone

While there are savings to be had, we often experience disappointment BJ's in Franklin, MA. Sadly,…read morethese same issues usually apply to the store in Johnston, RI. Pros: 1. Friendly staff 2. Decent selection 3. Good deals on sale items Cons: 1. Frequently out of broiled chickens. A reason we go is to get something quick for dinner. Too often, they are 30+ minutes from being ready, and even when the timer goes off, it takes them 10-15 minutes to package them for sale. We leave knowing we need to fix something else tor dinner. - People surround the area in in an unorganized queue spending 10 minutes jockeying for position. Rude people usually make it to the front. - The people processing chickens also man the deli counter, so they are often too busy to work with the broiled chickens. GET THEM HELP!! 2. Gas may not be as cheap as you think. Their advertised prices (maybe at all BJ's??) include the 5 per cent discount by using the BJ's credit card. I get a better deal elsewhere using my Costco Visa card, getting 4% back on gas (5% at Costco.) At $4.50 a gallon, that's 18 cents a gallon I save with the Costco card, making local stations near I-495 MUCH more affordable. The same $4.50 price at Speedway or Gulf is $4.32 with my Costco card. Also, all my other Visa and Discover cards often have 5% quarterly rewards for "gas stations" which usually includes items bought at their attached convenience stores, such as Cumberland Farms, Speedway, Seasons/Nouria, Sheetz, and the awesome Wawa in NJ/PA. 3. Produce, especially bananas & berries, is not as fresh and spoils quicker than produce from major supermarkets. It seems to take a while for buyers from other companies to pass on the merchandise before it winds up at stores like BJ's and Costco. 4. Better deals can be found at supermarkets if you shop for what's on sale, without having to buy in bulk.

The Michelob Ultra bottles were previously on the bottom shelf, readily accessible, and the cans on the bottom shelf. They have since reversed these items. Given the weight of the bottles and location height, It is more than difficult to retrieve the bottles from the top shelf. My request(s) have gone unaddressed. Kindly ask that they put the bottles on the bottom, and the cans on the top. It is a nuisance to ask for help retrieving a case of Ultra every time I purchase.
