Bait and switch, $2.99 deal turns out $8.89 ripoff and bad night manager!
    David H.

Stopped in on a Friday night 7 pm for some fish and chips and other foods for the family. Some online deal for $2.99 meal, but you needed to download the Big Y app. Wife went to front desk while we shopped. She met us near seafood counter and said to order. I asked for fish and chips, per menu only one option at $8.99. Counter person said "pollock or haddock?". I ordered haddock. Picked up order and went to check out to pay. Had $80 worth of food. Leaving we find that the service desk clerk who helped my wife load the app did it wrong and no app. We were charged $8.99. She went back and store manager sneered and was jerk. In the end we find out seafood counter clerk upcharged us for haddock order which was not on special. Mistake or bait and switch, plus night manager rude idiot means never again at Bug Y for us. Usually an empty lot compared to Shaws down the street, now clear that that is for a reason.

And when he does, it's short and cold. Tonight, we ordered cheese. We were looking around the area while we waited. When he was done, he just hung his hand over the top of the counter, waiting for us to notice him instead of just letting us know our order was ready. My wife spots him and takes it from his hand and says "thanks". He says nothing and just walked away. He didn't ask us if we needed anything else, he didn't say "you're welcome". He said nothing. This is normal from him. We've actually avoided ordering from there on occasion because he was there and we saw how he was being with other customers ahead of us. We are sometimes in there a couple times a week and this guy is seriously the only complaint we have.

Instead of applying the $10 produce coupon to the non-sale items--which would have given me the proper discount--the register system completely wiped out the weekly sale prices on my watermelon and avocado, marked them back up to their full original prices, and applied the coupon to those instead. As a result, using the $10 coupon actually made my total bill HIGHER than if I hadn't used the coupon at all! This is either a very misleading checkout system or a huge glitch in the store's POS software that takes advantage of customers who aren't closely checking their itemized receipts. Please audit your checkout software, Customers, please double-check your receipts carefully when using coupons here!

Yes, it's not as luxurious to shop in, it's usually mobbed, the aisles are tight and the parking lot sucks. Produce is not as great in some items, and they don't carry as many super-speciality foods as Whole Foods or Stop & Shop. However, the people who work there are amazing. They are abundant (try almost every checkout line open during rush) and helpful, and friendly, and the store is well stocked and well managed. No self checkout crap. You don't need it, there's always a line open. We'd kill for an upgraded facility like the nicer newer Market Baskets that do exist, but our Bellingham store crew, from the managers to the baggers are amazing, and make shopping here worth the visit. Their meat department is wonderful, the seafood is great and if you can get near the deli, they work hard and are great too. Finally, a shout out to the bakery and prepared food folks - they are awesome. The food is great and they couldn't be more helpful. We love MB, just wish it was as a new one. Oh, and don't go near the place the day before a major snowstorm, or any Sunday at noon. Plan your visit if possible. 5 stars for the staff and people and management, 3 for the facility. It really needs an upgrade.

Never had 'em before but decided to get them for a memorial day cookout I'm having Monday, based on 2 factors: 1) They have very basic ingredients: cucumbers, brine (water, distilled white vinegar, salt), garlic, fresh dill, grape leaves. 2) Thought they were made in Boston - BUT they're out of Norwich, CT. Like to support local companies, but it's all good. Pickles rang up and they were $9.49 before the S&S card... that's a little too much for me to pay for pickles, not to mention the tag where they were located said $4.99. Told the guy at check out to leave them off because they were priced at $4.99 and $9.49 is too much for pickles. Just to leave with peace of mind that I didn't read the price wrong, I went back and checked. I saw nothing stating the pickles we're $9.49. Alex, who was working where the scratch tickets and cigarettes are, asked if there was something he could help me with. I said yes and proceeded to tell my story. He made sure to rectify the situation. He was in the process of telling the workers over near the deli counter that there were, in fact, no price tags where the pickles were located and told me he'd ring the pickles up as the marked price - $4.99. Thanks again, Alex! :) Nicest person I've ever encountered at this location!!

We've…read moreseen many changes over the years, but this review will cover only our recent experiences. Since Amazon took over, there has been a decline. Favorite products have disappeared and produce quality can often be hit or miss. Strawberries specifically can either be great or a disaster. The meat department is excellent. The prepared food dept is excellent. In fact I only have two complaints. First, the Amazon "pickers" who rush around the store putting orders together. These black-vested carriage bashers don't pay attention as they stare at their phones, push their way through crowded aisles, and don't give rats behind about regular customers. They are rude and disrespectful. I have yet to find a competent, courteous, aware black-vest "pickers" yet. It's a detriment to the experience. I wish the store would train these people to chill out and remember that people are spending $200-300 a week there not to be fighting over broccoli with a 50-year old roboshopper. My second complaint is pricing. It's frustrating to see a price of an item jump from reasonable to "too expensive so I won't buy it." Caulipower Chicken nuggets went from $8.99 to $12.99 in just two years. Steak strips went from $14.99 to $17.99 to now $21.99 in the same time span. Chocolate candy that was always under $10 is now $14 in just a year. I understand that pricing has increased in all grocery stores, but the hikes and jumps at WF is painfully excessive. Why do I keep going back? Because it's still the best store in our area. Always clean and easy to navigate. They usually have everything we're looking for and a smart shopper can ship the yellow tags and save a good amount on routine items. But the BEST thing about this store is the people. I could list half the employees that work there and have been there for years. They make the experience exceptional and deserve five stars, just in their own. Friendly, helpful, thoughtful, real, kind people who we trust. I haven't found that at Stop & Shop or Trader Joe's... at least not consistently. Their catering and holiday meals are fantastic and their teams are always super helpful in putting together the right combinations. We have ordered catering for work and home and our Thanksgiving meals are always great. They work hard on getting these right. TL;DR - shopping at WF in Bellingham MA is usually a pleasant experience though expensive. The Amazon "pickers" are often rude, pushy, and discourteous. The regular staff are wonderful and great at their jobs, always going the extra mile. Prices are tough to swallow sometimes and they often abandon favorite products to cater to shelf real estate. Five stars for the people, teams, and service. However, the other stuff took it down to four stars. we continue to shop between here and Market Basket weekly. I hope this was helpful.

Friendly staff 2. Decent selection 3. Good deals on sale items Cons: 1. Frequently out of broiled chickens. A reason we go is to get something quick for dinner. Too often, they are 30+ minutes from being ready, and even when the timer goes off, it takes them 10-15 minutes to package them for sale. We leave knowing we need to fix something else tor dinner. - People surround the area in in an unorganized queue spending 10 minutes jockeying for position. Rude people usually make it to the front. - The people processing chickens also man the deli counter, so they are often too busy to work with the broiled chickens. GET THEM HELP!! 2. Gas may not be as cheap as you think. Their advertised prices (maybe at all BJ's??) include the 5 per cent discount by using the BJ's credit card. I get a better deal elsewhere using my Costco Visa card, getting 4% back on gas (5% at Costco.) At $4.50 a gallon, that's 18 cents a gallon I save with the Costco card, making local stations near I-495 MUCH more affordable. The same $4.50 price at Speedway or Gulf is $4.32 with my Costco card. Also, all my other Visa and Discover cards often have 5% quarterly rewards for "gas stations" which usually includes items bought at their attached convenience stores, such as Cumberland Farms, Speedway, Seasons/Nouria, Sheetz, and the awesome Wawa in NJ/PA. 3. Produce, especially bananas & berries, is not as fresh and spoils quicker than produce from major supermarkets. It seems to take a while for buyers from other companies to pass on the merchandise before it winds up at stores like BJ's and Costco. 4. Better deals can be found at supermarkets if you shop for what's on sale, without having to buy in bulk.
