Fri, July 24. Around 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. There's a deli employee, an older gentleman. Rudest person in the store. Every single time he's behind the counter, he's rude. Barely says anything. And when he does, it's short and cold. Tonight, we ordered cheese. We were looking around the area while we waited. When he was done, he just hung his hand over the top of the counter, waiting for us to notice him instead of just letting us know our order was ready. My wife spots him and takes it from his hand and says "thanks". He says nothing and just walked away. He didn't ask us if we needed anything else, he didn't say "you're welcome". He said nothing. This is normal from him. We've actually avoided ordering from there on occasion because he was there and we saw how he was being with other customers ahead of us. We are sometimes in there a couple times a week and this guy is seriously the only complaint we have. read more

Stopped here to pick up some olive oil for friend in Franklin since we were making a nice homemade salad and dressing. The store was similar to other ones I've been to and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I also checked some of their weekly specials and they were well stocked...many times I've been to other Shaw's and the shelves are empty of the weekly specials... I did self checkout, but the people working in that area seemed very nice. read more

I used to do online shopping with Stop & Shop, but got disgusted with add on fees. I decided to give Shaw's at try and I'm so glad I did! Their shoppers take great care to pick out very fresh perishable items, well packed to bring to the car, the prices are competitive and no extra fees that rack up the total! I've been very happy with the quality and availability of everything I use and highly recommend this location. read more

I think they must have updated their wifi service as it works like a charm now. Shaws is the best grocery store in my area. They have amazing meat deals every week. But, and a big BUTT- Their steaks, even New York strip and T-bones are pretty tough, not sure why, and before anyone says anything :) its not my cooking or bbq'ing. It just seems their steak meat is always tough; maybe it has to do with the grade, and that's why they can offer such good weekly meat deals. Also, the only other drawback to their advertised great weekly specials is that they always seem to run out of the produce that they are advertising. 2 weeks ago (I was out of town after I shopped there) but 2 weeks ago, I went in to buy produce for my husband as I was going to be out of town... it looked like locusts had gone through, there was nothing, and I mean nothing in the produce section that was advertised, the bins were empty, and it was only 5 pm. I guess one needs to get there earlier in the day, not after work, which is when I generally toodle in. read more

MOLDY DELI SANDWICHES I've filled out surveys plenty of times but nothing changes. I frequent Shaw's for lunch options as they have a large variety. I love the sandwiches for the size and price! Total steal. Except it seems they often change the dates on the sandwiches rather than make fresh ones. Today my sandwich bread was moldy. Yesterday the sandwiches wildly ranged in size yet all cost the same. I'm upset that I constantly have to examine my sandwiches to make sure they're not old. I once opened my sandwich and the pepperoni was completely brown. This isn't acceptable. I didn't eat lunch today because I used my money to purchased a moldy soggy sandwich from your deli. read more

I'd give them a 0 star! While shopping, I was standing by the bakery department looking at items- my son walked over towards the case to look at cupcakes. I hard someone state, " Do not touch the glass" I immediately spoke to her (Isabel ) regarding her rude customer service and asked for a manager. The glass was already marked with hand prints and because my son was brown skin- she felt the need to correct him. making him feel bad for being a kid and picking out cupcakes. I am highly unset and DO NOT TOLERATE racism when it comes to my child. I spoke with Emma (the evening manager)-she acted as if she was feeling sorry about the situation but ran straight to the self checkout area to gossip about my complaint to another employee. Been a regular shopper here for the past 5 years. Improving and great now. Best fish market in area, very fresh, very clean, keeps cooked separate from raw goods. Fish abundant, shell fish good. Meat department pretty good, grinds own beef, good cuts, specials, made to order. Veg/fruit department very good, fresh, plentiful. Clean place, ample parking lot. Most of staff pleasant. Bakery is just so-so, cakes and frosting too sweet. Fried chicken is pretty good. Pizza - avoid. Mostly chalky dough, burnt on bottom and not much for toppings. Problem - no phone connectivity and no wifi, so the Shaw's App doesn't work inside the store. Can't call out unless you are by checkout or outside. So, compared to Big Y, Stop-n-Shop, Trader Joes - this Shaw's is superior, but if you are looking for specialty items, ethnic goods, prepared foods, best to try Trader Joes or Big Y. read more

Folks!!!!!! Can I just say that the Shaws in Franklin had a HUGE makeover and I'm all for it!!! I hesitantly came inside to grab something quickly and WOW! They had a re-grand opening. I can't get too excited about a Shaw's unless there's something extraordinary about it, but my first trip into the Franklin Shaw's was fascinating for this City girl: HUGE parking lot (I know, parking is everywhere in the 'burbs, but please indulge me), lots of registers and self-checkout, beer AND wine, helpful employees in the aisles AND they were sampling KerryGold cheese today which is one of my favs. That was just the icing on the grocery store cake! Not sure where everyone else around here shops if they say this is expensive (Market Basket, maybe, but isn't that place always a zoo?) but if I am in the area again, I will be sure to come back. read more

The most strangest thing happened to me this morning the lady behind me in line bought my groceries at Shaw's because she overheard me say I work in nursing overnight. I was wearing my silly one of my silly hats this morning that my patience like. And had forgotten to take it off. My cashier was a girl I have seen three times already this week so she knew what I do and she asked how things were going at work and she was very friendly her name was Mackenzie. She is a cashier at the Shaw's in Franklin and she always seems to care about her customers and remember things about them. It was just amazing if we were talking in the lady's name Carol behind us overheard what we were talking about and she said Mackenzie I would like to buy her groceries for what she does. She said it isn't something I could do but I want to just say thank you. It made me cry because through all of this or even life itself people have never done this for me before I didn't really expect it it's just my job I like what I do everyday I like my residence my coworkers otherwise I would have done this job for 44 years of my life and I'm still going to do it for as long as I can. Thank you everyone we all have to do a little part to this to help everyone else as well as ourselves. read more

Beware! This Shaw's has CLOSED its Self-Checkout lines. All of them!!! Apparently none of us are to be trusted. Sign of the times? I'm very disappointed in Shaw's store management. For me, self checkout with Tap-to-pay (ApplePay in my case) was a feature. One less reason to remain a patron. Regrettable. read more

They removed the self-checkout so I am no longer coming here. I don't want to sound like a dick but they must not realize that people use the self-checkout because they don't want to deal with the slow and careless cashiers that this place likes to employ. Perhaps some people don't want to stand in line behind the people that bring their full cart orders through the express lane or wait behind the grandparent who decides to pay for their order with an antiquated bank check or behind the WIC customers that take ages to process. This is why I use the self checkout. So, I don't come here anymore. read more

This store is expensive in the extreme! Nine dollars for a single vanilla bean? I know they can be costly but at least at that price I get three of them at whole foods. In addition the staff was largely unhelpful when I was looking for coconut milk. Three "staff" members walked away from me after flippantly declaring "uh I don't know" and I finally had to seek help at the information desk. I never thought I would Yelp a supermarket... but I am really loving this Shaw's! I've always been a Stop and Shop kinda gal, but Shaw's is on the way home from the office and just more convenient... I've been shopping here for months now, and the store is immaculate. It's never crazy busy (I usually go after 8 PM) and there is never a long wait at the check out. Beer and wine?? CHECK. And a BIG wine selection to boot. Huge selection of organic foods, beautiful produce, and a great deli. I haven't tried any of their prepared meals to go, but they all look great. Last night (and for the third time in the past few months) the check out girl used their house courtesy card -since I'm too lazy to pick one up- and saved me over $15.00 on things that were on sale w/ a card only. I didn't even have to ask her to do this! They also have a bigger selection of Lean Cuisine's over Stop and Shop... I happen to be addicted to the Butternut Squash Raviolis these days... and they are always on sale here! =) read more

WOW. Do not rely on the bad reviews here. Caz you would be missing out on a GREAT meat department. I live in the Franklin MA area and the meat they sell at Shaw's is hands down the best. And at times great sales in the meat department. At Xmas time 2017-2018 they had a great deal/sale on Rib Roast. So my boyfriend and I bought 4 bone in and cooked one for Christmas and pulled one out for Easter 2018. And both times they were the best tasting Roasts we have had. I have never had a bad piece of meat from these stores. Ever! I don't work there and normally don't give a crap about anything. Lol. But this review is because they deserve it. Shaw's sell the best meat around. I promise you, that you will be impressing your guests. The best. Tasty and tender. And for those stupid reviews left because they closed there "self checkouts" give me a break. Cranky. Cranky. Cranky. Take a nap before you go into the public. Lol. read more

This place needs some serious work before actually being a decent place to shop. The entire deli area isn't even able to be shopped. It always has a distinct and full smell of vinegar all around and it is absolutely ridiculous. The entire store needs to be expanded and remodeled and the parking lot is set up in the weirdest possible way. Self checkout was just taken out, which seems extremely silly as the lines are ridiculously long on weekends and even some weekdays. Why would they take something out that was useful, and helped the store keep better control for their customers waiting in the checkout lines. Like seriously, who actually wants to wait.... they even took down those signs they had throughout the store that say "no more than three people in one line at one time", because they know in fact it will be an issue. In general, this store has a lot of aisles and the layout in general is good, but the aisles are tight and some are barely able to fit two carriages going opposite directions. Beer and wine section is a plus for those who shop that department (not available at either of the other grocers in Franklin), but otherwise, I find actually both Stop&Shop further down the road and Big Y across the street considerably better. 2 stars. read more

We have shopped at Shaw's in Franklin, MA for more than 30 years. For the last couple of years we have consistently encountered out of date food items in all departments - meat, frozen foods, grocery items and produce. I have brought these issues to the attention of individual department managers, to no avail. Today my husband mistakenly did not check the date on a package of salad greens and noticed when he arrived home that it was black and slimy on the bottom. The use by date was May 1 and today is May 15. Given this ongoing issue and there appears to be no attempt to correct the out of date products, coupled with the new configuration of the aisles, we have decided to shop elsewhere from now on. We will miss seeing some of our favorite employees but can no longer give them our business. read more

I will try everything I can to never go back to this place. Every time I do there is an issue with the cashiers or baggers. Also had an issue with an employee hovering over the shopping baskets and couldn't get one to carry my selections. But the cashiers are too involved with each other to acknowledge the customers. Too many are so self absorbed that they should not work with the public. Until the staff is trained properly on customer service, which I get, some people are not cut out to work, I will not go back. read more

I used to work near a Shaw's and caught on quickly to only purchase frozen, canned, and packaged items. Today, I wanted scallops and was right by Shaw's in Franklin, so I went in and headed for the seafood department. As I neared the back of the store, I was hit with the putrid odor of what smelled like a combination of ammonia, bad fish, garbage...I don't know how anyone could experience it and make a purchase. I have to agree, this Shaw's in Franklin is one of my favorite grocery stores. It's clean, easy to navigate, and only crowded during some peak periods, but even then it's not bad. (Maybe that will change when people read these reviews!?) I'm used to grocery stores selling beer & wine, and this Shaws is one of the few in the area that do - and their selection/price is very good. Their general prices are moderate to high, but they have great sales so it pays to shop wisely. They are NOT one of those gigantic mega-grocery stores that sell lots of non-food items - so it's easy to get in and out & find what you need without having to go through the "Lawnmower Section"... The people that work are very pleasant, speak English!, and can tell you where to find the breadcrumbs or lentils or whatever it is that you can't find. And you'll also find a nice group of people shopping there, no slamming grocery carts or battles for parking spaces. read more

I will go two exits up and shop at Whole Foods and get a better quality for the same price. Shaws is EXPENSIVE. It is a very nice store, but $44 for a bag of groceries is out of control. All the natural and organic foods are at least a dollar higher than anywhere else. I got home and realized the organic whole wheat loaf of bread I purchased was $6! I will be trying another store. I really wish Kroger would migrate up to the Northeast. read more

This store has been in Franklin for years. It is good sized store and has a good selection. The service at the deli counter is usually slow and tends to have lines. They recently removed the self service scanners and replaced them with more 10 items or less lines. It is a little annoying, but the self service machines seemed to be broken regularly and people had to wait around for help. Parking is never a problem, and they do a good business. read more

I have been shopping for many years but suddenly today when I was shopping for butter there was no more left so I ask a employee and they went to ask the manager and the manager rudely ask us to not buy any more butter but we have no butter. And he started to blame us for buying all the butter and we just need 6 packs of butter and he blamed us because someone else had bought all the butter and he even refused to give us a rain check and insulted me and my friend in front of the entire store read more

Management does nothing when issues arrive, cashier asked me if my step daughter was mine, and who's the dad. And when brought to their attention because I had the wrong name they "couldn't help me" if you got a problem or a step kid don't bother complaining. read more

Shaws in Franklin is my go-to store when the crowds at my normal store are just too much to handle. It's also my favorite place to buy seafood. It's clean, the aisles are easy to get through and they're amazingly well stocked on everything, including the 3-day sale items. They sell beer and wine at this location which is a perk. The prices on their alcohol are reasonable and there's always something on sale. Like other Shaws stores, they participate in the various incentive programs throughout the year where you collect stamps based on how much you spend to get some type of free or reduced-price product, usually pans. While you really can't do your entire week's worth of shopping here unless you want to spend your entire paycheck, you can certainly stock up on the sale items, grab a beverage and some fish then head home. Soda (in cans) is almost always cheaper at Shaws than anywhere else. The parking lot is easy to access and there are 3 entrances/exits for your convenience. One word of advice: Avoid the self-checkout. What a fresh slice of hell that is. No matter how careful you are, the machine will not recognize that at least 1 item was placed in the bagging area. It wigs out and you need an associate for help because no matter what you press it won't continue with your order. Unfortunately, the self-checkout machines are hardly ever manned, so good luck getting help with them. The regular checkouts typically have long lines which is why we attempt the self-checkout machines in the first place. read more

Shaw's has gotten much better since it got bought over by a different company. The new dress code looks pretty good. I think that everyone loves that they got rid of the rewards cards. It makes checkout at the registers and self scan much more easier. When they told me that they lowered their prices, I couldn't believe it. It was true, they lowered their prices and they have GREAT 3-day sales. I am a fan of them now. read more

the paper bags suck. there are no handles, they are flimsy, small, rip easily. cant balance out the weight of the groceries in them. cant carry more than three at a time. Big Y at least has the bags with the handles. it cost like 10c but who cares abou tthat. read more

I moved to Franklin in 2008 from not far away in Mass. I disliked the Shaws in the my old town very much. THIS place is the only stop I make for groceries in Franklin. It is very well run, very clean. enough parking, and the prices are not bad at all. As long as this Shaws stays like this, I will shop there and nowhere else. Many of the same people have worked in this store for a long time. That mature professionalism that sometimes comes with tenure shines at this store. read more

Okay that's the last straw I will never shop at Shaw's in Franklin again. They will restock just about anything I just returned a bottle of shampoo that was filled mostly with what I hope is water. Presumably bought by a scummy customer filled with water returned and restocked by the store. This isn't the first problem I have had with the store I've complained several times in the past about dirty carts and baskets. Recently after watching an employee emptying the trash cans into a grocery cart I asked the manager what was going on and was told that that was a special cart just for trash but when I asked to see this cart I was told that it was outback and there was nothing to see because it is indistinguishable from the carts that the customers use for their food and that I should just trust them that this indistinguishable cart never gets mixed in with the ones we use for our food I don't believe them. So to sum up I feel the store has very low standards and that the management is lacking in every way. read more
