ALDI Milford -- 225 East Main Street / Route 16, Milford Interior

I HATE to blow your hopeful thoughts, due to the gracious amount of good reviews for this store. However, if you are looking to do your weekly grocery shopping here (or even ANY shopping) start making a choice between the four grocery stores in Milford: Shaw's on 140, Big Y on Rt 109, Stop&Shop a stone's throw away from here, or Target, also very close. There have been rumors going around that ALDI is cheaper than Market Basket. I thought, no way. They don't have the best locations, and never seem to be as busy. Right as I walked into this store I figured out why. No brands, weird / annoying policies, and a detestable variety. The only national brand I saw here was a set of Crayola art supplies for Back-To-School. Everything they sell are things I've never heard of, and would never actually purchase. Store is pretty small, and doesn't have a good variety of anything. Nothing is really consistent, and you have to pay to use a shopping cart (good concept but not nearly worth shopping here). When I was in the store, no staff (including at the checkout area) were in sight at all, and no one else was inside. After a minute or so of the strong disinfectant cleaner smell I just had to walk out. Not a terribly bad store, they need BRANDS and learn how to clean without making the store smell like Mr. Clean's house. Target is the cheapest in Milford for groceries. They are less than a mile from here on Fortune Boulevard. 1 star for Aldi. Too bad, I wanted to like them.

Prices are cheap, and you can find good deals, but the customer service in Milford, MA is terrible!

Since I only needed enough food for two and didn't want to do the whole cooking all day thing, I got a premade dinner that consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and butternut squash - plus gravy and cranberry sauce. The portions/serving sizes were huge - had plenty and then some, leftovers for days!! We got it a few days early and put it in the freezer to keep...Took it out two days before eating time and let it defrost in the fridge. Transferred everything but the turkey to pots/pans on the stove for heating instead of the microwave and put the turkey in the oven day of. It was super easy to reheat everything and get it to temp. I had concerns about the mashed potatoes as those can be weird sometimes but they reheated perfectly. Everything tasted SO good, full of flavor, and very delish! The turkey was very moist and tender - like fall apart and the flavor of the gravy, and sides were all excellent. I think this was probably one of the best turkeys I have had. Definitely want to try the outpost farm again as I am sure everything they have is great. I was very happy with the choice and outcome and it made our Thanksgiving meal like a home cooked meal minus the mess and all the cooking lol.

I had attempted to call the farm a few times Thanksgiving morning which I new was a bit far fetched because everything is closed. I did however reach out on Facebook and it was a hit. Someone reached out to me within minutes. They sent out an alert to all Arcadian's in the area to see if someone could open up the farm and meet me for a pie pick up. It was amazing a few messages later I was in route to meet someone at the farm. I was kindly greeted by a fine young man at the door who greeted me with all my pies and a huge smile. I thanked him and offered a tip that he kindly declined. I can't say enough about how greatful I am to be from this little town and to have our town farm so close. They really go above and beyond for their customers. Thank you again! Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Holiday! Ps..The farm is absolutly adorable! The Pies and produce are fresh and delicious! Granted, it's not peak time for pretty much anything (and their winter hours are shorter), so I didn't get to see check out any produce but they have a bunch of sauces, jams, and spices. They also have a variety of baked goods and cookies, some homemade pies and some local eggs, dairy and a small assortment of local cheeses. They also have a freezer with some local frozen yogurt (which, on this freezing day, I am not going to try). They had free hot mulled cider to sample as well and the lady working there was very friendly. While there wasn't a whole lot I needed there today, I will definitely be back in the spring and summer as I love to support local businesses.

They have multiple little green houses / tents, some of which you can rent out for events. Their apple cider was really good; it wasn't too thick, it was perfectly sweet, refreshing, and tasted like fresh apples. The apple cider donuts were the best I have ever had (they were freshly made, so that might've played a part). Some of the characteristics I loved about the donuts is that they were moist, the sugar on it wasn't overwhelming, and a great size. They also have some animals, mostly chickens. Some of them were roaming around outside their coop but most of them were living their best lives in their coop. As a lover of chickens, these seemed well fed and well taken care of which made me happy. You can walk around to get to the different types of apples, but they also did have a hay ride to bring you to a more central location. They have a good variety of apples, and for an additional cost, you can also pick peaches, pears, nectarines, and maybe some other fruits. I filled my 1/4 peck bag with about 8 apples, the bag was about 6 in x 8 in x 4 in. The apples were delicious, very few had pests which were noticeable at the time of picking, but most of them were good. I didn't get a chance to go in but I did peek my head into their store, which they do sell apples, apple products, and other goods. One thing I noticed that has improved is their parking. They had more space, but also someone directing traffic to parking spots. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a good fall activity.

Some of the apples were delicious (in season) some were terrible (not ready yet). I definitely don't go apple picking for the Disney World experience and loved how vast, yet intimate this farm is. I hate hay rides anyhow, too itchy. If you are looking for something that is good for toddlers and young kids, has smallish trees so you don't have to climb anything, and is relatively low-key, this is the place for you! For me, I happen to LOVE climbing trees for apples, so although I enjoyed myself, it was missing a little something. The little shop is seriously lacking in home-made product but does have a few very delicious, VERY local specialties (just how I like it). If you want the whole-foods, home grown, yet corporate feel, skip past this farm. You won't find it here. But if you are looking for a genuine farm where local people stop for a nice afternoon, stop on by! Highly recommended.

I wish they had Macintosh but they had Macoun which gets the job done as far as baking! Overall, our group was in and out within an hour which is awesome. I do wish they had apple cider donuts and more of a farm store selection. If you don't have time or dislike the monster apple orchards this place will fill in just fine.

The quality of the ingredients here is truly incredible - everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned - we will definitely be back. We ordered: Grilled Salmon ($17) - This came with two sides and I chose the butternut squash and vegetable which ended up being broccoli. First, I am not a huge fan of squash but this squash was to die for. It was mashed up and so buttery and well seasoned. Wow. I'd come back just for the squash if I'm being honest. It was perfectly sweet and rich - a really great side to any dish. The broccoli was a steamed head of broccoli that was fine and added some nice green to our dinner, but that squash was special. And if we're talking about special, the salmon was grilled perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and came with this delicious creamy dill sauce and a slice of lemon that brought everything together wonderfully. It was perfectly cooked and juicy with great flavor - I will definitely be ordering this again. Seafood Casserole ($21) - We got this with mashed potatoes and cole slaw and the potatoes were also really tasty and well seasoned. The cole slaw didn't have too much mayo which was nice, but it wasn't too special other than that. The casserole itself had some HUGE scallops, shrimp, and haddock that was all very nicely breaded and buttery. The scallops were literally the best scallops I've had in over five years. They were massive, sweet, and perfectly cooked so they were tender and juicy inside. The shrimp was also above-average - nice and plump with a good sweetness as well, and the fish was decent, but not the star of the show. Steamed Mussels ($17) - This was served over linguini with a garlic, white wine, and tomato sauce. There were a good amount of fresh mussels in this, and the sauce had a nice balance of sour, sweet, and savory. This wasn't my favorite, but it was still very solid. Both this and the other pasta dish also came with two pieces of garlic bread which was served as a roll cut like a hasselback potato with butter, garlic, and herbs stuffed in each mini-slice. It was buttery and salty and even crispy - really delicious! Seafood Fra Diavolo ($23) - Similar to the seafood casserole, this had AMAZING scallops and shrimp in it. It also surprisingly had small chunks of lobster, and the fish was yummy as well. The sauce was sweet and tomato-ey, and we kept coming back to this linguine dish over and over - it was so fresh and balanced! Overall, EVERYTHING WAS SO FRESH. All of the seafood was sweet, fresh, and just really clean tasting. We will absolutely be coming back here again and again, and the price was also really reasonable. On top of that, they have a little shop where you can buy fresh raw seafood as well as prepared seafood soups, baked dishes, salads, desserts, and other treats and goodies. This is such a wonderful find we're so happy to have discovered it!
