The company I work for hosted a second annual apple picking event here. I came with my family and we were able to pick some apples, and enjoy some apple cider and apple cider donuts. They have multiple little green houses / tents, some of which you can rent out for events. Their apple cider was really good; it wasn't too thick, it was perfectly sweet, refreshing, and tasted like fresh apples. The apple cider donuts were the best I have ever had (they were freshly made, so that might've played a part). Some of the characteristics I loved about the donuts is that they were moist, the sugar on it wasn't overwhelming, and a great size. They also have some animals, mostly chickens. Some of them were roaming around outside their coop but most of them were living their best lives in their coop. As a lover of chickens, these seemed well fed and well taken care of which made me happy. You can walk around to get to the different types of apples, but they also did have a hay ride to bring you to a more central location. They have a good variety of apples, and for an additional cost, you can also pick peaches, pears, nectarines, and maybe some other fruits. I filled my 1/4 peck bag with about 8 apples, the bag was about 6 in x 8 in x 4 in. The apples were delicious, very few had pests which were noticeable at the time of picking, but most of them were good. I didn't get a chance to go in but I did peek my head into their store, which they do sell apples, apple products, and other goods. One thing I noticed that has improved is their parking. They had more space, but also someone directing traffic to parking spots. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a good fall activity. read more

A great experiemce. Plenty of apples, but if youre picky about variety call ahead to.see.which kinds are ripe that week. Kids love the hayride, fresh hot apple cider donuts, and the area with a little hay maze and goats, chickens. Not as big and busy as many of the larger farms in the area, but it has everything you need for our annual apple picking experience without huge lines or crowds. Nice little farm store. Pumpkins are a little expensive but the overall value is good. read more

Their steak tips ("original") are really delicious! They do a very efficient call and order ahead, and curb side pick up. Its a bit more expensive than the supermarket, but its also quite a bit better. Very good service, easy parking, we have gone back over and over again. I found this farm while looking for a place to purchase produce safely during the COVID pandemic. They did a fantastic job managing what were I'm sure hundreds of orders placed over the phone and over text with no real electronic system in place. When an item was unavailable, someone would kindly respond and suggest other options. I would go to the farm to pick up and they'd bring my bags right out to me and place them in my car! Great payment options as well. The produce I've purchased has been fabulous, much better than grocery store options and the staff have always been very friendly. They take back egg cartons for recycling which I appreciate and will be shopping here for produce from now on, as much as possible. read more

Great place to take younger kids apple picking. They have a hayride, lots of apple varieties, a small-kid-friendly hay bale maze and toys, and many different animals. I went here today to do their u-pick apples and was originally interested in their farm because of their extensive list of apples on their website. We got there, and it is pay-per-bag ($15 for 10lb, $22 for 20lb) and you get a free hayride thrown into the deal. The farm guy that rides in the back of the hayride with you is really unfriendly (yelling at children to get off the ride as soon as he parked... I dislike kids and even I thought he was being rude). The ride itself is pretty lame, you go really really slow between two fences and get hit in the head/back with tree limbs if you sit on the left side. The only nice part of the ride was that they put burlap sacks over the hay bales so you don't have scratchy legs and hay poking you in the butt. We hopped off the ride halfway around the orchard and started to pick. My main reason for going was for HoneyCrisp apples, but they only had two rows of those and they were all picked over. We wandered around the fields trying to find something, but the bulk of their trees seem to be either Macoun (A LOT of Macoun) or Cortland. Not nearly the variety that their website implied. After picking, we strolled over to visit with their animals. The sheep were friendly and would fight over apples if you threw one in. They had a few llamas thrown into the mix, but they looked sort of emaciated and never got close enough to eat any apples. The goats were all crammed together under the one sliver of shade in their pen. My favorite part of the whole trip was buying 6 apple fritters for $2. sooo good. Unfortunately, 6 apple fritters did not make the hour trip from Boston worth it. womp womp. read more

In the summer they're Fairmount Fruit Farm and in the Wintertime they're K & K Greenhouses. We went last week for apple picking. Since recently moving to New England we've really enjoyed "NE things" such as apple picking. What a perfect place to choose! They were picking MacIntosh, Cortland, and my new favorite, Honeycrisp. What an amazing apple and they're about the size of a giant fist. We opted for the $22 half bushel, what a great price! We ended up picking mostly honeycrisp, just by the look of them half green/half reddish. They allowed the dogs onto the property and into the orchard with us, that's already big points for us. I'm sure we will head back very soon for some Macouns, which I hear are the creme de la creme of apples in NE. One point off for all the apples on the ground/rotting ones on the trees. I wish they cleaned them up a bit. read more

We didn't realize how early the apple picking season was this year and called to see if they had picking. They did and we went (with our dog, on leash). There were plenty of apples and the farm is so pleasant. Lots of animals and everyone is friendly. Covid guidelines are taken seriously. I was so glad to get in my apple picking. read more

Went today with my sister, daughter, and nephew. I was so excited since I'm visiting out of town and was ready to make some sweet family memories. Sadly, the experience was soured by a few not so nice people. Almost all of the employees seemed very skeptical of guests and unhappy to be there. The grounds weren't very well kept, and the the animals (especially the sheep) seemed sad and looked neglected. To top off the trip, a bitter woman accused a nice young girl of stealing apples - to which she was proven wrong after the girl offered her bag up to be checked (if you have tattoos, you might be accused of the same, so beware). I'm sad that an establishment with such potential was such a disappointment on multiple levels. read more

DO NOT GO HERE WITH CHILDREN. This is the first complaint I have ever made via social media. Not only was my 4 year old scolded by an employee, for touching a trailer along the entrance to the apple orchard, but then two other employees treated us with hostility and disrespect. When I went to get my child, this employee yelled " control your children, " who by the way were skipping with excitement. The check-in station was unmanned and again we were spoken to very rudely for wondering out loud how to pay. To scold a child, for simply being a child is unacceptable. I'm disgusted and would never give these people a dime of my money. They spoiled what should have been a great family day. read more

Sugar donuts are bomb! Thisis a very cute little farm. The major downside is that the entire orchard is under high tension wires. Definitely not organic. It is dog friendly! They have goats and chickens to feed. A nice family place. We have been back to years in a row. You can choose from two sizes of bags to pick the apples. Took my niece here to pick apples, we had a great time. Not the best farm I've visited, but it's in Franklin which is a pretty built up town - so for the location, I was pleased. The hay ride was more of a way to get to the other side, but it was fun for all. Bought some fresh eggs that were delish! read more

I like that this is not a "theme park" orchard. We've been here several times and the staff is always friendly. Yes there is a noticeable difference between "fresh northeastern apples" from the supermarket and the ones you pick fresh and ripe right from the trees. The fresh cider donuts and fritters are great! Buy twice as many as you think you want because you'll want more. All the orchards can be busy this time of year so come early. read more

My wife and I have been getting our spring flowers at K&K for close to 20 years. It's so much nicer than going to the big box stores, and all of the Koshivas family are really helpful and friendly. The Attached store, Fairmount Fruit is also a great place for fresh free range eggs from their own chickens. They also carry great homemade pies. read more

Had a great time this morning at Fairmont Fruit Farm, apple picking, grabbing lunch, pumpkin picking and lots of fun kids activity. Such good apples, caramel, apples, apple fritters, and pumpkin everything. Great weather too. Not to big, and the prices were really good. They had a large sandbox that my son loves, a hay maze for both my son and daughter with many other kids toys to keep them engaged. They also loved the goats, ducks, chickens and other animals. Lots of vegetables to pick from, plus they had a fresh cooked burger, sausage and peppers and hot dogs, as well a caramel apples being made right there. That's just the things we did, but there is more. Definitely going back again. read more

I'm not sure why this got filtered but I will update my review. Like Marc I thought this place was overpriced especially if you come with 3 kids. I also found the staff to be very impatient and unhelpful. I had to buy more bags of apples then I wanted to because it was based on the #of pp and when I tried to work with the staff on this they were not very nice about it. I was really disappointed with the place after driving more then a hour and a half to get there. we ended up going after to another apple picking place one exit over and got fresh ice cream and free apples while we looked at cool doll houses and a conveyor belt that showed apples going into a press. On a side note I just wanted to point out that all the filtered reviews were written a day after mine so I think someone tried to review bomb this place to make up for my negative review. Oh also one of the reviews is from the owner or employee of the place which I think is not allowed on yelp so I'm glad the tech department caught that. It's exciting to see a large family farm still up and running in a town like Franklin that has taken property development to the max, carving up the whole town into sub-developments. This farm has been in the hands of a single family for over a 100 years and manages to compete with the big box stores for veggies, flowers, meat, baked goods, eggs, and nursery plants plus stuff that you'll never find at a big store--like pick your own fruit and hayrides. Incredibly, the farm seems to grow almost all of its crops pesticide free and according to the owner has about 400 free-range hens and a number of sheep and goats. Unlike most organic farms in New England, Fairmount seems to have embraced technology installing several greenhouses and Hydrostacker hydroponics to save space and grow strawberries indoors until Christmas. The only downside to Fairmount, which other Yelp users have noted seems to be the power lines--which were probably installed by a power company using eminent domain, ignoring the farmers. Fairmount seems to get short shrift compared to the Big Apple because it is somewhat setback from the road, hiding the extensive farmland in back of the K&K mulch yard. read more

If you intend to go apple picking do not I repeat do not go to Fairmount Fruit Farm in Franklin, MA. They are extremely rude. We came with our family. My sister and her 3 daughters (2 infants and a 2 year old), myself with my daughter and girlfriend, and our mother. We didn't want to get the giant bag. We wanted to get the next size down. Then told that if we did not purchase the larger bag we would not be allowed on the orchard to pick apples. The bag we purchased would only allow two adults and two children to pick apples. In all actuality that was the only people who would actually be picking apples, as my sister the two infants and my mother would just be walking out to the orchard with us. To which they informed us that the reason that we all couldn't go out there is they didn't want the extra people wandering around the orchard. Well they run a you pick Orchard so they make their money on people wandering around the orchard picking apples. So if you don't want people wandering around your orchard don't operate a freaking pick your own orchard. Their only goal is to screw you out of your money. So avoid this orchard as if it were the Plague. read more
