Great beer, awesome food, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich might be the best in town.

There seem to be about five restaurants on this one block stretch of P street between 15th and 14th streets that are all pretty good and pretty basic. I wouldn't rank Stoneys near the top of that list unless you are looking for more of a Tavern setting. A year ago when it was still pretty new, it was a little better. The food is still decent tho without many healthy options. The decor seems to have downgraded with age. If you live in the neighborhood, it's definitely an option, but I wouldn't travel from far to try it. read more

This is a great neighborhood spot to grab a beer and meet up with friends. The food is nothing fancy, but they have the basics mastered - excellent burgers & grilled cheese. Good beer selection and decent drinks combined with excellent service make this a great place to go for a quick or casual bite or drinks with friends. read more

This bar is great, lots of room, chill, cool bar. Mixed fun seeming crowd. I will say that it has a seriously good menu. My waistline wished it didn't but it does. The grilled cheese, Mac n' cheese, wings, Fries etc. Not expensive either and the service is always nice and friendly:) read more

I've been to this Stoney's three times& each time I leave unsatisfied. Today, friends and I wanted to dine outside but the combination of the uncomfortable outdoor furniture with the dropping temps and wind (not their fault!) sent us inside halfway through our meals. The service has always been very satisfactory, but the food leaves much to be desired. Given the neighborhood of P Street and Logan Circle, I would expect better. Today we ordered nachos which were assembled well: the cheese was like warm and the chips were stale. Two of us had chicken sandwiches and the meat was dry. Some of the French fries were cooked enough. Given the options in this area I will think twice about returning. read more

Get happy hour prices, awsome food but the service is not so great. . The " IPA beer of the day" was out of stock. I would highly recommend the Chesapeake sandwich which is a seafood sandwich. We ordered wings but had to wait a good while before I could ask our server for plates, silverware and napkins. We had 2 separate checks, that we're both accidentally charged to my card. I proceeded to ask another server to call our waiter. Waited another 14 min and finally decided to go inside and speak to a manager, that actually never came?! A nice waitress assisted me and apologized for the inconvenience and offerd to buy a round of drinks. read more

Ok, it's a dive, but it is a Very Good dive bar! Drinks are very reasonably priced, especially for the Logan/14th Street area. I enjoy Stoney's comfort food, too - though the selection is real wide. Don't eat here if you're dieting or trying to lose a few pounds. Service has been spot on each time I was there. read more

Very good!! We were looking for a restaurant on the fly in Washington DC on a Saturday night, didn't know if we wanted pizza or what. I checked out the menu, and the buffalo chicken Mac and Cheese caught me. It was super good, served with the best cornbread I have ever had. It was hot, sweet, needed no butter. Hubby had a Ruben sandwich and potato salad. Again, a hit. Food hot and great, beer - cold. The staff here was attentive and friendly. We will be back! read more

Stoney's always delivers with great food and cold beers. We had the Ultimate Grilled Cheese (natch) and a pizza. I was surprised at how good the pizza was, I don't think I've ordered anything but the grilled cheese for over 10 years. The pepperoni and mushrooms were fresh and balanced with a thin crust. The grilled cheese is thick, gooey, perfectly browned and contains the right mix of crispy bacon, cheese and tomato. In a word: Uninspired. Uninspired beer: There were a couple of decent beers on the menu, but the choices were safe. I have come to expect more from a place that seems to feature its beers prominently. I guess I should have known not to expect much as soon as, after we asked if there were any specials, we were told that "Bud Light is always $3.50." Uninspired food: I love good bar food. Even so, I saw nothing on the menu that appealed to me. The food that I did order left something to be desired. I went home hungry. Uninspired decor: There is not much to say about it. Love this place! I work right around the corner and its great to go to after work for a drink or quick dinner. Good space, good from groups or just a few people. They have a different beer selection, not your typical Bud, Bud light, Miller light.....the stoney amber is a good pick. I actually signed up for YELP to write this review. I visited 8/18 with a few friends for happy hour. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was good as well. However, the waiters working decided they would all service our table, three in all for a table of 5 which made it confusing. This lead to multiple times where they would bring us drinks that we had not ordered and we would have to tell them specifically that we did not order any extra drinks. Time and time again they would do this... I don't know why maybe they wanted a larger tip. While we rejected these drinks, they still ended up on our bill... Before I get to the conclusion, while we were drinking our final drink one of the waiters picked up a few of our empty glasses and then proceeded to drop three pint glasses on our table that promptly shattered. The wait staff said no apology to us and did a very poor job cleaning leaving glass shards all over the table, the floor, and on us. At no point did anyone, either the waitress or a manager come up to us to apologize. Very dangerous and disconcerting. When we brought up that we were charged for extra drinks the waiter was dismissive and didn't seek to fix the problem. We ended up just paying the $10-15 extra in order to leave with no more commotion. While Stoney's is in a cool spot and has decent offerings it is clear that the management and wait staff does not care about their customers. Tim read more

UPDATE: WHAT HAPPENED? I live next door and used to go there often. The excellent service is now terrible, and the once tasty reliable food is no longer tasty or reliable. I was there a few months ago and there were about 8 guys in the kitchen and several management types walking around getting in everyone's way. Then the staff changed, the bartender changed, the cook changed, and it's not the same place at all. It all points to RUINED BY OWNERS. read more

Really 2 1/2 stars. I like that this is one of the few down-to-earth, no-frills, regular pubs between Dupont and Logan. I sometime pop in for a beer before heading out elsewhere nearby. Plenty of TVs around, but not in an in-your-face sports bar way. But I asked the bartender where one of the drafts was from, and he just shrugged his shoulders. Another draft I got (again, he knew nothing about it) was not very good, and I mentioned it casually (not in a "I want my money back way," in an "FYI, this beer is too malty and sweet," way) -- response was indifferent. If you're the BARtender, you should know and care about your drafts. (He was otherwise nice, though.) read more

Stoney's is a great place for a drink after work, lunch on a Sunday, or Saturday night. It's definitely a comfortable, low-key place. The food is your run-of-the-mill bar and grill food (read: grilled cheese, quesadillas, chicken wings), but if that's what you're after, it's perfect. Has a bar both upstairs and down, so it doesn't take long to get a drink. Upstairs sometimes has a band, so it can get kind of loud. To gauge pricing, a draught Stella was $6 not during HH. Glad to have it in the neighborhood. read more

B.L.U.F.: Stoney's is probably my favorite bar in DC. Good selection of beer, but the real highlight is their burgers -the Black and Blue burger is easily the best blue cheese burger I've had in my last two years here. We hosted our wedding after-party at Stoney's (our reception was at Carnegie Institution for Science down the block) and had such a great experience ! John was very easy to work with as we were booking the space and the upstairs space was absolutely perfect for our event - we had plenty of room, were able to play our own music, and had a fantastic time. I would recommend Stoney's for a private event! I can't speak to the food at Stoney's but based on the customer service we experienced during planning and that night, it was fantastic!! read more

My wife and I recently rented out the upstairs bar at Stoney's for a pre-wedding day cocktail party for 80-odd guests and we can't say enough good things about Stoney's and how well John and his staff treated us.
