Visited for a business dinner. Great food, a bit $$$ for a regular night out but was worth it for this occasion and to be expected at a nice steakhouse. Service was great and prompt. They know how to entice Deer Park shoppers when they waft the grilling steak smell in the air! My 11 yr old daughter wanted Red Robin next door but I won since I had to endure 2 hours at Claire's and Pink. I haven't been to Stoney River in years and always loved their filets and amazing "doughnut" poppyseed rolls with their honey butter. For some reason, I steered away from my usual filet and ordered the prime rib instead. The prime rib was definitely tender and the au juice was delicious; but there was some tough/chewy (connective tissue?) fatty pieces I wasn't fond of. Also, I wish the side of horseradish was at room temperature, it was a bit cold. It was still very tasty but I would definitely get their filet next time; they have always been phenomenal. Also, my side of sautéed spinach was meh; the creamed spinach is worth the extra calories. The kids meal is a bargain; for $6 my daughter got crispy fries and chicken tenders. Of course I stole some and they were very tasty. It also came with ice cream (I think a drink too, but my daughter just wanted water). The service as always was great, I appreciated our server giving me BOTH lemon and lime slices for my San Pellegrino without asking. And major bonus points for giving us to go rolls and butter-great warmed up for breakfast the next day! This place is a joke! No decent appetizers on menu for a supposed upper scale steak house. When deviled eggs are the best one, that is a problem. Steaks were chewy and over seasoned at medium rare. Me and my family have been to Stoney River several times before and had no issues. In April my wife, myself and infant daughter went there and my wife had the broccoli and tuna. My wife's broccoli tasted "off" so she didn't finish it. Later that night she became very ill, doctor next day diagnosed her with food poisoning. We call the restaurant to just warn them of the broccoli, instead they referred to their corporate insurance point of contact and seemed more concern about covering their butt rather than my wife's health or my infant daughter's health (who couldn't breast feed). They suggested that she got sick somewhere else and never called back. My daughter, who has an eating aversion and had to be admitted to the hospital and had NG tubes installed because she couldn't be breast fed. Their lack of concern for my wife or daughter's health is why I won't come back there, it speaks volume of their character and integrity. read more

So we have not been here in a few months and thought we would come in for dinner since we were close by. I know food prices have really gone up. I don't mind paying if the food and service etc is good. Ordered a cocktail and it was well but $12 and half the size it should have been. New York Strip was $42 and tough. The managers both males one Caucasian one African American were so busy with there hair and looking at themselves in the mirror / wine cabinet and then they were running around hugging all the employees! Most of the employees including our server did not look happy about it. Later I asked our server who he was and they said the manager. I asked do they do the hugging all the time and they said yes. I asked do you mind? They replied if I want to keep my job I don't. Really they need sexual harassment training! So with al the upscale restaurants in the area and with Cooper Hawk moving in across the street I will not Be returning. read more

Old-school Steakhouse feeling with nice strong cocktails and excellent service. I had the French Onion soup and the Prime Rib and both were fantastic. Our server Lucas was very attentive without being overbearing and was so friendly and professional both before and after I knocked over and broke a wine glass on the table. I always get their 16 oz. NY Sirloin, and yes, when it comes, it is a little shrunk from being on the grill, but the meat is flavorful, juicy, and lovely in your mouth. No complaints. Came here for my moms birthday and she enjoyed her prime rib but my steak and sides were just okay. I got a ribeye Oscar style with creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was realllllllly rich with way too much cheese I couldn't eat it. My steak was cooked perfect but I didn't like the hollandaise that much. A family favorite! My family and I always end up here when everyone is back in town or if we are celebrating a special occasion. The service is great and the food is wonderful as well! The bread is by far my family's favorite part of dinner. Some may argue that the bread is more like a lightly fried donut; however, donut or bread, these crisp slightly fried spheres are tasty. They're sweet and even sweeter with butter. My family and I ordered the baby kale salad this time around. It was pretty standard. Just some kale w/ almonds, cranberries, and vinaigrette. However, the salad was large, and each member of my family (of 5) was able to get a good portion out of it. I also got the center cut filet with French fries. My steak was cooked a perfect medium rare: slightly red/pink in the middle and seared on the sides. In the past I have tried their coffee-cured filet mignon, but I was not a big fan. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall, Stony River satisfies my family time and time again with their tasty food and attentive service (especially for large parties). Even after I asked twice. The real reason for the fail: just not impressed. For what we spent, we could have gotten better quality steak and top shelf service. They weren't rude. Why did we never eat here before??! No matter, now we've found a phenomenal steakhouse right near home! Incredible prime rib. Medium is how you want it to be. Pink. Moist, with just enough fat, and not too firm. Beautifully seasoned. Great creamy horse radish. The grilled asparagus was perfectly done- crisp. For me, the absolute piece de resistance was the Wedge Salad. The best I've ever had. Incredibly crisp and fresh iceberg, this wedge was enormous. It was covered with a slightly spicy blue cheese dressing, complete with Stilton crumbles. Thick cut bacon chips added the final touch. The savory deliciousness was indescribable. I had to force myself to stop eating it, or not eat my prime rib when it came. But don't kid yourself, I brought it home. The service was First Class. We had Josie, who never missed a chance to sneak a soda refill in, or bring some more lemons or ice for my sister's tea. She was wonderful, and we'll ask for her next time. Nice alternative to the super high price steakhouses in town. Good food and attentive service. Seasoned steaks are very tasty. The caramelized onion mashed potatoes are really something special. They make other restaurants mashed seem quite inferior. The bread is beyond amazing. Donut-like warm orbs of sweetness with maple honey butter. I ordered a wedge salad too and it was a great size and loaded with maple glazed thick bacon. Now for the steak, I had a 14oz boneless ribeye and it was seasoned nicely. They serve with a garlic herb compound butter on top but it's totally unnecessary as it's a great piece of meat. Desert for my birthday was a nice touch but it lacked something. It was minor in the scheme of things and overall the value was excellent. Beautiful restaurant, great food, and value for the money. Always enjoy this place. read more

Went here yesterday for my birthday with a friend. Right off the bat, this place comes off as nothing short of FIRST class! You walk in, and everything is kind of dark but cozy & upscale, with a fireplace going off on the side wall. We were then immediately seated in a booth right next to the center bar. Everyone, including the hostess and waitress, were all really nice and courteous. At two different times we had managers stop by as well to ask us how we were doing and if we needed anything. The menu here is FANTASTIC! I ordered the French Onion soup and my friend the Lobster Bisque. Both were amazing, and we noted that the bisque came with a pretty generous amount of lobster chunks in it. The "360" craft beer was really good (the waitress explained they are in the process of expanding their local craft beer selections as well). The server then brought over their house bread, which was just WOW! Apparently, it's poppy seed rolls with a honey cinnamon butter that comes with it. The bread tasted and had a texture that was more like a soft doughnut than just regular bread. OUTSTANDING!! I then ordered up the 22 oz. Cowboy (Bone-In Ribeye) Steak, and my friend the same (see pic). I got the Burgundy Mushroom Buttons as my side, and he the Mac & Cheese, which he said was great, as was the mushrooms and steaks! Although not Prime, I honestly don't think I could tell the difference if I had to. It just goes to show that how you prep, season (they have their own house steak seasoning blend) and grill up the steak has so much of an impact on the taste as well. The portions of everything were pretty generous. Didn't have dessert, but next time I definitely plan to try out their Key Lime Pie. I definitely left full! I really enjoyed this place, and I FOR SURE plan to return back many times as they have a pretty diverse menu (including their Steak Burger and French Dip)!! Note: I don't really get some of the recent negative reviews of this place, which seem to be based on the lack of vegetarian/vegan options. This place is a STEAKHOUSE. Sunday night, November 10, 2019, our first time at Stoney River. We arrived just before the dinner rush. There were four people in our party. Below is what we ordered and review of same. 1). Sea Bass - no complaints, food was warm and tasty. 2). Steak Burger, cooked as ordered, however fries were cold and burger was lukewarm at best. 3). Steak Burger, cooked as ordered, again fries were cold and burger was lukewarm at best. 4). Famous Steak & Biscuits - As I recall this came with 5 mini steak biscuits, one of them the biscuit was saturated with grease and were lukewarm; the fries were cold. The ambiance was good overall. We waited what seemed an unusually long time from the time the order was placed until we got our meals. The wait staff was substandard. Lastly, for a restaurant in this price range generally the manager comes around to ask if everything is satisfactory. We received no visit from the manager. For restaurants in this price range there are definitely better choices than Stoney River in Deer Park, NOT RECOMMENDED!!! read more

We ate here a few weeks back. The place is in need of a good manager. First there were the little things. All of the table cloths on every table were wrinkled. Some of the tables were off kilter so they did not line up with the aisle. Then there were the 8 extra chairs stacked in the aisle in full view of the entire dining room. I mean couldn't you store those in a less conspicuous place? Then there was the waiter. He was pretty gruff, didn't know or go over the specials. We ended up ordering way too much in terms of appetizers because the portion sizes were enormous. A little guidance from the waiter might have helped out here. Then our food came. My wife ordered a medley of beef medallions. They were cold. To be more precise parts of them were warm and parts were ice cold. How does that happen? If the plate was microwaved! I'm sorry but we do not pay good money to get microwaved food. If we wanted that we could have stayed home and heated up the leftovers! When we complained they took the plate and brought it back 5 minutes later. Clearly they just microwaved it again but the warmth didn't improve it. The meat was really chewy after being microwaved several times. We definitely will not return! read more

This was my first time eating at Stoney River. I rarely post a review but my dinner last night earned a few words. I was pleasantry surprised how good the service and food were! Our server Emily recommended and excellent bottle of wine. The steaks were well above average! Best strip steak that I have had in a long time. Scallop potatoes to die for!
