    Liz's birthday tiramisu. Delicious!

Gianna's Café truly made my aunt's 88th birthday celebration a night to remember. The food, beverages, and ambiance were all exceptional -- every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our server, Angelena, was absolutely spectacular -- warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful throughout the evening. The highlight was when the staff surprised my aunt with a lighted candle in a generous slice of tiramisu. Her smile said it all as we sang "Happy Birthday" and captured the moment in photos. It was the perfect evening from start to finish, and we'll definitely be back soon.

We stopped by Gianni's for lunch. It was a really nice day outside so we sat in the outdoor patio area. I like the cheese/basil/olive oil with the bread starter. It's a lot of cheese with fresh basil, so you get that aromatic from the basil. I had the branzino prepared in the Mediterranean style. The fish was seasoned and cooked well. There were a few bones in the fish though. The baby spinach and roasted tomato were good, but the potatoes were a little hard for me. We also go the linguine possilippo. There was a decent amount of clams and mussels in there. We did the white sauce for it. The pasta was cooked Al dente and the sauce coated the noodles well. Overall, it was a good dish. We also got the side of Italian sausage. The sausage was really dry and over cooked. The tomato sauce helped a little bit. It was also a little salty too.

Restaurant is located in a trip mall. Parking is easy to find. Reservation is highly recommended since place is pretty small. Food was great. It was probably one of the best linguine with clams that I ever had. All other dishes were good too. Service was ok. Waiter wasn't too attentive but looked like he was overly busy. Overall it was a great experience.

Service here is always friendly and professional, courteous yet still casual. The restaurant itself is spacious and not too loud during dinner service. The drinks here are poured fairly strong, though virgin cocktails are still prepared nicely and are still tasty since they use high quality juices, fruits, nectars, and other ingredients instead being made from syrups. The cast iron pecorino house rolls are the perfect way to start a meal, with a nice fluffy texture and a good mix of local honey butter, chive, and sea salt to give the right mix of sugar, salt, and fats to accompany the bread. Recently, truffled purses have become one of my favorite pasta dishes and Lago produces a winner here, with delicious roast mushrooms wrapped perfectly in pasta and served inside a truffle parmesan cream sauce that's earthy and rich, without feeling overly indulgent. The wagyu short rib bolognese is another great dish. The paccheri has the perfect shape to hold in the sauce with perfectly tender short rib and pecorino to add a little extra fat and salt to the dish. The roasted chicken is one of my favorite dishes here, as it's pan seared just right with delicious creamed spinach. The herb roasted fingerling potatoes are tender and flavored just right with a touch of crispiness. Overall, a great option for affordable upscale dining with great service, and well designed and executed dishes.

Fabio's tiramisu was rich and authentic, while the classic cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending. The cocktails were just as impressive--the dirty martinis were excellent, followed by a great espresso after dinner and a refreshing limoncello dessert wine to finish the evening. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere all came together to create a fantastic experience. The vibe is warm, inviting, and upscale without feeling pretentious. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Lago by Fabio to anyone looking for an exceptional meal.

We've had Aldo 2 times and he is delightful, the first time we came for my aunt's birthday and it was a blast, he was funny and attentive at the same time with great recommendations his favorite appetizers "the tutto pesci" and "the burrata salad" were just delicious. The first tricky part is finding the entrance because it's not really obvious as expected in long grove There's no real signs. Further, the next tricky piece is finding parking if you can get it on the street or find it in the lot now luckily both are free. Once I managed to find a door to the place, it turned out to be the back door and so I had to climb up a bunch of stairs in order to get to the front part of the restaurant to actually check in for the reservation. And yes, please make a reservation. This place does get packed even for early times. The service was really friendly and very nice however, I will say overall the food was OK but nothing really standoffish. For example, if you look at the pictures of the food quite bluntly it just looks like they slapped food onto a plate. There's really no thought that's been put into the presentation. There's really been no thought also to just the pure amounts of cheese and sauce that are also creating a swimming pool on the plate. We ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer and even that was swimming in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and too much of everything I think the food is OK but nothing fantastic. Considering the overly saturated Chicagoland market of Italian restaurants I wouldn't necessarily say this was at the top of my list.
