I've been to Stoney River a handful of times and it's always just okay. The staff is great and the ambiance is nice, but the food is average and pricy for the quality. This is an excerpt from their website: "Stoney River is an upscale steakhouse, specializing in hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood selections, signature salads and house specialties." I would rewrite it like this: Stoney River is a place that wants to be an upscale steakhouse. They specialize in mediocre steaks, seafood selections, signature salads and house specialties. That's the issue. They do things that some upper scale steakhouses do (managers in suits, servers in button down shirts, wine lockers, etc.), but the execution is that of Outback Steakhouse. They need to figure out their identity. The prime rib is the best thing I've had. It was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Their entrees come with sides, unlike most upscale steakhouses. Sides are always good. They have things like steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes, asparagus, etc. I've had their filet and it was ok. Not overly flavorful. The pork chop (one of their specialties), is not good. It's either dried out like canned tuna or very fatty. Entrees are too big for the average human, but that helps them justify the higher cost. I am always super thirsty after I get home; they must use a lot of sodium. The tuna tower appetizer seems to be their most popular and is good, but the onions they use stink like B.O. every time. It comes with sesame seeded crackers to pile the tuna and avocado on. They serve bread rolls and flavored butter to the table at the start of your meal. These are always awesome. Their cocktails are good but on the expensive side. Bathrooms are nice and clean, but I don't like that the paper napkins are just stacked next to the sinks. They always have dripped water from other people's hands on them. The last two times I've been there; there's been fruit flies flying near my table. Their last few health inspections have noted the presence of flies as an issue that they apparently have not cared for. Stoney River is a nice place to eat, but don't expect the high end steakhouse execution. read more

I am extremely disappointed in Stoney's. I left a raving review about them a few months ago and removed it due to my experience here. I went with my family here for a birthday back in March and it was their first time coming. The service was beyond slow, but the worst part of everything was that 4/5 steaks were so raw when we asked for 'Medium Well'. It was embarrassing to take my whole family to a steakhouse and for this to happen so I called and spoke to the manager the next day. He profusely apologized and asked to send a gift card for our experience. It has been over 2 months and I still never received the gift card. I called a month later to follow up and another manager apologized and said he's going to mail the gift card. He left a voicemail and confirmed that he is going to mail it to my address the same day. Still never got it. I called back AGAIN & spoke to ANOTHER manager and he said that he never sent out the gift card because I never confirmed my address. Which was untrue. It was unbelievable and at that point I was extremely frustrated. He said he's going to mail it out the next day and it's been 2 weeks since that call. Terrible management and I was very understanding and kind, but this is completely unacceptable. Your specialty is STEAKS and they were all raw. My siblings had cheeseburgers and the bun was so hard it was crumbling. I don't appreciate the runaround when we spent almost $400 on our bill. Have always had great experiences here. The meatloaf if amazing, the burgers are fantastic, and you can never go wrong with a steak. We mostly do pickup with having kids, and they're very quick to fill the orders. This review is specific to brunch. As always, service was good and the restaurant was mostly full. The issue is the brunch menu was limited in breakfast related items. Moreover, the avocado toast, a popular brunch item, barely had any avocado spread on the toast. Having had variations of this dish in dozens of restaurants, local and otherwise, this was by far the least amount of avocado spread anyone in our party has seen on this dish. I have been coming here many years since they opened. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and New Years. The food has always been amazing, along with the service at the table. The bar service has never been a brite spot. The bartenders seem either overwhelmed or doing a job, not suited with the right personality. Went last week for dinner, and the service staff was rather confused. Waitress was great and did her job. The young man started to add silverware, for an appetizer delivered, after we had dinner. Our salads were also delivered with confusion. It's was a 4 top, with 3 salads ordered, and 1 salad was to be split. I was rather surprised they had us split the salad at the table. I did notice no dressing on it, so I asked for more. I'm glad I did, as not only our Ceasars salad, but our friends did not have dressing. It's the last point I will make. I ordered the shrimp, and it was excellent. The busboy asked if he could wrap it, and he did. Thank you. When I opened my package at home the next day, I also found all the used shrimp tales. When Stony River had a Deerfield restaurant in our normal stomping grounds, we'd go when we wanted good beef at a reasonable beef price. They left that location. Fast forward to now. Outside of our normal stomping grounds, we saw Stony River and thought to give it a try. My partner and I both went with the aged prime rib. We ordered it medium rare which led to some back and forth about how they prepare the meat, but sure enough, when the beef arrived it was what we expected. For some reason, recently (we go rarely), we had been to another well-known beef place and had ordered prime rib. SR was just plain better. Noticeably so. For my own preferences, next time I'll ask them to make sure to keep a light touch with the Caesar dressing--a style/serving issue easily dealt with. read more

First let me say food is always good. My complaint is there packing fee for take out. They want support but recently charged $10 on a $172 order to pack it and didnt share this till we saw it on bill and then said oh well. So if we dined in and had leftovers are they charging ? Dining in costs are staff to clear dishes etc water soap electric to dry etc and yet they do that carry out you have none of those costs and charge. Other places have containers staws cups wrappers boxes etc and don't charge just seems like a low class money grab A) makes no sense B) not to tell people and sneak it in. Awesome service and dinner! We went for our combined birthday and anniversary. We started with a cocktail and appetizer. I had "The Essential" cocktail, which I am obsessed with, and will be my summer drink. We also had the Tuna Stack...which can be a meal in itself for one person! Our main course was excellent as well (steak and salmon). Our server, *Michael* was top shelf and the manager *Angela* came over to wish us well and we had a nice conversation regarding our travels. Food was good. Not great. Service was terrible. Server got nothing correct from our drinks to our entrees. I ordered a drink on the rocks - it came straight up. Two salads that were okay. Had to ask for bread (which does come with the meals). Husband ordered filet with truffle fries. Gave him the wrong steak and no truffle on his fries. I asked for a baked potato with NO butter. Ate their January 13,2023. We showed up without a reservation to celebrate my Grandaughter graduation from Navy Boot Camp. We were told it was an hour and half wait. We sat down to wait and two minutes later the manager came over and said they just got a cancelation and seat d us immediately. We had three great steak dinners. The waiter, who was great, came over and said the Manager was paying for our deserts to celebrate our granddaughters accomplishment. I hosted a special Saturday luncheon for six at Stoney River. Manager Ryan offered me the private dining room, no charge for the room, just a reasonable minimum amount needed to be spent to secure the room for my luncheon. Upon arrival, Manager Eric warmly greeted us. The room was set and cleared for my small gathering. I had brought flowers and the table looked beautiful! Our server, Amelia, was just wonderful, professional, attentive and helpful. The room offered such a quieter, relaxed, comfortable setting for group conversation as I had hoped. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered many different items, including several specials, and nothing disappointed. Some delicious choices were French onion soup, lobster bisque, tuna stack and crab cake appetizers,soy glazed salmon, NY strip, steak salad, even their basic house salad was excellent! (All their dressings are house-made.) We enjoyed several different wine/cocktail choices, all lovely, and served in beautiful wine glasses A surprise dessert was brought by a guest and Amelia accommodated it without being asked by bringing small plates and forks. First time at this location, Our appetizers came out fast and fresh, server was friendly...however there was an issue with the time it took for our entrees to arrive and the temperature of the entrees once they did arrive. We did let our server know and she offered to have the manager come to the table. We let him know about the issue and he asked if we would like to have the dishes remade. We declined and said we would just take them home but wanted to make him aware there was an issue. He said he would check into what happened. We really thought that would be the end of it and that would have been fine, things happen. The manager came back and let us know that the entrees would be taken care of and he hoped we would come back. That is called great service and shows they are committed to the customer. We had dinner at Stoney River again with good friends/fellow parents as our kids went to homecoming. As usual...the service and great steaks never fail to hit it out of the park. However, even those 3 of us order a great bottle of wine. One of us doesn't drink alcohol. So when asking the server if he could order a non-alcoholic beer we were shocked well known and high restaurant like Stoney River does not carry any non-alcohol beers like Heineken 0.0 etc. I will likely call the owner/store manager to share my big disappointment in their service/food offerings. In today world, where a guest wants to enjoy good food with a non-alcoholic beer etc., this is a very common offering. I don't review often but I have to tell my experience here. . My boyfriend and I are passionate "foodies." We have been to restaurants all over the city including Michelin star restaurants. We came here for my boyfriends birthday as first timers. First and foremost, the service that was provided could but Michelin Star restaurants to shame. The waitress was so kind, gave amazing recommendations. The manager Mike, stopped by and talked with us about the menu and how they have changed recipes for their AMAZING bread in house and that the ahi Tuna from their tuna stack (MUST ORDER) was flown in daily from Hawaii. The general manager also stopped by to make sure everything was in order. No one rushes you out, they encourage you take your time and enjoy your meal. The prices can't be beat with the quality of food and service you'll receive here. Mike, then stopped by again and gave my boyfriend a birthday card that was signed by the entire staff! This personal touch, blew us away! They have won two new "regulars" and would recommend this place to anytime you want to celebrate a birthday or just that it's Friday. read more

I've been to Stoney River a few times now- for both lunch and dinner- it is my brother and his family's favorite place. We have always had impeccable service on each visit. One time we visited with a larger group of 8, the other time it was 4 of us and a baby. When we visited with the large group they did an excellent job handling the multiple tabs. When we visited with the little one, they gave us a giant booth so her car seat could fit in and the rest of us could sit comfortably. My sister-in-law loves a cocktail they have that is no longer on the menu, and they always make it for her. I think they have a great cocktail selection, I've tried 3 different ones over my visit. On my first visit, I had the medallion trio for my entree and it was incredible, perfectly cooked to my liking. On my 2nd visit, we went for lunch and I had the french dip I thought it was incredible and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. For appetizers, I'd recommend the shrimp toast and the crab cakes if you like seafood- we've had those both times and I was excited to go back for them on the last trip. The interior is a bit dark, but I find most steakhouses are, and I enjoy that the restaurant feels both open and like there are spaces for privacy in the different rooms. Price-wise, this is definitely a special occasion type of place for us. I look forward to our next visit! read more

I was little hesitant to try a Steak house in the suburbs. For some reason I've always thought all the good Steak Houses were in the city. I was proven wrong when I came to Stoney Rivers. I ordered myself the New York Strip (Medium) with side of garlic mash potatoes. My favorite steak I've ever had was from Mastro's. But man this steak I had was about just as good as the one from Mastro's. I was so shocked at how good it was. Very impressed. Definitely will be going back for some more delicious steak. read more

Came here to celebrate my moms birthday and it was a great night! The meatloaf here is her absolute favorite and it did not disappoint per usual. We also had the whiskey shrimp appetizer... so good!
