I was greeted immediately as I walked in. It is my first time to this location, but I have been to a different location. I ordered my favorite item there which is marinara pasta with extra sauce. I've been here a few times, and I keep forgetting how small the main portions are considering their prices, which are mostly á la carte (there *are* some "meals"). You think you're getting a nice meal, but you're really just getting just that protein served on a plain aluminum platter. I ordered the chicken and tri-tip combo. The chicken was appropriately moist, but the tri-tip was overcooked (I asked for medium-rare, it was more like medium-well) and had little taste. The white cheese (feta? not sure) they put on top of the tri-tip was ok, but I would have preferred horseradish. The sides are larger, and most are tasty (coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and the baked beans are winners). Wow! Don't know why we haven't tried this place sooner! Came in on a busy Wednesday night and tried the Tri-Tip For Two special - nice sized portion of delicious bbq tri-tip, a nice sized salad(a very tasty Greek in this case) and four killer bread sticks... all for just $19.95! What a great experience. The tri-tip was as good as any I've tried in L.A., tender and smokey, and the salad nice and fresh and not overly dressed. Bread sticks very good. All accompanied by a very nice Stone IPA(at a very fair price of $3.99 each) on a very comfortable patio. Had a really great experience with ordering through the phone and curbside pick up. We were told the order would take up to 45 minutes to an hour to be ready and when we got there, there was someone ready to ask about our order and take our payment. He came back out right away with our order and it was still warm when we got home. We went there on a Saturday at lunch time, and it didn't seem too busy. We had a great experience. I was a little weary reading the reviews of those who had a bad experience with curbside pick up, but turns out there was no need to worry. We had the full rack of ribs which was delicious along with the breadsticks and coleslaw. I normally don't like coleslaw from restaurants, but I really like stonefire's. We also got the tri-tip, which was ok. It was very chewy and fatty. Still good flavor though. I'd recommend this place for good food, good portions, and affordability. There is not too many restaurants in the SGV area that have good salads. This place offers a variety of salad options and you can order it in different sizes. I had roasted corn and arugula salad tonight. This one only comes in petite size (for 1 person). The portion was huge. Everything was great except that I will prob ask for the dressing on the side next time. This place gets busy but they are very fast and the wait wasn't too bad. Working class food at working class prices. Amidst all the local hype this newest addition to what will probably become a restaurant empire in the next few years opened up. It's a sit down restaurant serving sit down style food but with a fast food format of ordering at a counter and someone brings you the food. Prices are very reasonable and the menu focuses on BBQ, pizza and sandwiches. First off the food portions are really big! Our starter salads could easily feed 2. You also get 2 garlic breadsticks which werent bad, a bit doughy and the crust could be crustier but they were tasty. I got the tri-tip/baby back rib combo and the missus got just the tritip meal. The tri-tip came out cooked perfect and you get a lot! 2 could easily share the tri-tip meal if you arent gluttonous pig eaters. But for you gluttons you def get your money's worth. The rib-tritip combo was equally large, you get less tri tip but there is also a half rack of ribs so there's a lot of meat on your metal plate. Meals dont come with sides so you have to order those separate and that's where the price can add up. All the food was cooked well with good flavor. BBQ sauce not bad, a bit on the sweet side. Next time we'll try the pizza, pasta and sandwiches. The service was good and staff very friendly. The restrooms need more than 1 sink as there was a line of guys waiting to just wash their hands. Are there wet-naps??? If so, I didnt see them and if not they gotta provide them otherwise the line for the sink will be longer than the line for a table, Def will be back! read more

We ordered the full tri tip family meal (1/2 mesquite bbq & 1/2 cracked pepper garlic). Came with 12 breadsticks and we subsituted the salad for the stonefire bbq chopped salad. Food was decent and it totally filled 6 people with extra for leftovers to take home. The price was great too, all that for under $40. Flavorful and had great company to enjoy an early dinner. Portions can be petite which serves 1 or large which can serve 4-5. For dessert, their carrot cake is DELICIOUS. You would expect it to be heavy but it actually isn't. I'm normally a fan of the Stonefire chain, their fairly-priced family combos and great food but this particular location has let me down twice now. The first time we went there on a Friday around 6pm and they were completely out of tri-tip. We figured the location was new and perhaps they underestimated the demand even though it was still early on a friday. The rest of the meal was up to par but I wasn't on Yelp back then to review it. Fast forward to yesterday (5/4/13), a Saturday at 7pm. Not only were they again completely out of tri-tip but they were also out of the chicken. Now, I realize that when something is in high demand a restaurant may run out of it. However, this was still relatively early on a weekend and they were out of two of their three main selections (ribs being the third). Worse yet, we waited 15 minutes in line only to find this out right as we got to the front to order. A well-run establishment would have informed waiting customers of a major shortage even if there was a chance people would have went somewhere else. Better to lose a customer for a single night than waste their time, annoy them and lose them forever. read more

The quick-serve style of this restaurant isn't for everyone, but I love it. I've been here multiple times and I've always been able to get my food within 15 minutes of entering the door, no matter what. Just order at the counter, take your pager, and find a seat. The restaurant is so large that there's still an empty seat somewhere along the windows, even on the most crowded weekends. The pizza, pasta, and ribs that they serve here are just average (nothing to write home about), but the tri-tips and chicken are terrific. The chicken is especially worthy of note-- it's probably the most juicy chicken I've ever eaten. And I'm always sure to order an extra 6 breadsticks every time I come here. They taste fantastic too. The garlic is not too salty so you're able to have more than one breadstick and the dough has just the right consistency! It's chewy but not too chewy and soft at the same time. The tomesto is also a must try! I would say a small can feed four people if you're planning to order lots of BBQ. But otherwise it feeds two. It's half pesto and marinara sauce on penne. There isn't any meat, but for this pasta there's no need! There's plenty of sauce and plenty of flavor. If not you can add some red pepper. The baby back ribs are fall off the bone and not too fatty. Perfect amount of sauce. If not they've got BBQ sauce you can get at the serve yourself area. I just wish the ribs had a bit more meat.. Great dining experience with comforting, flavorful food. But I wasn't thrilled with my food overall. I ordered the lunch special that came with 1/2 chicken, 1/2 tri-tip, caesar salad and 1 bread stick. I added the garlic mash potatoes and was amazed at the price. First issue was that while food came quick, it was room temperature/cold and I prefer my food hot. It seemed as if the food was semi-prepared with things added (garlic, barbeque sauce, etc) and stuck in warmer. First visit here and will definitely be back soon! Had the family dinner for 6 and there was plenty to eat with leftover. Everything was quite good and fresh! The kids loved the bread sticks and pizza. Large menu of items to choose from. We were able to upgrade the salad included in the meal to the BBQ chopped. The place is perfect for large parties and has a patio with a fire pit. Self serve drink bar includes BBQ, utensils, plates, and take out boxes. Service was excellent! This place is awesome. They don't have a server really. Just someone who drops off your food, which may be similar to many places at which the server rarely visits the table. I am completely fine with this. We got a special deal, and it was phenomenal. The garlic bread is good. The caesar salad is light tasting; maybe ask for extra dressing. But it's made with quality ingredients. The pizza-- I got pepperoni and tri-tip pizza-- was awesome. Finally, I got the half and half tri-tip. I still like the almost cafeteria format of the restaurant, and the food is still pretty good. However, the customer service was not on par with what I've experienced in the past. My family and I come into the restaurant to three ladies at the front counter who were obviously engrossed in a conversation. We walked up to place our order but were not greeted. Instead they carried on with their conversation and laughing it up. After about 15-20 seconds of standing there and starting at them, I asked if they were open cause I couldn't tell. Ugh! The restaurant looks to be pretty successful so I'm not holding my breath that anything will change. They can afford to lose a couple of patrons, I suppose. read more

Hey guys...so I just went to Stone Fire Grill for my Nieces 10th birthday party. We had a group of 10, and they DONT TAKE RESERVATIONS, which I thought was kind of weird. It was a weekday, so we were able to get in ok. HOWEVER, there is no one to take your order at the table! We had to each get up and stand in a long line to order and pay separately. All of our food came out at different times!!! None of us got to eat together. I went for the first time with a couple of friends, one of which is a regular. She ordered family style for us, and wow, it blew me away! I will definitely be coming back for more. We had the tri-tip with garlic butter (medium rare), the Caesar salad, the baked pasta (rigatoni?), and breadsticks. There were 4 of us, and we all had leftovers. The portions are generous and filling, but the taste is AMAZING. The tri-tip almost melts in your mouth, the salad was well-seasoned, the breadsticks were buttery and full of flavor, and the pasta was thick and savory. My mouth is watering thinking about the food. When you get there, you order first and then find a seat. They deliver the food to your table. They have separate lines for dining and take out. Overall, it was a smooth experience ordering. Terribly disappointed !!! I placed my order online over $100 for THE FEAST several days before Easter, requesting a 5:15pm pick up on Easter. I arrived on time, parked in the designated curbside pick up spot, called the phone # on my order confirmation to let them know I was there. On Hold 15 plus minutes someone finally answers the phone and says someone will be right out with my order, 10 minutes later still no one coming out with my order. (No one came out the whole time I was there to check any curbside waiting customers) I go inside and speak to the manager, he locates my order and takes it to my car. I explained what occurred and all he had to say was we have new people, I am sorry. There were plenty of people standing around who could have checked outside, but didn't. When I arrived home my food was cold !!! Of course it was, since I waited a good 30 minutes past my pick up time to get my food. We go here often to eat there, never a problem. The restaurant was no busier than it usually is on the weekend. Customer Service on this visit was unsatisfactory and Manager shouldn't be a Manager. First time here yesterday, staff was friendly, cab wine from Lodi was very enjoyable, pours are large. We got the salmon for the kids and the gobbled them up so fast! The roasted cauliflower was amazing with the aioli dip... oh my!!!! Bread sticks are good enough. I had the chicken Mediterranean salad, the chicken is shredded and made into patties. Unexpected, however still very delicious. The flavor was great with the salad. And the salad with filling. I am saving some for later. They have so many staff members, yet I'm constantly having an issue when I come in. If I didn't enjoy the food so much, I would not return. Today my husband encountered a situation where our rewards didn't update on the system, yet I got an email confirmation several days ago, I met the requirements of $250 points to receive my $5 rewards on your next visit. Manager Miguel was very unhelpful and stated he was new. But he stated during the time of checkout it didn't process. I seem to notice a fast turn around on management here, not sure what is going on. I'm so over the issue I encounter here. As much as I love the food. The lack of education to the staff members on the items being sold, to delay on orders, to rewards not updating, food being forgotten or wait period for food taking over 25 minutes is a bit to much. My go to salad here is the BBQ chopped salad but I felt like something lighter and more refreshing today. I couldn't decide what to get. I called in for take out and Abraham suggested the Asian salad with ahi tuna. I had no idea they had ahi tuna so I got excited to try it and so glad I did. This would probably be a four star review if based only on the food which was really pretty good. The service was so bad it totally put a damper on what was supposed to be a special family event. I was so taken back by the unbelievably unfriendly, rude individual who brought an incorrect order to our table and was so beligerent about correcting it that the person in our party just ate what he had not ordered. We are not typically complainers so we left determined never to eat thee again. A friend told me that the manager would want to know and I should call. I did not ask for anything but did assume they might try to compensate with a free breadsticks or something which I would have refused since I am not going back. Instead he thanked me for the feedback and then proceeded to lecture me that I should have gotten a manager involved at the time. It would have been nice if they had offered something just on pricipal's sake and to validate my story which I would have done if I had a business with a similar complaint. read more
