    Wren Kitchens

I've done two kitchen remodels in the last 3 years. One with a high end remodeling contractor of a…read morelarge kitchen and one with Wren. Both resulted in kitchens I was very happy with. When going in to a kitchen remodel you have to keep in mind that it is probably the most disruptive renovation you can do to a house. The process is painful even when it goes smoothly. Delayes are inevitable and happened in both my projects. I liked working with the Wren designer and software. I spent 2 sessions but could have spent more. There are so many decisions with long lasting consequences it can be overwhelming. But the visualization was super helpful. And we could walk around the show room to see exactly what it looked like. I really liked this part. The cabinet installation was also well done. The installers completed all their work in two days with only a few punchlist items left over which they fixed a few weeks later. There were some non standard items that they handled well. They cut a non-standard corner on my butcher block counter top (which I love and recommend for at least part of your counter) I drew the line and they made the cut. But I'm the kind of person who is knowledgeable about construction and making permanent decisions. Which brings me to my biggest caveat with Wren. You are not buying a complete installed kitchen. You will need to hire and coordinate a plumber, electrician, carpenter and demo your old kitchen. If that is not something you are comfortable doing then you might be better off with a remodel contractor who can handle the whole job. There is no easy solution to a new kitchen. But even contractor projects can go sideways with delays and mistakes. Wren customer service could be better, but I could tell they were trying. And some things fall through the cracks. Without a contractor you are left to deal with some problems on your own. For what they offer I think Wren has a great product. It's been several months and I'm very happy. If anything they are guilty of over selling what they offer. It's not a painless process as they might make it seem. But if you go in with the right attitude and know you ability, you can get a great well designed from Wren. (With interest free financing for 5 years which no contractor will ever give you)

I needed an HVAC part for my boiler, and went to their parts department. The customers in the area were all wearing COVID masks, but the associate behind the desk did not wear any mask. This is Feb 2021, when the pandemic infection rates are staggeringly high. Since I had no heat, it was Saturday afternoon, and a snowstorm was coming in, I really needed to get that part. It cost $330; whereas it was $208 at the normal place I shop (unavailable Sat). Although I knew in advance I would be paying a premium at Modern Plumbing - at least they should follow the pandemic protocols and have the associate wear a COVID mask.

We ended up with poor quality and higher plumbing bills instead. The $700 Toto toilet refused to stop running and pulsing the water so the house shook. Modern gave us a new flow valve to replace this first one and this one did not work either. The plumber replaced it with a home depot valve and it worked..2 extra visits from the plumber for this. The vanity had blemishes on in the wood that marred the front of the cabinet. We called and emailed and they said they would work on it. The day prior to the plumber coming to install it we still had not heard from Modern so we called and they said to go ahead and have the plumber install it and that they would replace the door with the marred wood. It has been 2 months now and no door and no response. The expensive faucet for the sink had a plastic nut to hold the drain on the bottom of the sink. This broke when the plumber installed it and leaked all over the new vanity and flooring. Modern gave me a replacement nut, also plastic. Again the plumber had to come back. To add insult to injury the stopper for the drain does not stop the water from flowing out when engaged. I changed the top of the drain plug with the replacement Modern gave me and it still does not stop the water from draining out. The shower fixtures were also high end and the shower head is made of plastic and the water dribbles out regardless of the setting. I replaced it with a cheap home depot head and the pressure and flow are fantastic. We spend $4,000 on fixtures at Modern for a small bathroom and the plumber costs us over $2,000 extra for the multiple visits that the shoddy quality caused..and we still have a blemished vanity in our brand new bathroom. I would tell each and everyone of you to stay away from Modern unless you want to pay a premium for poor quality and poor service.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

The installers they use get paid by the job, they rush, finish in 1 day and get out of there. It's the worst "work" I have ever seen. This was the most expensive and time consuming mistake of our entire renovation. Customer service made the situation worse. Megan at the store was rude, dismissive, not solution oriented, and repeatedly blamed the customer instead of taking ownership of clearly documented installation failures. Measurements were incorrect, communication was horrific. Megan treats you like you should know how to design a kitchen and that you do it every day. She offers zero help and guidance. I had to call corporate to escalate the situation to have a second installer fix the kitchen which still was not properly corrected due to how terrible the first installers work was. Corporate refused to give me any sort of concession or discount. I honored my contract and paid on time. Cabinets To Go did not deliver professional installation, quality control, or accountability. Choose another company, I promise if you have an issue with this company they will not make it right. They will leave you with a kitchen that looks like it was done by a do it yourself homeowner. I recently when to Home Depot and spoke to a Wren Kitchen Representative. They have an amazing display of cabinets. So many beautiful option and everyone seemed so helpful. The cabinets come assembled already so there will be less margin for error. Cabinets to Go are not assembled and the installers put them together unevenly and bang them up. If I can help someone avoid the stress of what we just went through, I hope this review helps. It is so upsetting to look at my kitchen. It is terrible. But at least all of the big CEOs are making the big buck at cabinets to go. They don't care about people like us, remember that.

While many were friendly and professional, the quotes I received felt unusually high for the scope of work being offered. That was not the case with Connecticut Custom Creations. Their pricing was fair, transparent, and very reasonable. As with any new contractor, I wasn't sure what to expect at first. However, Dustin was an absolute pleasure to work with. He guided me through every step of the process and made everything feel easy and stress free. He also provided great advice when selecting finishes and fixtures, helping me choose options that coordinated beautifully and enhanced the overall design. I couldn't be happier with the results, and I am already planning to have my second bathroom remodeled with them as well. If you are considering a bathroom renovation or any major home project, including a kitchen or basement, I highly recommend giving Connecticut Custom Creations a call. You will not be disappointed.

This time, Renoldo came with his assistant to install one door for $ 1,500.00 and to patch over three huge cracks in the attic ceiling and wall that the company renovated in September, just six months ago. In short, wrong door knobs (twice!), a gap between the door frame and door (which they didn't want to fix), and nearly two, frustrating hours texting Dustin, the manager, who claimed he was right about everything and wouldn't take responsibility for an unsatisfactory job. I had to take doorknob pictures to prove my point because he insisted that he had purchased the right doorknob. WTF! I had to put up with his sarcasm, denials, name-calling, and gaslighting to get him to do the job. One door and a lot of unnecessary stress and aggravation. Never again, even if they paid me a million dollars, will I EVER work with this company again. Addendum: after much ado over everything, the company bought the proper color for the wood filler and filled all gaps and cracks left after they redid the door, which they should do with every door they replace that leaves ugly gaps in people's hardwood floors, even if the prior door installer was considered by them to have installed it improperly.
