Stone Deck did a wonderful job of extending our back patio. We love the results. Tamie came out on the first visit to discuss what we wanted. She brought out a brochure that showcased many different designs/styles. We chose some beautiful pavers and she was able to give us a price while she was there. We weren't sure between three colors. We were focused mainly on a combination of two of them, so she offered to bring out samples. When she brought the samples, we went with an entirely different color which looked beautiful with our brick home. Adding on to our existing concrete patio gave us a wonderful place for additional seating and placement of our fountain and barbecue. After a while, about 4 or 5 of the pavers started to settle. Stone Deck came out and temporarily removed them, added more base underneath them, replaced them, and made sure everything was level. Stone Deck Texas did a great job of replacing 1,250 sf of crumbling Oklahoma stone on our patio, retaining wall caps, and pool/spa deck. Tamie helped us choose pavers, coping and step treads that complement our pool tile and suggested the addition of LED step lighting to improve safety and accent the step treads. Demolition was a tough job in triple digit heat that including removing not just the stone, but a mud bed that 4+ inches deep in places. The workers kept at it six days a week to the keep the project on schedule. All the demolition detritus was promptly removed. Once construction started, the work crew kept us informed of challenges and suggested attractive solutions that enhanced the beauty and useability of the patio. This included addition of a short retaining wall to allow leveling of the excessive slope of the patio slab, which contributed to the erosion/undermining at the far edge. They also tidied up the job site every afternoon before leaving, and even swept the driveway when the job was completed. Tamie's crew members were artists with a masonry saw. They made scores of precise cuts to accommodate patio posts and follow the many curves of the retaining walls and the pool/spa coping. The result is not just eye candy, but improved function as well. Pavers are an investment, and Stone Deck Texas was not the low bidder. However, we were so impressed with Tamie's professionalism and portfolio that we didn't give the first bidder further consideration. PROS: Our new patio and privacy fencing turned out great. It's quality work. We were having difficulty finding anyone to come out and even give us an estimate, but Tamie was quick to come out and was flexible and communicative during the planning phase. They completed the demo of our old deck and the installation in less than a week. It was impressive. CONS: Tamie was not on site much during installation. Prior to installation, materials were delivered to the wrong part of the property. Once installation began, there were huge pallets of pavers and a large dump truck parked on our lawn, and the crew broke a window on the first day. Tamie admitted that these were mistakes and offered to remedy the situation. While 5 months out, things have been made right, it seems like it was a lot of checking in and prodding on our end to get things done. My husband was very upset when he first saw what was happening to our yard and sent an angry email. Tamie's response to me in person was to ask if he would like to come outside and "vent some of his aggression" at her, which I thought was an odd response. Over the months, we were basically called unreasonable and accused of trying to get more out of the yard repair than we deserved. The boss covered for his departure with a thorough, updated quote, but put a higher per unit price for paving stones of .50 or so above the previous guy. It adds up. When asked again, the higher price was affirmed. Will go elsewhere since they made the price too high by not honoring a previous quote which we were thoroughly sold on, including follow-up business. Update: Quote honored with great revisions. Got credit but Stone Deck was still too much, after great catch up service, so cost per month and recession worries precluding new debt and time lag to close deal with anyone have stalled it. We recently had Stone Deck Texas build a patio extension and outdoor kitchen and bar in our back yard. They did a fantastic job all the way around. The design was beyond our expectations. The construction team was courteous, professional, and did a fantastic job from start to finish. Customer service was great too; there was a minor issue with the built-in grill that was beyond the control of Stone Deck Texas, but they quickly resolved it. The driveway looks great, but had some trouble with the project manager who was not real involved with the supervision except when it was time to pay. Unfortunately I had to work directly for 3 months after install with the crew and owner to get some damage to the irrigation system finally resolved which the owner, Jason, did follow through on. I'd recommend but make 100% sure you are satisfied with the work and that everything is working properly before fully paying the project manager. She is nice, but not real involved in the project oversight and customer satisfaction unfortunately. read more
