The Stock bar is a beautiful restaurant and bar in the old Canada Post building. There's a rooftop patio with beautiful views of the skyline. We ordered the beef carpaccio to share. The entrees were two pizzas, Stock breakfast sandwich and chicken and waffles. My family enjoyed all the food. Only critique would be the chicken waffles needed a little honey or maple syrup. The Stock breakfast sandwich was the highlight of my meal. The fried egg, chicken patty, bacon, swiss cheese and spinach was heavenly. I recommend you try something on their brunch menu. My wife enjoyed her Santo Stefano pizza which had fresh prosciutto, arugula and dollops of mozzarella di bufala. The desserts were incredible as well. The Stock rocher was a giant Ferrero Rocher with gelato ice cream. The tiramisu was topped with cocoa and embossed with Stock branding. If you are looking for a nice date spot or brunch spot with some beautiful views of Toronto you should definitely visit Stock Bar. Such a cute restaurant. The sunshine, plush seating and homey decor made it an amazing brunch restaurant for my group of 5. The crowd is a bit more elevated (I found) so there was a nice level of background noise. 10/10 ambiance for sure. I also enjoyed the food - I ordered the $25 Cobb salad, mainly because I was curious why it was only available before 4. Still don't know the answer to that one! I had dinner at STOCK BAR last night and it was a really enjoyable experience. We weren't totally sure what we wanted to order when we sat down, but the featured pizza caught our eye. It came with crushed pistachios, arugula, prosciutto, cheese, and Ontario peaches... and wow, that combo worked way better than I expected. The sweet peaches with the salty prosciutto, plus that little crunch from the pistachios... it was the kind of pizza you keep reaching for even when you're full. We also shared the seafood cavatelli, which was a solid pasta dish. The sauce paired nicely with the pasta, the seafood was fresh, and it had that comforting, hearty feel without being overly heavy. Definitely something I'd order again. We were actually hoping to try the Beef Wellington since it was the Wednesday special, but at $65 the portion just didn't feel big enough to share, so we ended up skipping it. Maybe next time if they make it a little more shareable. Overall, the vibe here was really chill but still a bit polished. Ordered the steak frites and pappardelle al sugo d'agnello and shared with a friend. The steak frites were cooked well and the fries were surprisingly above average. I was nervous about trying the pappardelle because I'm not a big fan of lamb and this features a lamb ragu, but thankfully it's not overpowering and the dish is quite nice. The restaurant itself sits atop the grocery store and has a cool ambiance, you could either dress up or dress down to eat here. Service was really great! I highly recommend stock bar! It was my first time going there and it definitely won't be my last. I didn't expect to like the ambiance so much let alone with customer service. One thing that I would say though is the bar doesn't have much selection. I am visiting family here in Toronto and they brought me here for dinner one night. This place is really nice! You walk inside and you go up the elevator to the top floor. You walk in and it's just beautiful. If you get a chance, sit outside in the patio. It's really airy and chic decor with twinkle lights all around. The food was delicious! We ordered a bottle of Rosé for drinks. I'm not a big rosé fan but this was dry and flavorful. Dishes I'd recommend: -Calamari: this was one of my favorites. It was cooked to perfection, and paired nicely with an aioli. Endive salad: this was also a highlight. who would have thought endives would pair nicely with pistachio and manchego?!! I need more of that in my life. NY strip: this was a great meal to share with a group of three. We paired it with a side of frites (yum) and Brussels sprouts. Pizza: We had the burrata fungi aka mushroom pizza and it was good! The dough was thin and soft which I liked. Dessert: I am not a chocolate person by any means but man this hazelnut chocolate dessert was absolutely incredible. It was like having a Ferrero rocher homemade piece of cake at your fingertips. The walls are adorned with different selections of wine and there's lots of seating for 2-8 people. Our servers were also very friendly and accommodating. I went to Stock Bar with two other friends for dinner. The restaurant is huge and has multiple floors for seating; we made reservations, and luckily we did because the restaurant was packed. We ordered pizza, burgers, and brussel sprouts. The food was very tasty; I especially enjoyed the brussel sprouts which had a crispy texture and balsamic finish. We also ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. It was so decadent, with the perfect texture (definitely my favourite part of the meal!). The service was also great. This description may not make sense, but this restaurant has a beautiful "Sex in the City" meets "manly man" vibe which I love! This place, and the bar is popping with cougars and older men hanging out. As to the food, they take a lot of care with beautiful plating and cooking it perfectly. The hamburger is amazing. It's incredibly filling and is cooked medium and oozing juices. Pizzas are great, I think they have a 900 degree type oven but I don't think is wood fired. I order the Margherita pizza, but they also have some unique (odd) flavor combos. The halibut is excellent. I'm picky about steak, the steak frites looks great, but I just didn't like it. The Stock salad is a fave, and is huge bowl of micro shredded kale. I'm amazed how tiny they shred the kale. The only negative is the $5 sourdough bread basket. The bread was soft and good, but if it was warm it would have been better. The waitstaff are wonderful people, always happy. We had a wonderful time at Stock Bar. It's located just north of Yonge and Eglington and was very lively with foot traffic due to its retail store on the first level. I really liked the decor of the restaurant on the second floor. They had nice leather chairs and ice finishings on the furniture. Our server was so great. He was attentive and friendly. Great patio space at the heart of Midtown Toronto. The grocery downstairs has some interesting European finds with fresh bakery and deli, but I think the best part of Stock is their patios. They have some fenced-in patio space in the courtyard but by far the best part is the upstairs balcony on the 3rd floor! There are ample umbrellas to give the space lots of shade, and it's high up enough that you don't hear much of the noise on the street. The food has many Italian staples like fresh pasta and pizza and on the weekend they offer brunch as well. The portion sizes are decent and the prices are around $25 per dish, which is reasonable for a sit down meal. Service can be a tad bit slow during the busy summer weekend times, but our server was very personable so we didn't mind waiting for a bit. read more

We looked at the food reviews and decided to go, even though the service reviews were pretty bad. The reviews were accurate on both points. Bad news first - we had a reservation and they seated us late but told us there was a follow up reservation 2 hours after our original start time. While off-putting, it wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't waited 15 minutes just to get cocktails. Then, when I tasted my Old Fashioned, which I had ordered to be not sweet, it was more like sugar water than it was an alcoholic drink. The Old Fashioned continued to water down as we sat waiting for our waitress to come back because it was iced with small cubes - it took another 10 minutes. When she offered to get me another drink, I just suggested she get me a shot of rye whiskey because I thought it would be faster, plus I was beginning to feel the need for more alcohol. It really did take that long. Sidenote, I was surprised that a bar in Canada had only two brands of rye whiskey. It would be great if they could at least add Dillons rye as it is quite delicious and made in Canada just a little south of Toronto. We ordered 2 appetizers - the scallops were to die for - a 5/5. We also ordered the Santa Stefano pizza, which came uncut. When we questioned why there was no cutting tool delivered with it... like a pizza wheel... we were told by our waitstaff, who took 10 minutes to come back, even though we asked another waitstaff to ask her to come back quickly, that she was told they serve it uncut because that's how they do it in Italy and we could just pull it apart. I've been to Italy a number of times and eaten plenty of pizza/flat bread there and they were all cut or, if uncut, come with a cutting tool. Once we got to it, it was delicious - a 4/5 as the prosciutto had an odd taste. For entrees, I got the branzino 5/5 and my husband got the agnolotti del plin - a stellar 5/5. We had learned our lesson by then, and had ordered our wine when our appetizers came, and sure enough, the wine came with our dinner. For dessert we ordered some kind of a apple cake that was topped with the toffee like covering that was delicious If this service had not been so horrible, this would have been a five out of five stars review, because the food was definitely that good. The music was super loud, which made it difficult to converse, and the lighting at one point went, super bright, which we think happened because somebody leaned up against the Dimmer switch, because after that, it went to completely dark. Perhaps a covering on that wall switch would be in line. Next time I'm in Toronto, I would definitely go back and hope that the service has improved, because if it didn't, I would downgrade this review to one star because it really isn't worth it to have such great food with such horrible service to happen more than once. read more

I've been here a number of times, and it's become a go-to restaurant for a nice, mid-tier cost meal. I really haven't had a bad meal here - everything is quite tasty and well prepared. In particular, I enjoyed the calamari and grilled octopus to start. As mains, I've enjoyed the pizza frequently, but also the steak frites (I find the other steaks are too expensive for the quality), and the ahi tuna. They also make a very good cocktail. Service tends to be excellent once you're seated, but there's sometimes some confusion regarding finding a seat. Also, be careful about sitting too close to the party room - it can get very loud! The fish was seasonal and delish but the clear star was the pizza - mushrooms and burata are forever friends and had a party in my mouth. Stuffed to my eyes but not wanting the fun to stop I opted for the pistachio dessert and it was crumbly heaven. A few pointers, you cannot go wrong with mushroom, pistachio or any cheese at this place. Came back again on the correct date with my friend and enjoyed a more tamer 1 main egg option. Classy little hidden gem in midtown Toronto, all in a historical building. Have been here a couple of times, mostly in the summer. Stock Bar has a wonderful patio that overlooks the midtown area. It is a wonderful way to take in the scenes of the city while enjoying a variety of drinks and delicious food. Their menu is primarily Italian but often have a variety of American and European foods elevated to perfection. One great selling point is their ingredients are really fresh as they have a full grocery store on the first floor, boasting a butchery and a wide selection on cheeses, breads, and more. Their pastas are quite delicious. I would highly recommend it. They tend to cook it al dente so if that's not your thing you might want to specify. Though in my opinion it was quite unique as they found a sweet zone which really borders on crunchy. On my most recent visit I also had the lobster roll as a starter. It was very delicious. I don't know if it's seasonal but if you get a chance to try it I would also recommend it. The dish also had an accompaniment of tomato chips which I also found quite unique. The Stock Bar is located at the recently repurposed old Canadian post office building. Beautifully and tastefully redone. Parts of the original terrazzo flooring was exposed during the Reno and incorporated into the overall designs. Had lunch with an ex colleague and we sat the roof top patio on a beautiful fall afternoon. The food was pretty good and the price quite reasonable for a restaurant. Stock Bar is run by the same management of Terroni's and hence has a good pedigree to fall back on. We had the Pane E Accuighe as an appetizer, which was different than the usual fare. The anchovies added a distinct flavour but may not be for everyone. For my main I had the Agnolotti Del Plin. It was nice creamy and the filling was great. Only complaint- potion size pretty small for a hungry tummy which had a beer and an appetizer preceding it. My colleague chose something from the brunch menu (. Boudin Blanc with vegetable) which I heard was good. After our meal I went down to the 2nd floor grocers which has a lovely deli and an Italian desert counter from where I took home a box of bombolinis and a couple of cannolis. Definitely make a reservation, we overheard a guest being turned away because they were 15 mins late for their reso. We saw umbrellas over the tables in photos and thought we'd take a chance. It's a bet that paid off as we scored one of the last tables where everyone would be properly shielded from the elements. I bet Stock T.C wished they invested in more umbrellas to ensure more tables could get the full coverage - despite the plethora of umbrellas, when they're placed only to protect from sun, it means few tables are usable. So, was the risk worth it? Under normal conditions, the food would be a disappointment. The tagliatelle all'astice ($45) was so over seasoned. It's perplexing why the chef felt a dish with lobster and marinara - two fairly flavourful ingredients - would need so much salt and pepper. The crustacean became lost, they could have thrown in any protein, a neutral chicken would have worked better. And for a high price point, the pasta had a lot of cherry tomatoes and probably a claw-worth of lobster. I'd pass on the pasta. The Stock steak frites ($26) was decent - the beef was a little chewy, but that's also expected from a lean sirloin that's cooked perfectly to medium rare. If I were Stock T.C, I'd leave the steak uncut. Sure, the presentation will not look as nice, but it will help the protein retain it's heat more as a common complaint is the steak arrives cold and dry. I wouldn't say it was dry, but the temperature was a problem. Perhaps the best dish of the night was the funghi e burrata ($26) pizza, but even this wasn't something I'd rave about. I enjoyed the ingenuity of pairing burrata with mushrooms (typically it arrives with basil or prosciutto), as the earthy fungi gives an interesting twist with the creamy cheese. Yet, since I had this last, the pizza had two things going against it: 1) it tasted bland... after the salty pasta anything would seem tasteless; and 2) the crust, while nice and thin, had become hard from the cold. If people are sharing dishes amongst a table, the restaurant should recommend having the pizza come between the appetizers and the main, or even act as the starter if the table isn't getting anything. That would help ensure people are eating the pie at its peak. The pizza would have made for a nice interlude between the prosciutto con gnocco fritto ($17) and the steak and pasta. Even the fritto, fried pieces of puffed dough, had cooled by the time they reached the table. Nonetheless, they had a lovely aroma, and the prosciutto was shaved thin enough that even the heat of your hand starts to warm the fat enough to stick to the pastry. So here's the deal: I took ny teenage son here for prime rib night. He loves prime rib. We have taken our kids to tons of restaurants and have never had a sour experience like we had at Stock. The food and table service were both fine. It's the overall inflexibility of the restaurant that I have a problem with. My son made two reasonable requests. First, he asked for fries instead of mashed potatoes. They said NO. That's fine. He next asked if he could have the mashed and spinach on a separate plate. They said NO. In the end I ordered the prime rib and he shared it with me. We would have ordered 2 mains if they had any flexibility. Instead we shared a main and had a side of fries. They lost money being inflexible. We have taken our kids to tons of restaurants, many of them fancier and nicer than Stock. We have never had simple or reasonable requests refused, particularly for the children. I have a peanut allergy and shudder to think what they would say if I asked to have peanut garnish left off a dish! I suspect I would be told that a sensitive chef won't make changes. Toronto has too many good restaurants to put up with diva kitchens and tone deaf management. Go elsewhere unless you want to be treated like the customer doesn't matter. read more

This was our first visit and we were here to have an early birthday celebration for my hubby. The building is an old post office. It has 3 floors: first floor is a grocery store with bakery, take out counter and cafe, the second floor is the bar with an open kitchen and the third floor is the restaurant with a patio. The entire building is very well decorated and planned out. We sat on the 3rd floor and by the window. The hostess checked our vaccination passport & ID. The customer service was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the rib eye ($58) with brocolini ($11), margherita pizza ($18) and fries ($8), NY Striploin ($48) with brussel sprouts ($11) and the seafood pasta ($26). The side dishes are a la carte. The food was very good. We didn't order any alcoholic drinks because we were with our kids and chose the peach ice tea in a small bottle. It was good. Ask for ice if you prefer your drinks cold because it is room temperature. For dessert, we ordered the lemon pie and gelato (strawberry and mango - 2 scoops). The kids loved the gelato. The vibe and ambiance of the resto is really nice and comfy. We really enjoyed our evening. This resto is perfect for date night, girls night out or an evening or lunch date with family and friends.
